One important aspect of solar energy generation especially in inter-tropical sites is the local variability of clouds. Satellite images do not have temporal resolution enough to nowcast its impacts on solar plants, this monitoring is made by local cameras. However, cloud detection and monitoring are not trivial due to cloud shape dynamics, the camera is a linear and self-adjusting device, with fish-eye lenses generating a flat image that distorts images near the horizon. The present work focuses on cloud identification to predict its effects on solar plants that are distinct for every site’s climatology and geography. We used RASPBERY-PI-based cameras pointed at the horizon to allow observation of clouds’ vertical distribution, not possible with a unique fish-eye lens. A large number of cloud image identification analyses led the researchers to use deep learning methods such as U-net, HRnet, and Detectron. We use transfer learning with weights trained over the “2012 ILSvRC ImageNet” data set and architecture configurations like Resnet, Efficient, and Detectron2. While cloud identification proved a difficult task, we achieved the best results by using Jaccard Coefficient as a validation metric, with the best model being a U-net with Resnet18 using 486 × 648 resolution. This model had an average IoU of 0.6, indicating a satisfactory performance in cloud segmentation. We also observed that the data imbalance affected the overall performance of all models, with the tree class creating a favorable bias. The HRNet model, which works with different resolutions, showed promising results with a more refined segmentation at the pixel level, but it was not necessary to detect the most predominant clouds in the sky. We are currently working on balancing the dataset and mapping out data augmentation transformations for our next experiments. Orlistat-induced weight loss results in amelioration in several comorbidities including obesity-related dyslipidemia. The aim of the present study was to characterize the changes in the blood plasma metabolic profile from overweight women treated with Orlistat, a lipase inhibitor. A metabonomic approach employing LHNMR was applied to the access metabolic profile in lean and overweight women after a 120 day treatment with 120 mg of Orlistat three times daily. Twenty overweight women （BMI： 32.8 ± 2.9 kg/m2） were evaluated before and after Orlistat treatment and seven normal weight women （BMh 21.8 ± 1.4 kg/m2） were taken as control. After 120 days of treatment with Orlistat, no significant weight changes were observed. However, Orlistat-induced metabolic changes in overweight subjects decreased the profile differences between lean and obese individuals, independent of weight loss. These were associated to decreasing levels of lactate and calcium. Higher levels of lactate, alanine and lipids from overweight subjects were detected in comparison to lean individuals. These results show that a lipase inhibitor shifts the metabolic profile of overweight subjects towards normality, independent of weight loss.

Renewable energies are highly dependent on local weather conditions, with photovoltaic energy being particularly affected by intermittent clouds. Anticipating the impact of cloud shadows on power plants is crucial, as clouds can cause partial shading, excessive irradiation, and operational issues. This study focuses on analyzing cloud tracking methods for short-term forecasts, aiming to mitigate such impacts. We conducted a systematic literature review, highlighting the most significant articles on cloud tracking from ground-based observations. We explore both traditional image processing techniques and advances in deep learning models. Additionally, we discuss current challenges and future research directions in this rapidly evolving field, aiming to provide a comprehensive overview of the state of the art and identify opportunities for significant advancements in the next generation of cloud tracking systems based on computer vision and deep learning.

The use of self-expandable metallic stents has increased recently to palliate inoperable esophageal neoplasia and also in the management of benign strictures. Migration is one of the most common complications after stent placement and the endoscopist should be able to recognize and manage this situation. Several techniques for managing migrated stents have been described, as well as new techniques for preventing stent migration. Most stents have a "lasso" at the upper flange which facilitates stent repositioning or removal. An overtube, endoloop and large polypectomy snare may be useful for the retrieval of stents migrated into the stomach. External fixation of the stent with Shim's technique is efficient in preventing stent migration. Suturing the stent to the esophageal wall, new stent designs with larger flanges and double-layered stents are promising techniques to prevent stent migration but they warrant validation in a larger cohort of patients.

AIM To evaluate bacterial resistance to clarithromycin and fluoroquinolones in Brazil using molecular *** The primary antibiotic resistance rates of Helicobacter pylori(H. pylori) were determined from November 2012 to March 2015 in the Southern,South-Eastern,Northern,North-Eastern,and Central-Western regions of Brazil. Four hundred ninety H. pylori patients [66% female,mean age 43 years(range: 18-79)] who had never been previously treated for this infection were enrolled. All patients underwent gastroscopy with antrum and corpus biopsies and molecular testing using Geno Type Helico DR(Hain Life Science,Germany). This test was performed to detect the presence of H. pylori and to identify point mutations in the genes responsible for clarithromycin and fluoroquinolone resistance. The molecular procedure was divided into three steps: DNA extraction from the biopsies,multiplex amplification,and reverse hybridization. RESULTS Clarithromycin resistance was found in 83(16.9%) patients,and fluoroquinolone resistance was found in 66(13.5%) patients. There was no statistical difference in resistance to either clarithromycin or fluoroquinolones(P = 0.55 and P = 0.06,respectively) among the different regions of Brazil. Dual resistance to clarithromycin and fluoroquinolones was found in 4.3%(21/490) of patients. The A2147 G mutation was present in 90.4%(75/83),A2146 G in 16.9%(14/83) and A2146 C in 3.6%(3/83) of clarithromycin-resistant patients. In 10.8%(9/83) of clarithromycin-resistant samples,more than 01 mutation in the 23 S r RNA gene was noticed. In fluoroquinolone-resistant samples,37.9%(25/66) showed mutations not specified by the Geno Type Helico DR test. D91 N mutation was observed in 34.8%(23/66),D91 G in 18.1%(12/66),N87 K in 16.6%(11/66) and D91 Y in 13.6%(9/66) of cases. Among fluoroquinolone-resistant samples,37.9%(25/66) showed mutations not specified by the Geno Type Helico DR test. CONCLUSION The H. pylori clarithromycin resistance rate in Brazil is

Differential Growth of Genotypes of Physic Nut Conditioned by Nitrogen Fertilization

The adequate supply of nitrogen is essential for the plant metabolism. This nutrient has an irreplaceable role on the vegetative and reproductive growth of physic nut;therefore the correct management of the fertilization is very important, particularly in tropical regions, which present considerable losses of nitrogen by leaching and volatilization processes. This study was made with the objective of evaluating the growth of genotypes of physic nut conditioned by nitrogen fertilization. The experiment was conducted in controlled environment, following a factorial scheme 12 × 4, with 12 Brazilian genotypes of Jatropha curcas L. and 4 levels of nitrogen fertilization (0%, 50%, 100% and 150% of the recommendation), in completely randomized design, with four replications. The growth of the genotypes was evaluated at 100 days of cultivation. Positive response to the increase in the nitrogen supply was observed in most genotypes, with gain in plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, leaf area and root volume. The levels of nitrogen fertilization promoted differential growth between genotypes, being possible to identify genotypes with superior growth for each level.
