Background： natural disturbance is a fundamental component of the functioning of tropical rainforests let to natural dynamics, with tree mortality the driving force of forest renewal. With ongoing global （i.e. land-use and climate） changes, tropical forests are currently facing deep and rapid modifications in disturbance regimes that may hamper their recovering capacity so that developing robust predictive model able to predict ecosystem resilience and recovery becomes of primary importance for decision-making：（i） Do regenerating forests recover faster than mature forests given the same level of disturbance？（ii） is the local topography an important predictor of the post-disturbance forest trajectories？（iii） Is the community functional composition, assessed with community weighted-mean functional traits, a good predictor of carbon stock recovery？（iv） How important is the climate stress （seasonal drought and/or soil water saturation） in shaping the recovery trajectory？ Methods： Paracou is a large scale forest disturbance experiment set up in 1984 with nine 6.25 ha plots spanning on a large disturbance gradient where 15 to 60% of the initial forest ecosystem biomass were removed. More than 70,000 trees belonging to ca. 700 tree species have then been censused every 2 years up today. Using this unique dataset, we aim at deciphering the endogenous （forest structure and composition） and exogenous （local environment and climate stress） drivers of ecosystem recovery in time. To do so, we disentangle carbon recovery into demographic processes （recruitment, growth, mortality fluxes） and cohorts （recruited trees, survivors）. Results： Variations in the pre-disturbance forest structure or in local environment do not shape significantly the ecosystem recovery rates. Variations in the pre-disturbance forest composition and in the post-disturbance climate significantly change the forest recovery trajectory. Pernicious anemia: new insights from a gastroenterological point of view

Pernicious anemia (PA) is a macrocytic anemia that is caused by vitamin B12 defi ciency, as a result of intrinsic factor deficiency. PA is associated with atrophic body gastritis (ABG), whose diagnosis is based on histological confirmation of gastric body atrophy. Serological markers that suggest oxyntic mucosa damage are increased fasting gastrin and decreased pepsinogen .Without performing Schilling's test,intrinsic factor deficiency may not be proven, andintrinsic factor and parietal cell antibodies are useful surrogate markers of PA, with 73% sensitivity and 100% specificity. PA is mainly considered a disease of the elderly, but younger patients represent about 15% of patients. PA patients may seek medical advice due to symptoms related to anemia, such as weakness and asthenia. Less commonly, the disease is suspected to be caused by dyspepsia. PA is frequently associated with autoimmune thyroid disease (40%) and other autoimmune disorders, such as diabetes mellitus (10%), as part of the autoimmune polyendocrine syndrome. PA is the end-stage of ABG. Longstanding Helicobacter pylori infection probably plays a role in many patients with PA, in whom the active infectious process has been gradually replaced by an autoimmune disease that terminates in a burned-out infection and the irreversible destruction of the gastricbody mucosa. Human leucocyte antigen-DR genotypes suggest a role for genetic susceptibility in PA. PA patients should be managed by cobalamin replacement treatment and monitoring for onset of iron defi ciency. Moreover, they should be advised about possible gastrointestinal long-term consequences, such as gastric cancer and carcinoids.

The most recent information on fascial tissue indicates that there are not fascial layers, but polyhedral microvacuoles of connective tissue, which connect the body systems and, by hosting specialized cells, permit several functions, such as motor, nervous, vascular and visceral. These microvacuoles（a repetition of polyhedral units of connective fibrils） under internal or external tension change shape and can manage the movement variations, regulating different body functions and ensuring the maintenance of efficiency of the body systems. Their plasticity is based on perfect functional chaos： it is not possible to determine the motion vectors of the different fibrils, which differ in behavior and orientation; this strategy confers to the fascial continuum the maximum level of adaptability in response to the changing internal and external conditions of the cell. The present commentary deals with this concept, providing clinical examples of different disease patterns, providing contrary examples in which this adaptability does not occur, and lastly suggesting considerations for the approach to manipulative therapy of the fascial tissue. The fascial continuum is like a flock of birds flying together without a predetermined logic and maintaining their individuality at the same time.

Seismic fragility curves for structures using non-parametric representations

Fragility curves are commonly used in civil engineering to assess the vulnerability of structures to earthquakes. The probability of failure associated with a prescribed criterion （e.g., the maximal inter-storey drift of a building exceeding a certain threshold） is represented as a function of the intensity of the earthquake ground motion （e.g., peak ground acceleration or spectral acceleration）. The classical approach relies on assuming a lognormal shape of the fragility curves; it is thus parametric. In this paper, we introduce two non-parametric approaches to establish the fragility curves without employing the above assumption, namely binned Monte Carlo simulation and kernel density estimation. As an illustration, we compute the fragility curves for a three-storey steel frame using a large number of synthetic ground motions. The curves obtained with the non-parametric approaches are compared with respective curves based on the lognormal assumption. A similar comparison is presented for a case when a limited number of recorded ground motions is available. It is found that the accuracy of the lognormal curves depends on the ground motion intensity measure, the failure criterion and most importantly, on the employed method for estimating the parameters of the lognormal shape.

Employment of Waste from the Textile Industry for the Production of nanocomposites Aiming at the Generation of Thermal Shrinkable Films and the non-Formation of Microplastics

With the increase of incorrectly discarded materials in the environment, including clothes, the need for recycling and reusing them becomes one of the alternatives to work around this problem, following the law of the 3 Rs. However, these polymeric materials which are deposited in the marine environment and land generate microplastics, due to their degradation/fragmentation due to the action of the weather, in these regions, including being carried by the air and transported from various regions. With the aim of reducing the impact of this inappropriate disposal and obtaining a material that does not generate microplastics, this study used waste from the textile industry, which would be unusable, and a biodegradable polymer. The tissue residues were submitted to acid hydrolysis with sulfuric acid, in order to weaken the interactions between the cellulose fibrils and promote a better dispersion of the latter when processed with the polymer, during the extrusion process, generating biodegradable polymeric nanocomposites. The results showed that the samples submitted to acid hydrolysis presented a higher degree of crystallinity and a greater number of interactions and lower mobility of hydrogen atoms. In addition, the samples treated for a longer time showed a small release of fibrils, suggesting that this treatment can help in the production of nanocomposites during their extrusion.

为解决桥面连续简支梁桥的钢筋混凝土(RC)连接板易开裂的问题,提出采用抗拉强度高且抗裂性能较强的超高性能混凝土(UHPC)连接板并对其受弯性能进行研究。通过连接板构件受弯试验,对比了UHPC与RC连接板的荷载~跨中挠度曲线、裂缝发展规律、顺桥向挠度分布、混凝土应变和钢筋应变情况,并采用有限元模拟开展UHPC连接板关键设计参数分析,基于实测值研究UHPC连接板的最大裂缝宽度计算方法。结果表明:UHPC连接板的抗裂性能和抗弯刚度均优于RC连接板;采用UHPC连接板可减小连接板的局部弯曲应变;UHPC中的钢纤维可限制裂缝发展并使混凝土与钢筋共同受力;UHPC连接板厚度和无粘结层厚度对其极限弯矩存在影响,增大连接板厚度或减小无粘结层厚度可提高其极限弯矩;对比试验结果与不同规范、文献计算结果可知,受弯作用下UHPC连接板的最大裂缝宽度计算可参考钢-UHPC轻型组合桥面结构中UHPC板最大裂缝宽度的计算方法。

Rainfall erosivity and erosivity density through rainfall synthetic series for Sao Paulo State,Brazil:Assessment,regionalization and modeling

Rainfall is the main cause of erosion of Brazilian soils,which makes assessing the rainfall erosivity factor(RE)and the erosivity density(ED)fundamental for soil and water ***,the objectives of this study were:i)to estimate the RE and ED for Sao Paulo State,Brazil,using synthetic series of pluviographic data;ii)to define homogeneous regions regarding rainfall erosivity;and iii)to generate regression models for rainfall erosivity estimates in each of the homogeneous *** series of pluviographic data were initially obtained on a sub-daily scale from the daily rainfall records of 696 rainfall *** RE values were then estimated from the synthetic rainfall data,and ED was calculated from the relationship between erosivity and rainfall *** and annual maps for RE and ED were *** clustering analysis was used to define homogeneous regions in terms of rainfall erosivity,and regionalized regression models for estimating RE were *** results demonstrate high spatial variability of RE in Sao Paulo,where the highest annual values were observed in the coastal *** to March concentrate approximately 60%of the intra-annual *** highest values of annual ED were observed in regions with intense agricultural *** definition of five homogeneous regions concerning the rainfall erosive potential evidenced distinct seasonal patterns of the spatial distribution of ***,the high predictive accuracy of the regionalized models obtained characterizes them as essential tools for reliable estimates of rainfall erosivity,and contribute to better soil conservation planning.

整体桥上部结构在温度及地震作用下所产生的纵桥向变形极易导致混凝土桩的顶部区域发生破坏。扩孔并填充阻尼材料可形成扩孔隔震桩,提高整体桥中混凝土桩的抗震性能。以某整体桥的桥台下单桩为工程背景,考虑不同扩孔直径和阻尼填料(橡胶颗粒和泡沫),开展扩孔隔震桩-土相互作用受力性能拟静力试验研究。研究发现:达到最大荷载时,无扩孔试件出现桩-砂土分离现象;当扩孔直径为2倍桩径时,试件出现桩-阻尼填料和阻尼填料-砂土分离现象,当扩孔直径为3倍桩径时,填充橡胶颗粒的试件的桩身水平位移完全被橡胶颗粒所吸收。故扩孔直径是影响桩身水平位移在阻尼填料中传递方式的关键参数;与无扩孔试件相比,扩孔隔震试件的滞回曲线更加饱满且等效黏滞阻尼比更大,可以发挥阻尼材料的耗能特性;填充橡胶颗粒的耗能效果优于填充泡沫,这是因为松散橡胶颗粒的变形能力和自动复位特性有利于能量耗散,而泡沫的整体性使其黏滞性和减震性不能完全发挥;在扩孔深度范围内,扩孔隔震试件的p-y曲线刚度明显低于无扩孔试件(最大降幅达到45.1%);随着扩孔直径增大或阻尼材料刚度减小,地基土模量系数减小;与无扩孔试件相比,扩孔隔震试件最大荷载略大,初始刚度和桩身最大弯矩略小。
