The analysis of wave effects above salinity is important in ord.r to d.fine mixing processes and.their potential to change d.nsity grad.ents, since action in the region of the Patos Lagoon plume is highly d.namic. This paper aims to evaluate the influence of waves on the mixing pattern of the ad.acent continental shelf. Constantly marked.by tid.s and.circulation variations, changing from flood.to ebb tid., salinity stand. as a major parameter for analysis. The stud. is based.on hyd.od.namic numerical mod.ling experiments using the TELEMAC3d.mod.l and.waves generated.by the wind.using the TOMAWAC coupled.mod.l. The comparison between the situations consid.ring the waves generated.by the wind.and.without waves was mad. through time series analysis, stratification series, transversal cross sections, longitud.nal cross sections, salinity mean field. and.d.agrams by Richard.on and.Brünt-V?is?l?s frequency parameters. With the cross sections analysis, the mixing effect generated.by the waves was observed. d.monstrating clearly that the waves were capable of raising the superficial salinity in regions far from the Patos Lagoon entrance, while at the entrance, the wave effects enhanced.the mixing on the d.epest layers, d.creasing the saline intrusion and.expand.ng the plume more rad.ally on the surface. The space-temporal d.agrams were effective to d.monstrate the mod.lation effect of the waves over the salt mixing of saline waters, revealing that wave effects d.crease the stratification as well as the Brünt-V?is?l?s frequency and.increase the period.of buoyancy, d.e to the mixing increase.

d.scharge of whey proteins is still a current practice by small cheese prod.cers. The d.velopment of low-cost alternatives for recovery of these proteins is fund.mental for small prod.cers who cannot apply expensive techniques. The present stud. investigated.the complex coacervation technique as a cheap technology to recover proteins from sweet whey using carboxymethylcellulose, and.the coacervate used.as an ingred.ent in the formulation of probiotic fermented.milk. The nutritional properties of whey-carboxymethylcellulose coacervates (WP-CMC) were evaluated.in trials with animals (rats) using casein as a reference. All these parameters—the coefficient of feed.efficiency (CEA), protein d.gestibility-corrected.amino acid.score (Pd.AAS), and.net protein ratio (NPR), as well as weight gain—were d.termined.to evaluate protein quality. A sensory acceptance test was applied.to evaluate the sensory characteristics of the prod.ct. The complex coacervation technique recovered.86% of the protein from sweet whey. No significant (p > 0.05) d.fferences were observed.in the biological tests for both groups (WP-CMC and.Casein groups) when NPR (4.98 to 5.04), d.gestibility (92.35 to 90.64), and.CEA (0.40 to 0.42) were evaluated. Probiotic fermented.milk beverage containing WP-CMC (0.78%) and.guar gum (0.68%) presented.good.acceptability as d.termined.by sensory evaluation. WP-CMC can be consid.red.an ingred.ent with high nutritional and.biological value that could.be applied.in probiotic fermented.milk as an alternative to small prod.cers to allocate the resid.al whey from cheese manufacture.

Objective: To report atypical morphological features of Trichophyton(T.) tonsurans strains associated.with tinea capitis. Method.: Eighty-two T. tonsurans strains isolated.in Ceará, Brazil, were analyzed.regard.ng macro and.micromorphological features and.nutritional patterns. Results: Fifty-two samples presented.abund.nt chlamyd.conid.a, which were prod.ced.in chains. Macroscopically, these strains d.veloped.small glabrous colonies that were firmly attached.to the surface of the culture med.um, with few or no aerial mycelia and.intense rusty yellow pigmentation. Seven strains d.d.not grow with stimulus from thiamine. Samples were heterogeneous regard.ng urease prod.ction and.none presented.in vitro hair perforation. Conclusions: The observation of T. tonsurans strains with d.stinct phenotypic features ind.cates the need.to revise the taxonomic criteria for routine id.ntification of this d.rmatophyte.

Microorganisms have the ability to prod.ce several metabolites, which are wid.ly used.in biotechnological processes, includ.ng the biological catalysts called.enzymes. Among these enzymes, lipases are favored.because they perform various catalytic reactions such as hyd.olysis, esterification, interesterification and.transesterification. This work sought to isolate filamentous fungi from samples collected.in d.amantina, Minas Gerais, Brazil, analyze their macroscopic morphological characteristics, d.termine the effect of temperature on their growth, and.verify which organisms are potential lipase prod.cers. From four collection sites, nine fungi were isolated.from the leaves and.soil of the jabuticaba (Plinia cauliflora) tree and three fungi from the Andu bean leaves (Cajanus cajan). The macroscopic morphological characteristics of the microorganisms were analyzed. For thermophilic analysis, the twelve isolated fungi and eight obtained from the laboratory bank were cultivated in a solid Potato-Dextrose-Agar medium from 30°C to 50°C, with intervals of 5°C. The growth rate per hour after 48 hours of development was calculated. For the selection of filamentous lipase-producing fungi, the 20 fungi were cultivated in solid BDA medium at 30d.na;">°C for 96 hours, and.the enzyme ind.x was calculated. It was found.that, of the 20 microorganisms, 95% d.veloped.at 30°C, and.the highest growth rates were those of fungi 3.2TA, PJ8 and.PJ7. At 35°C, 70% of the fungi d.veloped. and.the highest growth rates were those of fungi 3.2TA, MB2.2 and.P3. At 40°C, 40% of the fungi d.veloped. and.the highest growth rates were those of fungi 3.2TA, PJ6 and.PJ8. At

Appropriate information on solar resources is very important for a variety of technological areas, such as agriculture, meteorology, forestry engineering, and.water resources, particularly for an innovative technology such as solar energy. In the market entry process of an innovative technology such as solar energy, the increased.and.sustained.d.ployment of this energy technology strongly d.pend. on the economy and.reliability of the solar systems installed. The economy and.reliability of a system are the consequences of a well-prepared.project, resulting from an accurate knowled.e of the solar resource available. Therefore, knowing the potential of the solar resource accurately is not only a need.but also an imperative for the larger d.ffusion and.use of the solar energy. The existing sources of the information on rad.ation in MG are quite varied. both at the institutional level and.in d.fferent types of publications. The publications containing this information are project reports, internal reports of institutions, and.several magazines. Thus, the quality of the d.ta varies consid.rably, the information presents spatial and.temporal d.scontinuity;moreover, the instruments and.the measurement units are not stand.rd.sed. The general objective of this paper is to recover, to qualify, to stand.rd.ze, and.to make available the best information from the current existing solar resource in MG, Brazil, either in the form of isoline charts of solar rad.ation or a numerical d.tabase. In this paper, the proced.re to elaborate the maps of d.ily solar rad.ation and.insolation, along with the monthly and.annual averages, is d.scribed. We present one map with the localisation of the record.ng stations in ad.ition to one annual and.12 monthly contour maps. The map of the d.ily global solar irrad.ation and.the annual average d.termined.in this project show that solar rad.ation on the state of Minas Gerais ranges from 4.5 to 6.5 kWh/m2.
