Rainfall erosivity and erosivity density through rainfall synthetic series for Sao Paulo State,Brazil:Assessment,regionalization and modeling

Rainfall is the main cause of erosion of Brazilian soils,which makes assessing the rainfall erosivity factor(RE)and the erosivity density(ED)fundamental for soil and water ***,the objectives of this study were:i)to estimate the RE and ED for Sao Paulo State,Brazil,using synthetic series of pluviographic data;ii)to define homogeneous regions regarding rainfall erosivity;and iii)to generate regression models for rainfall erosivity estimates in each of the homogeneous *** series of pluviographic data were initially obtained on a sub-daily scale from the daily rainfall records of 696 rainfall *** RE values were then estimated from the synthetic rainfall data,and ED was calculated from the relationship between erosivity and rainfall *** and annual maps for RE and ED were *** clustering analysis was used to define homogeneous regions in terms of rainfall erosivity,and regionalized regression models for estimating RE were *** results demonstrate high spatial variability of RE in Sao Paulo,where the highest annual values were observed in the coastal *** to March concentrate approximately 60%of the intra-annual *** highest values of annual ED were observed in regions with intense agricultural *** definition of five homogeneous regions concerning the rainfall erosive potential evidenced distinct seasonal patterns of the spatial distribution of ***,the high predictive accuracy of the regionalized models obtained characterizes them as essential tools for reliable estimates of rainfall erosivity,and contribute to better soil conservation planning.

Mediastinal lymphadenectomy influences postoperative immune response after lung cancer surgery

The aim of the study was to calculate the amount of surgical injury caused by systematic lymphadenectomy of mediastinum in patients operated on due to non-small cell lung cancer,with uneventful postoperative *** study group consisted of 11 patients with cancer of the right lung(Group 1).The control group consisted of 12 patients with left lung cancer(Group 2).In patients with right lung cancer systematic lymphadenectomy,while in patients with left lung cancer systematic sampling was *** IL-6 and IL-1ra concentration was measured before and after surgery,and on postoperative day 1,3,and 7,as well as in sputum at the end of surgery and in pleural fluid on postoperative day 1,by ELISA *** blood lymphocyte(PBL) count was measured with flow *** of surgery was higher in patients with right than left lung cancer(154.1±31.29) vs(119.6±24.81) min;P=0.008) .The number of resected mediastinal lymph nodes was higher in patients with right than left lung cancer(27.6±7.6) vs(11.1 ±8.1);P=0.00006) .Postoperative decrease of PBL was significantly higher in group 1 than 2(1.25±0.37) vs(1.75 ±0.64) ×103/μL;P=0.04) .no significant differences were found in serum,pleural fluid and sputum concentration of IL-6 and IL -1ra between *** correlation between concentration of these cytokines in pleural fluid and number of resected mediastinal lymph nodes was found(Spearman test for IL-6:r=-0.723;Pnumber of "positive" n2 lymph nodes did not correlate with pleural fluid concentration of *** lymphadenectomy of the mediastinum causes immunosuppression,as measured by decreased count of PBL and a negative correlation between number of resected mediastinal lymph nodes and concentration of cytokines in pleural fluid.

Plectranthus amboinicus essential oil(PAEO)has the potential to be used by the food industry as a natural antimicrobial *** study aimed to evaluate the antibacterial activity of PAEO in vitro against pathogenic bacteria contaminating food and its potential for action when added to intentionally contaminated beef *** composition was determined by GC-MS and GC-FID,and thymol(45.64%)was the main compound present in the *** minimum inhibitory(MIC)and minimum bactericidal(MBC)concentration of the PAEO was evaluated against five pathogenic bacteria(Staphylococcus aureus,Listeria monocytogenes,Escherichia coli,Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Salmonella Typhimurium).The MIC of PAEO was the concentration ranges between 0.25 and 2 mg mL^(-1),and the MBC ranged from 1 to 4 mg mL^(-1).The anti-adhesion and removal of adhered cell assays indicated significant reductions(Pn at concentrations 8x lower than the MIC of *** patties samples were prepared with PAEO concentrations at MIC(2 mg mL^(-1))and sub-MIC(1 mg mL^(-1)).*** and *** were inoculated individually into the beef *** reductions were observed with a greater reduction in the 12th day of storage for ***(1.52 log CFU.g^(-1))and ***(0.93 log CFU.g^(-1))for beef patties with the MIC of *** has the potential to be applied in meat ***,the application and interactions of the oil in the food matrix need to be better elucidated.

Probe-based confocal endomicroscopy is accurate for differentiating gastric lesions in patients in a Western center

Objective： Probe-based confoeal laser endomicroscopy （pCLE） technique may improve the diagnosis of gastric mucosal lesions allowing acquisition of high-resolution in vivo images at the cellular and mierovaseular levels. This study aims to evaluate the accuracy of pCLE for the differential diagnosis of non-neoplastic and neoplastic gastric ***： Twenty gastric mucosal lesions from 10 patients were evaluated during endoscopic procedure and were examined by pCLE. Diagnostic pCLE was followed by biopsies or endoscopic resection of suspected lesions. A senior pathologist evaluated the specimens and was blinded to the pCLE ***： Patients＇ mean age was 68.3 （range, 42-83） years and six were men. Thirteen suspicious flat or elevated lesions （classified as 0-Is, 0-IIa or 0-IIa ＋ IIc） and seven pre-malignant lesions （atrophy and intestinal metaplasia） were evaluated. One patient was studied during his long-term follow-up after partial gastrectomy and presented severe atrophy, intestinal metaplasia, and xanthomas at the stump mucosa. The location of gastric lesions was in the body （n=10 lesions）, the antrum （n=9） and the incisura angularis （n=1）. All neoplastic lesions and all but one benign lesion were properly diagnosed by pCLE. pCLE incorrectly diagnosed one small antrum lesion as adenoma, however the final diagnosis was intestinal metaplasia. The final histological diagnosis was neoplastic in 9 and benign lesions in 11. In this small case series, pCLE accuracy was 95% （19/20 lesions）.Conclusions： pCLE is accurate for real time histology of gastric lesions, pCLE may change the management of patients with gastric mucosal lesions, guiding biopsies and endoscopic resection, and avoiding further diagnostic workup or unnecessary therapy.

Characterization of blood flow and the effects of exogenous estradiol benzoate on residual follicles formed after ultrasound-guided transvaginal follicle aspiration in cattle

Background： Removal of the follicular content by ultrasound-guided transvaginal follicle aspiration（TVFA） may fail to induce immediate atresia and loss of function, resulting in the occurrence of residual follicles（RF）. The aims of this study were to characterize the blood flow in RF and to determine the effects of the treatment with estradiol benzoate on RF fate. Lactating, cyclic Holstein-Gir crossbred cows were used. In Experiment 1, follicular wave emergence（D0） was synchronized in cows（n = 10） and follicular growth was then monitored by transrectal ultrasonography from D0 to D8, followed by TVFA of the largest follicle present on the ovaries 24 h later. Color Doppler ultrasound imaging was used to examine blood flow on the follicular wall, which was recorded immediately before and every 12 h after TVFA, up to 72 h. In experiment 2, cows（n = 22） were randomly allocated to receive either 2 mL of saline i.m.（Control group, n = 11） or 2 mL estradiol benzoate i.m.（EB group, n = 11）immediately after TVFA. Ovaries were scanned every 12 h to confirm the presence and to measure the diameter of RF. The contents of the RF, if present, were collected 72 h after the first TVFA, using the same aspiration *** fluid from original follicles and RF were stored at-20 °C until hormonal ***： In Experiment 1, there was no reduction（P 〉 0.05） of blood flow in the remaining follicle walls after TVFA and maximum blood flow values were observed at 49.5 ± 19.7 h post-TVFA. The study aims to identify Albian-age oil prospects in Block A of the San Pedro margin, Côte d’Ivoire, by conducting a detailed geological interpretation. The objective is to confirm the presence of oil reservoirs trapped by favorable geological structures, identifiable through geophysical and seismic methods. The methodological approach is based on a combined analysis of studies and seismic data. Drilling data from well PA, including well logs and end-of-well reports, were used to characterize the lithological formations encountered, particularly those of the Albian. 3D seismic profiles were interpreted to identify structures conducive to hydrocarbon accumulation. Isochrone, isovelocity, and isobath maps were developed to refine the interpretation. Sedimentological analyses revealed five sandy/gritty levels between 2610 m and 3100 m, interspersed with clay, limestone, and siltstone beds. The seismic profiles highlighted two main prospects. These prospects exhibit favorable geological structures, including normal faults and structural traps that provide oil traps.
