Recognition of esophagitis in endoscopic images using transfer learning

Chlorhexidine is widely used in dentistry to treat various gingival conditions. Its side effects are widely described. Histologically, the gingiva consists of a stratified squamous epithelium, with a predominance of keratinocytes, the latter being fundamental in healing processes. Thus, the objective of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effects of a new product with active oxygen (blue®m) on keratinocytes. Keratinocytes (HACAT) were incubated with different concentrations of blue®m (1, 10 and 100 μl/ml), and another well was used as a control, without the presence of mouthwash. Hypertension Associated with Atherosclerosis Risk Factors in Patients of Family Health Strategy Highlighting the Framingham Risk Score

The Systemic Arterial Hypertension (SAH) stands out among the chronic non-transmissible pathologies that impact the cause and/or aggravation of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) on a global level, as the disease is an underestimated disorder due to non-perceptive symptoms and associated with factors and risk markers of another CVD. Therefore, establishing the risk of progression and aggravation of the SAH, according the Framingham Risk Score (FRS), allows to reducing morbidity and improving preventative measures for DCVs. This observational and transversal study approaches the data collection of patient records at the Health Family Strategy of Senhor do Bonfim, BA, which established differences by descriptive and inferential statistical analysis (correlation and regression). The aspects of hypertension associated with risk factors for atherosclerosis were analyzed, determining the risk of developing cardiovascular events in 10 years by FRS. From 432 families, 746 patients were selected, of which 340 are hypertensive individuals (SAH = 45.57%) and 406 (NSAH = 54.42%) non-hypertensives. Among the SAH the majority (31.17%) was in the age range of 63 - 77, but, in both groups, women were in stronger number. There was greater prevalence in SAH for all the characteristics analyzed, smoking (13.20%), sedentary (29.41%) and cardiovascular accident (22.60%). The SAH group is more susceptive to the CVD progress in 10 years by FRS (P despite the correlations have been significant too, the regression analysis revealed that only Total Cholesterol (P = 0.0086);LDL (P < 0.0001), Glucose (P < 0.0006) and Age (P < 0.0001) have significative association with FRS. The project analyzes the student＇s participation in complementary activities such as Education Tutorial Program, Junior Company and Academic Center. These organizations have the goal to improve, expand and connect knowledge learned during classes with several practical activities. They can provide a huge integration between the students and the professors in order to achieve better results in the pedagogical, structural and organizational parts of an engineering major degree. Therefore, the project goes through the impact of each entity in the student＇s life and the advantages to professional future, focusing the presence of these organizations in the Electrical Engineering Course of Federal University of Rio Grande do Norte.

Review on the effects of obesity treatment with acupuncture and phytoacupuncture

Objective:The purpose of this study is to review the impact on the usage of traditional Chinese medicine in the treatment of obesity,specifically the usage of acupuncture and ***:PubMed and Google Scholar databases were searched to identify randomized controlled trials,which the methodology focused on the use of acupuncture and phytoacupuncture for the treatment of obesity from the beginning of these databases to February 2018,supplementing with literature retrospective and manual ***:A total of 8 trials including 566 participants met the selected *** the alterations of the body mass index and waist circumference,acupuncture and phytoacupuncture seems to have a positive effect as opposed to the subjects who received superficial acupuncture or ***,there were other parameters that showed promising results such as improvements in the levels of(1)serum total cholesterol,low-density lipoprotein and serum fasting triglyceride,(2)serum insulin and leptin,plasma ghrelin and cholecystokinin and(3)serum pro-oxidant antioxidant balance,as well as improvements in(4)skin fat thickness in the upper limbs,trunk and abdomen,(5)abdominal fat and deep subcutaneous fat *** main acupoints employed in the selected studies are found along several meridians such as the stomach,spleen and conception vessel,and the plants used had the main objective of accelerating the metabolism,reducing appetite and resolving the unbalances in the genesis of ***:It is suggested that acupuncture and phytoacupuncture can be useful tools for weight *** combined with a life-style change,they can contribute to achieve better results than just a lifestyle change by ***,the need for further studies to clarify mechanisms of action and adequacy of protocols in order to obtain more homogeneous results is also present.

Pulmonary Lymphangioleiomyomatosis on a Post-Menopausal Woman with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia

A 62 years old, post-menopausal female was admitted to the Internal Medicine Ward due to dyspnoea, cough and sputum of at least 2 months. Shortness of breath, cough and hypoxaemia persisted and the patient was submitted to a pulmonary angiogram ct which revealed numerous thin-walled air cysts affecting upper and medial zones of both lungs, typical images of pulmonary lymphangioleiomyomatosis. After discharge to Internal Medicine Consultation Service with Metilprednisolone, the patient was no longer hypoxaemic and remained asymptomatic, even after withdrawal of oral corticosteroid to inhalatory formulation. Further surveillance in short time was scheduled in order to implement rapid imunossupressive treatment when necessary.

<i>Conyza sumatrensis</i>Intrapopulation Variation in Response to Glufosinate

We aimed to study the response of Conyza sumatrensis to different doses of glufosinate, intrapopulation variation in sensitivity to the herbicide, and the heritability of phenotypic response, and model the evolution of resistance. Three studies were conducted in the greenhouse with two repetitions. First, we tested doses of glufosinate (0, 50, 100, 200, 400, 800 g a.i. ha-1) plus a nontreated check, with four replications. Second, we examined the range in sensitivity of 44 plants to 200 g a.i. ha-1 glufosinate. Third, we evaluated the sensitivity of the progeny of six glufosinate-treated plants to 200 g a.i. ha-1 glufosinate. Plant response was evaluated visually and the ammonium content in leaf tissues was measured. Glufosinate at 400 g a.i. ha-1 caused the highest injury to *** plants. Ammonia accumulation occurred in response to glufosinate treatment, regardless of dose. Ammonia accumulation was correlated strongly with the level of visible plant injury;thus, it is a good indicator of herbicide efficacy. Sensitivity to glufosinate was highly variable within the population. Plants with high ammonia concentration (high injury) after treatment with glufosinate produced progenies that also had high ammonia concentrations after herbicide treatment. The variation in ammonia accumulation among siblings was high. Simulating the exclusion of plants that accumulated more ammonia produced a population that is expected to be less sensitive to glufosinate in the next generation. The stronger the selection pressures by a simulated treatment with glufosinate, the greater the reduction in ammonia accumulation in the progeny and expected sensitivity to glufosinate.

Aims We aimed at disentangling the effects of spatial distance,current and past environmental dissimilarity,and their combinations on tree community taxonomic and phylogenetic turnover by addressing the following questions:(i)Is tree community taxonomic and phylogenetic turnover related to the indirect effects of spatial distance via environmental dissimilarity?(ii)Does tree community taxonomic and phylogenetic turnover respond to paleoclimate(Last Glacial Maximum and Mid-Holocene)?Methods The study was carried out in 14 Atlantic rainforest sites in Brazil(20.4 ha sampled)containing 615 tree species from 83 plant *** obtained plot-level geographic coordinates and soil variables and site-level bioclimatic variables in the current,Mid-Holocene and Last Glacial *** used structural equation models with a distance-based approach to(i)test the direct effects of spatial distance and environmental dissimilarity and(ii)test the indirect effects of spatial distance via environmental dissimilarity on taxonomic(Bray–Curtis distance)and phylogenetic turnover(Comdist and Comdistnt distances).Important Findings Our results suggest a weak indirect effect of spatial distance via environmental dissimilarity on taxonomic and phylogenetic *** community turnover was driven by the direct effects of neutral,niche-based and historical ***,we inferred that the paleoclimate(historical processes)promoted the selection of the clades that gave rise to the current flora,while spatial distances(neutral processes)limited the dispersal range of species from the regional pool and environmental conditions(niche-based processes)locally selected the taxa that are able to persist.
