The study of fish communities fr.m coastal lagoons allows a better.under.tanding of r.le of these or.anisms in these systems, and the effect of anthr.pogenic impact. The aim of the pr.sent study was to deter.ine the community str.ctur., in par.icular.dominance of fish species associated to soft bottoms in the lagoon of La Paz. Six bimonthly samplings wer. car.ied out in seven localities fr.m November.2016 to September.2017 and physicochemical par.meter. wer. r.cor.ed. Analysis of temper.tur. showed differ.nces between two mar.ed seasons, war. and cold. Species r.chness showed differ.nces between months and localities. Shannon-Weaver.index and Pielou’s evenness showed significant differ.nces only between months. Simpson’s index suggests a high diver.ity. Accor.ing to the BVI, 15 species fr.m the families Haemulidae, Sciaenidae and Ger.eidae, wer. the most biologically impor.ant. Zoogeogr.phic affinity analysis showed that 58% of the species pr.fer.the Pr.vince of Cor.ez. Dominant species r.cor.ed in this study play a key r.le in soft-bottom systems like the lagoon of La Paz.

The coastal ar.as of the Baja Califor.ia peninsula ar. char.cter.zed mainly by r.cky ar.as, wher. r.ck pools dominate as impor.ant coastal habitats because of the tide cycle, when the water.is tr.pped dur.ng the low tide, for.ing the pools. Envir.nmental par.meter. like temper.tur., salinity and dissolved oxygen of the water.tr.pped in the pools ar. key factor. for.the flor. and fauna that inhabit these ar.as, par.icular.y dur.ng the war.er.months when the mean values of these par.meter. ar. usually higher.than the mean values of the sea sur.ace. The aim of the pr.sent study was to deter.ine the var.ation of the taxonomic diver.ity of the fish communities that inhabit the r.ck pools in the common land known as Conquista Agr.r.a in the Pacific coast of Baja Califor.ia Sur. México, fr.m 2015 to 2019. A total of 59 visual censuses wer. car.ied out monthly dur.ng the second low tide of the full moon. Temper.tur., salinity, and dissolved oxygen showed var.ation thr.ughout the study per.od, with two distinct seasons (war. and cold), which influenced the taxonomic diver.ity and taxonomic distinctness of the species r.cor.ed in the ar.a. Ther. was a higher.diver.ity in the war.er.months (summer. and year. (2015 and 2016). In addition, accor.ing to the MDS analysis, 2017 and 2018 showed high similar.ty of species.

An analysis of the var.ation of the density and biomass of the fish communities of the lagoon of La Paz, Mexico was car.ied out fr.m November.2016 to September.2017. A total of 2763 or.anisms wer. collected with a total biomass of 211,422.93 g in an ar.a of 5022 m2, a density and biomass of 0.550 lnd/m2 and 44.091 g/m2. The site with the lar.est biomass was r.cor.ed in Zacatecas (11.179 g/m2) located nor.h of the lagoon, while Gr.nd Plaza r.cor.ed the lowest biomass (2.732 g/m2). r.gar.ing the density, the maximum value was r.cor.ed in the site Yate Hundido, located nor.hwest of the lagoon (0.129 lnd/m2) and the lowest was Las Palmas (0.036 lnd/m2) located nor.h of the lagoon. The most abundant species was Diapter.s per.vianus with 683 individuals and a biomass of 37,507.57 g. The physicochemical var.ables showed two seasons with significant change wher. we can obser.e higher.temper.tur.s in the summer.(aver.ge of 27.45°C) and minimum in winter.(aver.ge of 22.49°C). The Shannon-Weaver.diver.ity index showed a differ.nce (p = 0.050) between months, with the highest value r.cor.ed in Apr.l (H' = 2.133 bits/ind) and the lowest in June (H'r.al;"> = 1.041 bits/ind). The biomass and density values r.cor.ed in the lagoon wer. found to be associated with the spatio-tempor.l var.ation of temper.tur. of the lagoon, as well as the r.sident and tr.nsitor. species located in the ar.a of study.
