Optimal sequential therapy using tyrosine kinase inhibitors as the first-line treatment in patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma: A nationwide multicenter study

Objective:The purpose of the study was to identify the best sequence of therapy beginning with a tyrosine kinase inhibitor(TKI)as the first-line therapy for patients with metastatic renal cell carcinoma(mRCC)in terms of overall survival(OS),progression-free survival(PFS),and rates of discontinuation and adverse effects during the treatment ***:This is a retrospective,nationwide multicenter study of patients with mRCC after diagnosis at 10 different tertiary medical centers in Korea from January 1992 to December *** focused on patients at either“favorable”or“intermediate”risk according to the International mRCC Database Consortium criteria,and they were followed up(median 335 days).Finally,a total of 1409 patients were selected as the study *** generated a Cox proportional hazard model adjusted for covariates,and the different therapy schemes were statistically tested in terms of OS as well as *** addition,frequencies of discontinuation and adverse events were compared among the therapy ***:Of the primary patterns of treatment sequences(24 sequences),“sunitinib epazopanib”and“sunitinibeeverolimuseimmunotherapy”showed the most beneficial results in both OS and PFS with significantly lower hazards than“sunitinib”,which is the most commonly treated agent in *** that the“TKIeTKI”structure showed relatively higher discontinuation rates with higher adverse effects,the overall beneficial sequence would be“sunitinibeeverolimuseimmunotherapy”.Conclusion:Among several sequential therapy starting with TKIs,“sunitinibeeverolimuse immunotherapy”was found to be the best scheme for mRCC patients with“favorable”or“intermediate”risks.

BACKGROUND Hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis(HLH)is a rare,life-threatening disorder caused by abnormal histiocytes and T cell *** adults,it is predominantly associated with infections,cancers,and autoimmune *** polychondritis(RP),another rare disease,is diagnosed based on symptoms without specific tests,featuring cartilage inflammation characterized by swelling,redness,and pain,rarely inducing *** SUMMARY A 74-year-old woman visited the emergency room with a fever of 38.6℃.Blood tests,cultures,and imaging were performed to evaluate *** showed increased fluorescent antinuclear antibody levels and mild cytopenia,with no other specific *** revealed lymph node enlargement was observed;however,biopsy results were *** re-evaluation of the physical exam,inflammatory signs suggestive of RP were observed in the ears and nose,prompting a tissue biopsy for ***,persistent fever accompanied by cytopenia prompted a bone marrow examination,revealing hemophagocytic *** finding no significant results in blood culture,viral markers,and tissue examination of enlarged lymph nodes,HLH was diagnosed by *** involved methylprednisolone followed by *** two months,bone marrow examination confirmed resolution of hemophagocytosis,with normalization of hyperferritinemia and *** Thorough physical examination enabled diagnosis and treatment of HLH trig gered by RP in patients presenting with fever of unknown origin.

Magnetic mineral diagenesis in the post-glacial muddy sediments from the southeastern South Yellow Sea:Response to marine environmental changes

Core YSDP103 was retrieved in the muddy deposit under the cold eddy of the southeastern South Yellow Sea, and the uppermost 29.79 m core represents the muddy sediments formed in the shelf since about 13 ka BP. The lower part from 29.79 to 13.35 m, called Unit A2, was deposited during the period from the post-glacial transgression to the middle Holocene (at about 6 14C ka BP) when the rising sea level reached its maximum, while the upper part above 13.35 m (called Unit A1) was deposited in a cold eddy associated with the formation of the Yellow Sea Warm Current just after the peak of post-glacial sea level rise. Rock-magnetic properties of the uppermost 29.79 m core were investigated in detail. The experimental results indicate that the magnetic mineralogy of the core is dominated by magnetite, maghemite and hematite and that, except for the uppermost 2.35 m, the magnetic minerals were subject to reductive diagenesis leading to significant decline of magnetic mineral content and the proportion of low-coercivity component. More importantly, ferrimagnetic iron sulphide (greigite) is found in Unit A2 but absent in Unit A1, suggesting the control of marine environmental conditions on the magnetic mineral diagenesis. Magnetic parameters show abrupt changes across the boundary between Units A1and A2, which reflects a co-effect of environmental conditions and primary magnetic components of the sediments on the diagenesis. Alternating zones of high and low magnetic parameters are observed in Unit A2, which is presumably due to periodic changes of the concentration and/or grain size of magnetic minerals carried into the study area.

RiskVA:A Visual Analytics System for Consumer Credit Risk Analysis

Consumer credit risk analysis plays a significant role in stabilizing a bank＇s investments and in maximizing its profits. As a large financial institution, Bank of America relies on effective risk analyses to minimize the net credit loss resulting from its credit products （e.g., mortgage and credit card loans）. Due to the size and complexity of the data involved in this process, analysts are facing challenges in monitoring the data, comparing its geospatial and temporal patterns, and developing appropriate strategies based on the correlation from multiple analysis perspectives. To address these challenges, we present RiskVA, an interactive visual analytics system that is tailored to support credit risk analysis. RiskVA provides interactive data exploration and correlation, and visually facilitates depictions of market fluctuations and temporal trends for a targeted credit product. When evaluated by analysts from Bank of America, RiskVA was appreciated for its effectiveness in facilitating the bank＇s risk management.

Hyper-connectivity in Industry 4.0 has resulted in not only a rapid increase in the amount of information,but also the expansion of areas and assets to be *** terms of information security,it has led to an enormous economic cost due to the various and numerous security solutions used in protecting the increased ***,it has caused difficulties in managing those issues due to reasons such as mutual interference,countless security events and logs’data,*** this security environment,an organization should identify and classify assets based on the value of data and their security perspective,and then apply appropriate protection measures according to the assets’security classification for effective security *** there are still difficulties stemming from the need to manage numerous security solutions in order to protect the classified *** this paper,we propose an information classification management service based on blockchain,which presents and uses a model of the value of data and the security *** records transactions of classifying assets and managing assets by each class in a distributed ledger of *** proposed service reduces assets to be protected and security solutions to be applied,and provides security measures at the platform level rather than individual security solutions,by using *** the rapidly changing security environment of Industry 4.0,this proposed service enables economic security,provides a new integrated security platform,and demonstrates service value.

In this perspective article,the synthesis and thermodynamic properties of aqueous solutions of formate salts(FS,HCO2-)are described in relationship to the concept of *** physiochemical properties of solid FS,aqueous formate solutions,and aqueous bicarbonate solutions set the limitations for storage capacity,deliverable capacity,and usable H2capacity of these H2carriers,*** parameters will help in the design of systems that use H2carriers for storage and transport of H2for fuel cell power ***,as well as admixtures with formic acid(FA,H2CO2),have potential to address the goals outlined in the *** of Energy’s H2@scale initiative to store in chemical bonds a significant quantity of energy(hundreds of megawatts)obtained from large scale renewable resources.

Thin-Wall Aluminum Die-Casting Technology for Development of Notebook Computer Housing

Silicon-based aluminum casting alloys are known to be one of the most widely used alloy systems mainly due to their superior casting characteristics and unique combination of mechanical and physical properties. However,manufacturing of thin-walled aluminum die-casting components,less than 1.0 mm in thickness,is generally known to be very difficult task to achieve aluminum casting alloys with high ***,in this study,the optimal die-casting conditions for producing 297 mm×210 mm×0.7 mm thin-walled aluminum component was examined experimentally by using 2 different gating systems,tangential and split type,and vent ***,computational solidification simulation was also *** results showed that split type gating system was preferable gating design than tangential type gating system at the point of view of soundness of casting and distortion generated after *** was also found that proper vent design was one of the most important factors for producing thin-wall casting components because it was important for the fulfillment of the thin-wall cavity and the minimization of the casting distortion.

Hydrogen storage in Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carrier(LOHC)systems is appealing for the safe storage and distribution of excess renewable energy via existing gasoline infrastructures to *** present the eutectic mixture of biphenyl and diphenyl ether of its first use as a LOHC *** material is hydrogenated with 99%selectivity without the cleavage of C–O bond,with commercial heterogeneous catalysts,which is confirmed by nuclear magnetic spectroscopy and gas chromatography-mass *** concentration,dehydrogenation enthalpy,and thermo-neutral temperature are calculated using a density functional *** results indicate that O-atom-containing material exhibits more favorable dehydrogenation thermodynamics than that of the hydrocarbon *** H2-rich material contains6.8 wt%of gravimetric hydrogen storage capacity.A preliminary study of catalytic dehydrogenation on a continuous reactor is presented to demonstrate a reversibility of this material.

Portable nano probe for micro/nano mechanical scratching and measuring

A nano probe system which can measure precise contact force in mN scale was demonstrated. The nano probe micro parts or optical parts in nanometer range resolution and scratch was originally designed for on-machine measuring applications and one kind of contact type measuring probes was designed for miniaturized or microfactory system. It ideally should be of small size and able to measure surface topography in nanometer scale. A commercial capacitive displacement sensor was proposed. It was a new concept in nano probe systems which can measure the displacement of shaft driven by the variation of surface topography. The nano probe mainly consisted of three parts： a capacitive displacement sensor, a porous type air slide and a contact probe part with various tip radiuses. The porous type air slide assured the shaft slided smoothly with controllable normal force in mN scale and had high positioning accuracy. The probe part which was directly in contact with target surface, can be applied to micro/nanoscale scratching as well as the measurement of sample topography by a simple tip change.

Die Casting Mold Design of the Thin-walled Aluminum Case by Computational Solidification Simulation

Recently, demand for the lightweight alloy in electric/electronic housings has been greatly increased. However, among the lightweight alloys, aluminum alloy thin-walled die casting is problematic because it is quite difficult to achieve sufficient fluidity and feedability to fill the thin cavity as the wall thickness becomes less than 1mm. Therefore, in this study, thin-walled die casting of aluminum （Al-Si-Cu alloy： ALDC 12） in size of notebook computer housing and thickness of 0.8 mm was investigated by solidification simulation （MAGMA soft） and actual casting experiment （Buhler Evolution B 53D）. Three different types of gating design, finger, tangential and split type with 6 vertical runners, were simulated and the results showed that sound thin-walled die casting was possible with tangential and split type gating design because those gates allowed aluminum melt to flow into the thin cavity uniformly and split type gating system was preferable gating design comparing to tangential type gating system at the point of view of soundness of casting and distortion generated after solidification. Also, the solidification simulation agreed well with the actual die-casting and the casting showed no casting defects and distortion.
