Genetic Variation of Sago Palm (Metroxylonsagu Rottb.) Progenies with Natural Pollination by Using RAPD Markers

Sago palm is flowering and fruiting just once in their life cycle. Sago palms that grow naturally and semi cultivated were generally occurred natural pollination to form fruits and seeds, if not cut down to take the starch contained in their trunk. Sago palm pollination may occur as self-pollinated and cross-pollinated. If cross-pollinated was occurred in the pollination process, it will be varied of their progenies. This study aims to reveal the genetic variation of sago palms progenies with naturally pollinated process. The research method is to collect seeds from one parent trees that have produced ripe fruit. Fruit seeds germinated to be made and tested genetic variation using RAPD markers. Isolation of DNA is done by using the fresh young leaves. DNA amplification is done by using RAPD primers. The results showed that the progenies derived from naturally pollinated of sago palms were genetically varied based on RAPD markers and also varied based on morphological phenotypic. Variations occurred in the progenies of sago palm indicated that the sago palms were estimated cross-pollinated naturally, as a result fruits and seeds with genetically differences.

增强现实技术作为信息化时代的一种高效的教学辅助技术,通过将真实环境和虚拟场景的景象叠加,把抽象的、不易于理解的知识概念形象化,给学生营造一种沉浸式的学习环境,达到建构知识的目的。天文学是最古老又最具活力的自然科学之一。天文学是研究宇宙中主要天体的分布和运行以及宇宙的结构和变化的方法,学生在学习天文学的过程中要接触宇宙空间结构等比较抽象的内容。教材上展现的宇宙空间结构的可视化缺失,导致学生在认知和记忆上有一定的困难,需要一定的手段来辅助学习。本研究把增强现实技术与天文学学习相结合,能直观展示天体空间结构,还能帮助学生构建天文学基础知识和提高他们的科学素养。本研究的研究目的是开发一款应用于天文学学科的移动增强现实APP软件,确定该软件在天文学学习中的有效性,并探索其对学生自我效能感的作用。本研究涉及三个阶段,第一阶段是开发用于天文学学习的移动增强现实APP,第二阶段是确定移动增强现实APP在天文学学习中的有效性,第三阶段是探索移动增强现实APP对学生自我效能的影响。开发的移动增强现实APP最终应用程序大小为52MB,带有APK格式和17个可检测的标记。使用媒体后的学生接受了基于印尼课程提纲的30个国家考试题的测试。研究结果表明,在讨论组中使用移动增强现实APP后,学生的自我效能感要高于接受常规讨论组课程的学生。这项研究建议学校和教师在学习中应用移动增强现实技术,以提高学生的自我效能.

Applying Network Flow Optimization Techniques to Improve Relief Goods Transport Strategies under Emergency Situation

Given the seriously damaged emergency situation occurring after a large-scale natural disaster, a critical and important problem that needs to be solved urgently is how to distribute the necessary relief goods, such as drinking water, food, and medicine, to the damaged area and how to transport them corresponding to the actual supply and demand situation as quickly as possible. The existing infrastructure, such as traffic roads, bridges, buildings, and other facilities, may suffer from severe damage. Assuming uncertainty related with each road segment’s availability, we formulate a transshipment network flow optimization problem under various types of uncertain situations. In order to express the uncertainty regarding the availability of each road segment, we apply the Monte Carlo simulation technique to generate random networks following certain probability distribution conditions. Then, we solve the model to obtain an optimal transport strategy for the relief goods. Thus, we try to implement a necessary and desirable response strategy for managing emergency cases caused by, for example, various natural disasters. Our modeling approach was then applied to the actual road network in Sumatra Island in Indonesia in 2009, when a disastrous earthquake occurred to develop effective and efficient public policies for emergency situations.

Besides the Indonesian throughflow(ITF), the South China Sea throughflow(SCSTF) also contributes to the water transport from the Pacific to the Indian Ocean. However, this South China Sea(SCS) branch at the Karimata Strait is poorly observed until 2007, even though its importance has been suggested by numerical studies for decades. In this paper, we review the nearly 10-year field measurement in the Karimata Strait by the execution of the projects of "SCS-Indonesian Seas Transport/Exchange(SITE) and Impacts on Seasonal Fish Migration" and "The Transport, Internal Waves and Mixing in the Indonesian Throughflow regions(TIMIT) and Impacts on Marine Ecosystem", which extend the observations from the western Indonesian seas to the east to include the main channels of the ITF, is introduced. Some major achievements from these projects are summarized.

Preparation of Dried Culture of Probiotic Rhizopus oryzae in Two Different Mediums as Feed Additive to Indigenous Chicken

Fungus Rhizopus oryzae has a probiotic potential, but the potency is not yet explored. Probiotics are usually used as feed additive, including to the chicken. Probiotic needs a suitable medium for their life. The aim of the study was to know which preparations can produce suitable medium for the growth of Rhizopus oryzae on the dried culture formed. The study used two preparations. Preparation 1 （a） consisted of rice bran （1 kg） and culture ofRhizopus oryzae on Potato Dextrose Broth （PDB medium）（500 mL）; then preparation 1 （b） consisted of corn grain （1 kg） and culture of Rhizopus oryzae on PDB medium （500 mL）. Preparation 2 （a） consisted of rice bran （1 kg）, culture of Rhizopus oryzae on Potato Dextrose Agar （PDA medium）（seven petri dishes） and was added with sterile distilled water （500 mL）; preparation 2 （b） consisted of corn grain （1 kg）, culture of Rhizopus oryzae on PDA medium （seven petri dishes） and was added with sterile distilled water （500 mL）. The culture of Rhizopus oryzae even both on PDB and PDA were 3 d of incubation. All preparations were incubated for 7 d then they were dried under the sun. Parameter evaluation was the growth performance of the fungus in the dried culture media. The growth performance was analyzed by microscopic analysis and the number of colony of the fungi in the two dried culture media. The results showed that from the macroscopic analysis, the sample of both dried culture media which were placed on PDA medium showed the growth of mycelia and spores of the same kind of fungus and it was proved by microscopic observation that the fruiting bodies （mycelia and spores） of that ftmgus was Rhizopus oryzae. The colonies number of the fungi from preparation 1 （a） and 1 （b） were 0,4 × 10 cfu/gr and 2.4 × 10^3 cfu/gr, respectively, and from preparation 2 （a） and 2 （b） were 1.3 × 10^5 cfu/gr and 8.3 ×10^2 cfu/gr, respectively. A Cross Entropy-Genetic Algorithm for m-Machines No-Wait Job-ShopScheduling Problem

No-wait job-shop scheduling (NWJSS) problem is one of the classical scheduling problems that exist on many kinds of industry with no-wait constraint, such as metal working, plastic, chemical, and food industries. Several methods have been proposed to solve this problem, both exact (i.e. integer programming) and metaheuristic methods. Cross entropy (CE), as a new metaheuristic, can be an alternative method to solve NWJSS problem. This method has been used in combinatorial optimization, as well as multi-external optimization and rare-event simulation. On these problems, CE implementation results an optimal value with less computational time in average. However, using original CE to solve large scale NWJSS requires high computational time. Considering this shortcoming, this paper proposed a hybrid of cross entropy with genetic algorithm (GA), called CEGA, on m-machines NWJSS. The results are compared with other metaheuritics: Genetic Algorithm-Simulated Annealing (GASA) and hybrid tabu search. The results showed that CEGA providing better or at least equal makespans in comparison with the other two methods.

Objective: To compare the level of glutathione(GSH) and oxidized glutathione(GSSG),the ratio of GSH/GSSG and the concentration of albumin in plasma of patients with complicated and un-complicated falciparum ***: This research was a cross sectional study using comparison analysis with the plasma GSH and GSSG, the ratio of plasma GSH/GSSG and the concentration of plasma albumin as variables. The complicated malaria patients were obtained from Dr. Saiful Anwar Hospital Malang, whereas uncomplicated malaria patients were obtained from the Regency of Pleihari South Kalimantan. Plasma GSH and GSSG levels were determined by the spectrophotometer at the wave length of 412 nm, whereas the concentration of albumin was determined by bromocresol green method in the p H of ***: There were no significant differences between the level of plasma GSH and GSSG in complicated and uncomplicated malaria patients, as well as the ratio of plasma GSH/GSSG in the two groups(P = 0.373; P = 0.538; and P = 0.615, respectively, independent ttest). In contrast, the plasma albumin concentration in complicated malaria patients were significantly higher than uncomplicated malaria patients(P = 0.000, Mann Whitney U test).Conclusions: It can be concluded that the average of plasma GSH and GSSG level, also plasma GSH/GSSG ratio in complicated malaria are not different from uncomplicated malaria. Although plasma concentration of albumin in both groups is below the normal range,there is an increase in complicated malaria that might be as compensation of oxidative stress.
