Melanocortin-1 receptor (MC1R) plays a major role in pigmentation in many *** investigate if the MC1R gene is associated with coat color in water buffalo,the coding region of MC1R gene of 216 buffalo samples was sequenced,which included 49 black river buffalo (Murrah and Nili-Ravi),136 swamp buffalo (Dehong,Diandongnan,Dechang,Guizhou,and Xilin) with white and gray body,and 31 hybrid offspring of river buffalo Nili-Ravi (or Murrah) and swamp *** the three variation sites found,SNP684 was synonymous,while SNP310 and SNP384 were nonsynonymous,leading to p.S104G and p.I128M changes,*** Individuals carrying homozygote EBR/EBR were *** genotype and phenotype analysis of the hybrid offspring of black river buffalo and gray swamp buffalo further revealed that the river buffalo type allele EBR or the allele carrying the amino acid p.104S was important for the full function of *** in silico functional analysis showed that the amino acid substitutions p.G104S and p.M128I had significant impact on the function of *** results indicate that the allele EBR or the allele carrying the amino acid p.104S was associated with the black coat color in buffalo.

＜正＞The purpose of this study was to increase our understanding of whole N metabolism N excretion and its partition between feces and urine of dairy buffalo heifers. Feeding and digestion-metabolism experiments were conducted for Chinese buffalo *** dairy buffalo heifers aged 13-14 months（body weight=220kg, SD=12）were used in a randomized complete block *** were divided into 3 groups according to body weight and *** isonitrogen concentrates （Ⅰ,Ⅱ and Ⅲ）were formulated to contain 3 levels of energy in NE for lactating （8.00 MJ/kg,7.50 MJ/kg and 7.00 MJ/kg）.The elephant grass and pineapple peel were the main ingredients as *** feeding experiment lasted for 30 days, following 15 days for *** a 7-day digestion-metabolism experiment was conducted from the 24th day of feeding *** feed intakes were measured,and total fecal and urine collections were *** difference was observed in N excretion in urine among dietary *** level of N in urine increased from 29.44 g/d to 41.14 g/d by the energy level of the diet decreased from 8.00 MJ/kg to 7.00 MJ/kg,thus,the N retained ratio of buffalo heifers were increased by increasing the energy level of ***,results from this study showed that the partition of the N excreted between urine and feces can be manipulated by changing the dietary energy level of the ***,more research is needed to obtain optimum energy and nitrogen level for not only satisfying the nitrogen and energy requirement of buffalo heifers but also favoring to the environment.

Recent studies have started to provide initial insights into the aggregation and assembly of two classes of back-rigidified foldamers with flat,curved backbones consisting of aromatic *** their persistent shape that presents large,well-defined aromatic surface areas,these crescent foldamers were found to undergo size-dependent aggregation in solution and pack into 1D assemblies in the solid *** aromatic oligoamides undergo stacking interactions not only in polar solvents but also in nonpolar ones,a unique property that is not associated with many other molecules that associate via π-π stacking *** stacking of oligo(m-phenylene ethynylenes) is similar to aromatic hydrocarbons,being promoted in polar solvents such as methanol while being discouraged in nonpolar solvents such as *** ready synthetic availability of crescent foldamers makes it possible to directly control the intermolecular interaction by tuning surface ***,the columnar assembly of these cavity-containing molecules provides a new strategy for constructing supramolecular nanotubular structures.

Expression and enzyme activity determination of human cyclooxygenase-1 and -2 in a baculovirus-insect cell system

AIM: To develop an in vitro intact cell-based assay for screening selective cyclooxygenase inhibitors. METHODS: Human cyclooxygenase-1 (hCOX-1) and cyclooxygenase-2 (hCOX-2) genes were cloned from human monocyte cell line THP-1 cells and expressed in Spodoptera frugiperda (sf9) insect cell line by Bac-to-Bac baculovirus expression systems. Infected sf9 cells were harvested 24 h post-infection (hpi), and distributed to a 24-well plate, preincubated with various nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, and challenged with 10 mmol/L arachidonic acid; the cyclooxygenase activity was assessed indirectly by prostaglandin E2-specific radioimmunoassay. RESULTS: Polymerase chain reaction detection demonstrated that hCOX-1 and hCOX-2 were transposed to the bacmid. Western blot analysis showed that infected sf9 cells could express hCOX-1 and hCOX-2 proteins. Radioimmunoassay demonstrated that both recombinant proteins functioned well in sf9 cells. CONCLUSION: Human cyclooxygenase-1 and cyclooxygenase-2 were successful

A conceptual evolutionary aseismic decision support framework for hospitals

In this paper, aconceptual evolutionary framework for aseismic decision support for hospitalsthat attempts to integrate a range of engineering and sociotechnical models is presented. Genetic algorithms are applied to find the optimal decision sets. A case study is completed to demonstrate how the frameworkmay applytoa specific *** simulations show that the proposed evolutionary decision support framework is able to discover robust policy sets in either uncertain or fixed environments. The framework also qualitatively identifies some of the characteristicbehavior of the critical care organization. Thus, by utilizing the proposedframework, the decision makers are able to make more informed decisions, especially toenhance the seismic safety of the hospitals.
