Lymphangioma,a benign neoplasm of the lymphatic system,is common in children but rare in *** clinical manifestations include abdominal pain,nausea, vomiting and a palpable ***,abdominal sonography or abdominal computed tomography(CT) scan can also incidentally reveal lymphangioma.A larger or symptomatic lymphangioma is treated with total resection to prevent recurrence,infection,torsion and *** lymphangioma rarely becomes malignant,its prognosis is generally good. We report a cystic lymphangioma of the spleen and retroperitoneum,which was incidentally found in a 56-year-old man who was hospitalized due to a colon *** examination showed no specific *** CT revealed a 5.7 cm,non-enhanced multilobulated cystic mass with multiple septa in the spleen and a 10 cm lobulated cystic mass in the paraaortic *** and retroperitoneal resection of the cystic mass were *** endotheliumof splenic and retroperitoneal cyst was immunohisto- chemically stained with D2-40 *** patient was finally diagnosed with splenic cystic and retroperitoneal cavernous lymphangioma.

Two-dimensional materials represent a major frontier for research into exotic many-body quantum phenomena. In the extreme two-dimensional limit, electron-electron interaction often dominates over other electronic energy scales, leading to strongly correlated effects such as quantum spin liquid and unconventional *** dominance is conventionally attributed to the lack of electron screening in the third dimension. Here, we discover an intriguing metal to Mott insulator transition in 1T-TaSe2that defies conventional wisdom. Specifically, we find that dimensionality crossover, instead of reduced screening, drives the transition in atomically thin 1T-TaSe2. A dispersive band crossing the Fermi level is found to be responsible for the bulk metallicity in the material. Reducing the dimensionality,however, effectively quenches the kinetic energy of these initially itinerant electrons, and drives the material into a Mott insulating *** dimensionality-driven metal to Mott insulator transition resolves the long-standing dichotomy between metallic bulk and insulating surface of 1T-TaSe2. Our work further reveals a new pathway for modulating two-dimensional materials that enables exploring strongly correlated systems across uncharted parameter space.

AIM:To compare the cost and accuracy of upper gastrointestinal(GI)X-ray and upper endoscopy for diagnosis of gastric cancer using data from the 2002-2004 Korean National Cancer Screening Program(NCSP). METHODS:The study population included 1 503 646 participants in the 2002-2004 stomach cancer screening program who underwent upper GI X-ray or *** accuracy of screening was defined as the probability of detecting gastric *** calculated the probability by merging data from the NCSP and the Korea Central Cancer *** estimated the direct costs of the medical examination and the tests for up- per GI X-ray,upper endoscopy,and biopsy. RESULTS:The probability of detecting gastric cancervia upper endoscopy was 2.9-fold higher than via upper GI *** unit costs of screening using upper GI X-ray and upper endoscopy were$32.67 and$34.89, *** 2008,the estimated cost of identifying one case of gastric cancer was$53094.64 using upper GI X-ray and$16 900.43 using upper *** cost to detect one case of gastric cancer was the same for upper GI X-ray and upper endoscopy at a cost ratio of 1:3.7. CONCLUSION:Upper endoscopy is slightly more costly to perform,but the cost to detect one case of gastric cancer is lower.

AIM: To evaluate the effects of Cordyceps militaris extract (CME) on angiogenesis and tumor growth. METHODS:Human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC), HT1080, and B16-F10 cells were used. DNA fragment, angio-genic related gene expressions (MMPs, bFGF, VEGF, etc), capillary tube formation, wound healing in vitro, tumorgrowth in vivo were measured. RESULTS: CME inhibited growth of HUVECs and HT1080 (P<0.01). CME 100and 200 mg/L reduced MMP-2 gene expression in HT1080 cells by 6.0 % and 22.9 % after 3-h and 14.9 % and32.8 % after 6-h treatment. CME did not affect MMP-9 gene expression in B16-F10 melanoma cells. CME 100 and200 mg/L also reduced bFGF gene expression in HUVECs by 22.2 % and 41.3 %. CME inhibited tube formation ofendothelial cells in vitro and in vivo. CME repressed the growth of B16-F10 melanoma cells in mice compared withcontrol group (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: CME has antiangiogenetic properties.

AIM: To evaluate the therapeutic effects of Gamichunggantang (GCT) on hyperlipidemia through high cholesterol diet model. GCT is an Oriental herbal medication, which has been used for-the treatment of fatty liver, hyperlipidemia or alcoholic liver disease in Daejeon University Oriental Hospital, Korea since 1999. METHODS: Rats were fed with high cholesterol diet for 4 weeks and GCT was administrated for 2 weeks from 2 weeks later in expermental days. The levels of serum total cholesterol, HDL-cholesterol, and triglyceride were analyzed every week. Absolute and relative liver weight to body, and histophathological changes were determined at last day. And, lipid metabolism-related gene expressions (ACAT and DGAT) in liver tissue were analyzed by using RT-PCR. RESULTS:In GCT group, TG levels were reduced at 3 and 4 weeks after GCT administration (39.4%, P<0.05 and 36.3%,P<0.01 respectively). Total cholesterol levels also were reduced at 3 weeks (20.5%, P<0.05) and 4 weeks (35.86%, P<0.01) after GCT administration, but HDL-cholesterol levels were increased significantly (P<0.05) at 3 weeks(14.7%) and 4 weeks (25.5%) compared with hyperlipidemia-induced group without GCT. In the GCT treated group, liver weight was lower and lipid accumulation was decreased in histological finding. ACAT gene expression was suppressed compared with hyperlipidemia-induced group but not DGAT. CONCLUSION: GCT possesses preventive or therapeutic effects on diet-induced hypedipidemia by inhibiting the intestinal absorption and storage of exogenous and endogenous cholesterol.

Aim:To investigate the immunoregulatory functions of water extracts of Hericiumerinaceum （WEHE） focusing on natural killer （NK） cell-based anticancer ***:Mouse splenocytes or purely isolated NK ceils were stimulated with1-100 mg/L WEHE for 24 h followed by co-culture with51Cr-labled Yac-1 cells for4 h,then NK cell-derived cytolytic activity was measured using a *** antibodies against mouse interleukin-12 （IL-12） were addedinto the WEHE-stimulated splenocytes,thereafter,cytotoxicity was measured toexamine the involvement of ***-PCR and ELISA analyses were performed toconfirm the induction of transcription and the translation of IL-12 and interferon-gamma （IFN-gamma） in the WEHE-treated ***:WEHE enhancedthe cytolytic activity of total splenocytes towards Yac-1 ceils in a ***,this activation was not observed when the NK cells isolatedfrom the splenocytes were treated with ***,the treatment withantibodies against IL-12 abolished the effect of WEHE on splenocyte-derivedcytolytic ***-PCR and ELISA analyses showed the induction of IL-12 andIFN-gamma in the WEHE-treated ***:WEHE indirectlyactivates the cytolytic ability of NK cells via the induction of IL-12 in totalsplenocytes,and possibly via other immuno-mediators or cellular components.

AIM:To measure the perceived satisfaction with gastric cancer screening as part of the National Cancer Screening Program (NCSP) in South ***:Data were derived from the participantsin a satisfaction survey of the Quality Evaluation of National Cancer Screening in *** is a populationbased nationwide telephone survey of participants who were screened by the NCSP between May and October *** study included 4412 participants who provided full sets of data and who had upper endoscopies for the purpose of gastric cancer ***:The negative appraisal percentages for each of the seven questions were as follows:explanation in preparation for the upper endoscopy,12.3%;explanation about the process and procedure of the upper endoscopy,13.8%;explanation about any pain or discomfort related to the upper endoscopy,27.5%;level of pain during the procedure,30.3%;physical environment,16.2%;manner of the staff,11.2%,and privacy protection,8.8%.CONCLUSION:The critical issues identified by the Pareto analysis include the adequacy of the explanation about any pain or discomfort associated with the upper endoscopy and the level of pain experienced during the procedure.

This study was undertaken to determine the impact on ejaculatory function of tamsulosin （0.2 mg） given once daily （OD） for 12 weeks and to identify risk factors for ejaculatory dysfunction in patients undergoing this treatment. Males with an International Prostatic Symptom Score （IPSS） ≥ 8 were enrolled in this study. All participants completed questionnaires, including the IPSS and the Male Sexual Health Questionnaire （MSHQ）, and serum prostate-specific antigen, transrectal ultrasound and uroflowmetry with post-void residual were measured. After initiating 0.2 mg OD tamsulosin, patients were re-evaluated on the fourth and twelfth weeks of medication. The chi-squared test, the independent t-test and one-way ANOVA were used to compare means. Binary logistic regression analysis was used to calculate the odds ratio for all risk factors. A total of 177 men constituted the study cohort. No significant difference was observed between baseline and follow-up for the erectile function, ejaculatory function, satisfaction, sexual activity and desire domains （EFD, EjFD, SDA and ADD） or for erectile or ejaculatory bother mean scores. After 12 weeks, the overall incidence of ejaculatory dysfunction （EjD） was 13.4%. Incidences of the seven different types of EjD （decreased frequency, delay, dryness, decreased strength/force, decreased volume, decreased pleasure and pain at ejaculation） were 2.4%, 3.1%, 3.9%, 3.9%, 6.3%, 7.1% and 3.1%, respectively. Baseline EjFD scores were higher for I PSS responders than for non-responders （26.09 vs. 24.06, P=0.03）. An EjFD score reduction was more frequent in IPSS responders. The incidence of EjD was small, but not negligible and was more frequent in patients with less lower urinary tract symptoms, a smaller prostate, higher baseline MSHQ totals and higher EjFD scores.

AIM:To investigate the clinical implications of lipid deposition in the pancreas(fatty pancreas). METHODS:The subjects of this study were 293 patients who had undergone abdominal computed tomography(CT)and *** pancreas was diagnosed by sonographic findings and subdivided into mild,moderate,and severe fatty pancreas groups comparing to the retroperitoneal fat echogenicity. RESULTS:Fatty pancreas was associated with higher levels for visceral fat,waist circumference,aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alanine aminotransferase (ALT),total cholesterol,triglyceride,high density lipoprotein,free fatty acid,γ-GTP,insulin,and the homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR)than the control group(Psonographic fatty pancrease showed higher insulin resistance,visceral fat area,triglyceride, and ALT levels than normal *** pancreas also showed a strong correlation with metabolic syndrome.
