Hematological parameters can provide key information to an animal health ***,this information is usually hard to ***,we described the hematological parameters of leptodactylus podicipinus in the Brazilian *** measured red blood cell morphometrics,erythrogram,and *** also tested for phylogenetic signal in the erythrogram and leukogram of 48 frog species from 15 families,testing if body size explains their *** were the most abundant leukocytes(>60%)in ***,followed by neutrophils(∼10%).Given that *** is an abundant and widely distributed species in central Brazil,knowing its hematological pattern can help establish a baseline and improve its use as a bioindicator of environmental *** corpuscular hemoglobin and value contributed more to the phylomorphospace of erythrogram,in which leptodactylus *** Hypsiboas raniceps had lower values of these variables,whereas Bufotes viridis and Hyla arborea had high *** phylogenetic signal was spread throughout the dimensions of the leukogram *** variables that most contributed to it were total leukocytes counts,lymphocytes,and *** also found a moderate phylogenetic signal for both the erythrogram and ***,body size accounted for a low proportion of variation in both the leukogram(4.7%)and erythrogram(0.57%).By applying phylogenetic comparative methods to hematological parameters,our results add a new perspective on the evolution of blood cell physiology in frogs.

Tailoring sub-5 nm Fe-doped CeO2 nanocrystals within confined spaces to boost photocatalytic hydrogen evolution under visible light

This work aimed to study the efficiency of the reverse micelle（RM） preparation route in the syntheses of sub-5 nm Fe-doped CeO2nanocrystals for boosting the visible-light-driven photocatalytic hydrogen production from methanol aqueous *** effectiveness of confining precipitation reactions within micellar cages was evaluated through extensive physicochemical cha *** particula r,the nominal composition（0-5 mol% Fe） was preserved as ascertained by ICP-Ms analysis,and the absence of separate iron-containing crystalline phases was supported by X-ray *** effective aliovalent doping and modulation of the optical properties were investigated using UV-Vis,Raman,and photoluminescence spectroscopies.2.5 mol% iron was found to be an optimal content to achieve a significant decrease in the band gap,enhance the concentration of oxygen vacancy defects,and increase the charge carrier *** photocatalytic activity of Fe-doped CeO2prepared at different Fe contents with RM preparation was studied and compared with undoped *** optimal iron load was identified to be2.5 mol%,achieving the highest hydrogen production(7566 μmol l-1after 240 min under visible light).Moreover,for comparison,the conventional precipitation（P） method was adopted to prepare iron containing CeO2at the optimal content（2.5 mol% Fe）.The Fe-doped CeO2catalyst prepared by RM showed a significantly higher hydrogen production than that obtained with the sample prepared by the P *** optimal Fe-doped CeO2,prepared by the RM method,was stable for six reuse ***,the role of water in the mechanism of photocatalytic hydrogen evolution under visible light was studied through the test in the presence of *** obtained results evidenced that hydrogen was produced from the reduction of H+by the electrons promoted in the conduction band,while methanol was preferentially oxidized by the photogenerated positive holes.

Combined Effect of Honey from Central West Brazil on Bacterial Membrane Permeability

Honey, an apicultural product with a complex chemical composition, contains numerous bioactive compounds with potential antimicrobial effects. This study investigated the effect of Apis mellifera honey from Brazil’s Central-West Region, combined with antibiotics, on bacterial membrane permeability, exploring the contributions of bioactive compounds and the botanical origin of honey. six fresh Apis mellifera honey samples and their fractions (hexane and ethyl acetate) were analyzed, for a total of 18 samples. The bacteria staphylococcus epidermidis, Helicobacter pylori and Enterococcus faecalis were used for antibacterial activity tests, which included minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) determination and synergistic effect (checkerboard) assays. The total polyphenol and flavonoid contents were quantified, and the botanical origin was determined based on pollen analysis. The tested honey samples significantly affected bacterial membrane permeability when combined with rifampicin and clarithromycin. Although many honey-derived bioactive compounds, when isolated, did not exhibit significant activity against these bacteria, the additive or synergistic effect of multiple compounds acting on different targets appears to potentiate the antibacterial action. Descriptive statistical analysis, including means and 95% confidence intervals, confirmed the relevance of the findings. This study has provided an important discovery: Honey has an effect on bacterial membrane permeability, although the specific mechanisms involved in this process require further investigation.

The bottlenose dolphin Tursiops truncatus foraging around a fish farm:Effects of prey abundance on dolphins' behavior

The extent to which prey abundance influences both bottlenose dolphin foraging behavior and group size in the presence of human activities has not previously been *** primary aim of this study was to identify and quantify how wild bottlenose dolphins respond,individually and as groups,to the relative abundance of prey around a fish *** views of dolphins' behavior were obtained by focal following individual animals whilst simultaneously collecting surface and underwater behavioral data.A total of 2150 dive intervals were analyzed,corresponding to 342 focal samples,lasting over 34 *** dolphins remained submerged for a mean duration of 46.4 seconds and a maximum of 249 *** study provides the first quantified data on bottlenose dolphin diving behavior in a marine fin-fish farm *** study's results indicate that within a fish farm area used intensively by bottlenose dolphins for feeding,dolphins did not modify dive ***,underwater observations confirmed that dolphins find it easier to exploit a concentrated food source and it appears that hunting tactic and not group size plays an important role during feeding ***,bottlenose dolphins appear capable of modifying their hunting tactics according to the abundance of *** top predators display behavioral responses to activities not directed at them,the task of studying all possible effects of human activities can become even more challenging.

This article is part of the ongoing study of the moderate geomagnetic activity of corotation. The aim here is to examine ionospheric anomalies through variations in Total Electronic Content (TEC) recorded at the Koudougou GPs station over solar cycle 24 during periods of corotation activity. Through the diurnal variations by solar phase, we observed a TEC peak at 14:00 Tl. The TEC data analysed revealed winter, annual and semi-annual anomalies. However, the equinoctial anomaly was insignificant during corotation activity at the Koudougou station during solar cycle 24.

Occasional Tillage in a Field Established under Conservation Agriculture for Tomato Cropping

The Conservation Agriculture (CA) is a current concept drives to save natural resources for agricultural production based on the minimum soil disturbance or no-tillage, crop rotation and permanent maintenance of straw on soil surface. The increasing in soil density is a problem to achieve great copping yield under CA, so occasional one-time tillage is considered as an alternative to continuous no-tillage. In this way, this experiment was carried out to compare occasional tillage and no-tillage interacting with cover crops in a field established under conservation agriculture. Thus, the experimental treatments were set up by two tillage methods, conventional tillage and no-tillage and two cover crops, white lupin and millet setting in a randomized blocks with split plot design with four replications. The traits evaluated in the research were soil fertility, soil resistance to penetration, soil moisture and tomato agronomic performance. No-tillage was more efficient to preserve soil moisture;however soil fertility, soil resistance to penetration and tomato yield were favored by conventional tillage. Regarding to cover crops white lupin increased the soil K concentration and enhanced the tomato growth. Although occasional tillage had better performance to the soil fertility and tomato yield, we highlighted that CA is the better way to increase soil health and soil and water conservation along the time leading to so desired regenerative agriculture.

Device performance and light characteristics stability of quantum-dot-based white-light-emitting diodes

Advances in image quality in recent decades have made it necessary to develop new technologies for producing displays to meet remarkably stricter standards. The display market is governed mainly by liquid crystal display and light-emitting diode （lED） technology; however, it suffers from limitations that can be overcome by developing the next generation of electroluminescent displays. The introduction of colloidal quantum dots （QDs） as down-converters has enabled the production of displays with extremely high color purity and gamut. Therefore, colloidal nanocrystals are excellent candidates for the preparation of electroluminescent devices, which represent a straightforward approach to the development of unprecedented high-quality displays. We synthesized light-emitting QDs covering the entire visible spectrum with high fluorescence quantum yields and color purity, and produced high-brightness single-color lEDs with external quantum efficiencies of 0.39%, 1.04%, 2.10%, and 1.30% for red-, orange-, green-, and blue-emitting dots, respectively. Additional136 white lEDs were prepared by mixing QDs; they showed color temperatures of 5,300 K and color rendering indices exceeding 80%. Very importantly, we exhaustively characterized the lED performance, including the response time, stability, and evolution of the light characteristics, thus providing crucial information toward the development of high-quality electroluminescent displays.
