Knowledge Attitude and Practice towards Antenatal Care among Pregnant Women Attending for Antenatal Care in SOS Hospital at Hiliwa District, Benadir Region, Somalia

Background: Antenatal care is one of the strategies aimed at addressing maternal mortality as it facilitates the identification and avoid pregnancy related problems and save lives of mothers and babies. Purpose: This study aimed knowledge attitude and practice towards antenatal care among pregnant women attending for antenatal care in SOS Hospital, Hiliwa District, Benadir region, Somalia during the period of the study from April 2021-July 2021. Methodology: The study was descriptive cross-sectional, retrospective hospital based;a total of 60 of pregnant women were enrolled in this study. Data were collected through interview method using structured questionnaire. Data analysis was used Statistical Package for Social Science version 20 for analysis (SPSS). Results: The study discovered a total of 60 respondents have participated of which 45 (75%) had knowledge towards antenatal care, while the study found that the sources of antenatal care information was;23 (38%) from health care providers at health centers and 10 (17%) from husbands. Among the study respondents 48 (80%) have convenience and accepted the utilization of antenatal care and a total of 51 (85%) were seeking permission for antenatal care visit. Also study respondents about 35 (58%) utilized antenatal care visit during their previous pregnancies and 25 (42%) did not. About 22 (36%) were preferred mother and child health centers, 10 (16%) were preferred public hospitals and few proportion 2 (5%) were preferred private hospital for antenatal care visit respectively. Finally the study showed that, multigravida, gestational months, seeking permission and spouse accompany to the antenatal care visit and level of awareness significantly contributed to the utilization of ANC by pregnant women in this study. Nickel Antimony Sulphide Thin Films for Solar Cell Application: Study of Optical Constants

Chemical bath deposition technique has been used to deposit Ni-doped Sb2S3 thin films onto glass substrate. Doping was carried out by adding 1, 3 and 5 wt% of Ni. Bath temperature was kept as 10℃ and films were annealed at 250℃ under vacuum. Polycrystalline nature of films with an orthorhombic phase was analyzed by X-ray diffraction technique. Scanning electron microscopy was used for morphological study which shows that grains are spherical. Optical measurements using transmittance data indicated that films have a direct band gap of 1.00 - 2.60 eV with an absorption coefficient of ~104 cm-1 in visible range. The average value of electrical conductivity was calculated as 1.66, 1.11 and 1.06 (Ω·cm)-1 for as-deposited films and 1.90, 2.08 and 1.15 (Ω·cm)-1 for annealed films while refractive indices were found as 2.18 - 3.38 and 1.91 - 3.74 respectively. The obtained films can be used for solar cell applications due to their good absorbing properties like higher absorption coefficient and refractive index values.

Rol genes enhance content of artemisinin and other secondary metabolites in Shennong hybrid of Artemisia annua

Objective: Artemisia annua is the chief source of artemisinin, a potent antimalarial agent, in which other bioactive phytochemicals are also present. Due to low levels of bioactive compounds including artemisinin and flavonoids, it is necessary to increase the level of the secondary metabolites by regulating the expression of rol genes in the ***: A hybrid variety of A. annua(Hyb1209 r, Shennong) developed by the Centre for Novel Agricultural Products, University of York, UK, was selected to produce transgenics of rolB and rolC genes. Genetic transformation was carried out via Agrobacterium tumefaciens GV3101 harboring rolB and rolC genes of Agrobacterium rhizogenes cloned separately. HPLC was used for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of flavonoids and artemisinin. Furthermore, thin layer chromatography(TLC) was also used to analyze artemisinin ***: Comparative analysis via HPLC revealed considerable enhancement in the phytochemical content of transgenic A. annua plants as compared to the wild type plant. Transgenics of rolB gene showed an average increase of 321% in rutin, 97.2% in caffeic acid, and 218.4% in myricetin, respectively. In the case of rolC gene transgenics, an average increase of 197.5% in rutin, 76.3% in caffeic acid, and 209.3%in myricetin was observed. Transgenics of rolB and rolC genes showed a 14.3%–28.6% and 2.8%–12.7% increase in artemisinin content respectively by HPLC analysis. TLC analysis showed that an average 142.2%and 110.2% enhancement in artemisinin for rolB and rolC transgenics respectively, compared with the wild type. An enhanced production of total flavonoids(average 30.2% and 25.5% increase in rolB and rolC transgenics, respectively) and total phenolics(average 34.3% and 25.8% increase in rolB and rolC transgenics, respectively) was observed as a result of transformation.
