The iUPQC is a Unified Power Quality Conditioner in which the series converter emulates a sinusoidal current source and the shunt converter emulates a sinusoidal voltage source. This approach provides indirect power quality compensation of the load voltage and the source current. Recent studies have suggested that the iUPQC has technical advantages in comparison with the conventional UPQC due to its reduced switching frequency characteristic. In this paper, these technical advantages are investigated. Thus, the iUPQC performance is verified through a 150 kVA industrial equipment and technical design specifications are discussed: the iUPQC power circuit design, the converters arrangement and the driver configuration. Experimental results are provided to validate the technical feasibility and power quality compensation performance.

AIM： To determine hepatitis C virus （HCV） seropreva- lence and its genotypes, and to identify the factors associated with HCV infection. METHODS： This cross-sectional study, conducted in two prisons （one male and one female） in the State of Ser- gipe, Brazil, comprised 422 subjects. All of the prisoners underwent a rapid test for the detection of HCV antibod- ies. Patient~ with a positive result were tested for anti- HCV by enzyme linked immunosorbent assay and for HCV RNA by qualitative polymerase chain reaction （PCR）. The virus genotype was defined in every serum sample that presented positive for PCR-HCV. In order to determine the factors independently associated with positive serol- ogy for HCV, multivariate logistic regression was used. RESULTS： HCV seroprevalence was 3.1%. Of the 13 subjects with positive anti-HCV, 11 had viremia confirmed by PCR. Of these, 90.9% had genotype 1. A total of 43 （10.2%） were injecting drug users, and HCV seroprevalence in this subgroup was 20.6%. The variable most strongly associated with positive serology for HCV was use of injecting drugs [odds ratio （OR）, 23.3; 95% confidence interval （CI）, 6.0-90.8]. Age over 30 years （OR, 5.5; 95%CI, 1.1-29.2）, history of syphilis （OR, 9.8; 95%CI, 1.7-55.2） and history of household contact with HCV positive individual （OR, 14.1; 95%CI, 2.3-85.4） were also independently associated with HCV infection. CONCLUSION： Most of the HCV transmissions result from parenteral exposure. However, there is evidence to suggest a role for sex and household contact with an infected subject in virus transmission.

This review aims to identify in vivo studies investigating the potential of plant substances and their natural molecules in managing inflammatory bowel disease(IBD).Specifically,the objective is to examine the impact of these substances on interleukins and other key inflammatory signaling *** articles published up to December 2022 were identified through a search of the PubMed,Scopus,web of Science,and Embase *** search used keywords including“inflammatory bowel disease”,“medicinal plants”,“natural molecules”,“anti-inflammatory”,and“ulcerative colitis”,and identified 1,878 potentially relevant articles,of which 89 were included in this review after completion of the selection *** study provides preclinical data on natural products(NPs)that can potentially treat IBD,including ulcerative *** main actions of these NPs relate to their effects on nuclear factor kappa B(NF-κβ),the Janus kinase(JAK)/signal transducer and activator of transcription(STAT)signaling pathway,the regulation of T helper 17/regulatory T cells balance,and oxidative *** ability of these NPs to inhibit intestinal inflammation appears to be dependent on lowering levels of the pro-inflammatory cytokines tumor necrosis factor-alpha(TNF-α),interleukin(IL)-1β,and IL-17,via the Jun N-terminal kinase(JNK)1,NF-κβ-p65,and STAT3 *** addition,NPs were shown to reduce oxidative stress and the severity of ulcerative colitis,as well as increase the activity of antioxidant *** actions suggest that NPs represent a promising treatment for IBD,and potentially have greater efficacy and safety than current treatments.

Qi Gong and Heart Rate Variability: A Systematic Review

Qì Gōng is a type of exercise that involves meditation and is used for health. with a background from the martial arts, it is known also as an auto healing exercise with three main elements according to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM): body focus (posture and movement), breathing and mind focus (meditative elements). Heart rate variability is a tool that allows us to measure the autonomic system velocity to detect and respond to unexpected stimuli. So our goal was to build a systematic review of Qi Gong and Heart rate variability. PUBMED, EBSCO and Science Direct data bases were searched. Key terms (MeSH) were Heart Rate Variability and Ch’i Kung OR Qi Gong with a 10-year filter. Four independent reviewers analyzed all articles and excluded duplicated articles, articles in Chinese and articles with no adherence to the subject. The end result was 5 studies selected. Our results showed no significant improvements in HRV with the practice of Qì Gōng, probably because of data heterogeneity. we found 5 types of Qì Gōng, 3 different instruments and different time intervals to measure HRV and 2 different age groups in the studies. we can conclude that there is evidence that Qì Gōng can improve HRV but studies that would use the same parameters are needed to further confirm that.

Purpose of the work was to quantify the workloads and the neurologist’s commitment in ER, to verify the management of urgencies and appropriateness of neurological counseling requests. Neurologic emergencies are frequent in elderly patients and are associated with high morbidity and mortality. Due to the aging population, neurologic pathologies in emergency room (ER) are widely expected to increase. The role of the neurologist in this context is controversial. Methods: in 14 operative units of neurology a prospective collection of neurological evaluations in ER was carried out using boards of detection of the most frequent neurological clinical pictures seen in the course of a week. Data were collected from 738 cases. Attention was focused on cerebrovascular diseases (CVD), impairment of consciousness, epilepsy, headache, dizziness, head trauma and disorders of the peripheral nervous system (PNS). Achievements: neurological consultations were on average 5% of total accesses to ER. The most common pathology seen was ischemic stroke. After counseling most patients were discharged home. The CVD required the greatest commitment to the specialist. The usefulness of the specialized neurological “filter” has been confirmed in a non-simple operative context, aimed at optimizing the appropriateness of the hospitalization and the economy of the diagnostic path.

Synthetic Reconstruction of water Demand Time Series for Real Time Demand Forecasting

The forecasting of the demand applied to water supply systems has been an important tool to realize time control. The use of the time series to do the forecasting of the demand is the main way that has been used by researchers. By this way, the need of a complete time demand series increases. This work presents two ways to reconstruct the water demand time series synthetically, using the Average Reconstruction Method and Fourier Method. Both the methods were considered interesting to do the synthetic reconstruction and able to complete the time series, but the Fourier Method showed better results and a better fitness to approximation of the water consumption pattern.
