The n.rtheast Brazil (n.B) is kn.wn.for its temporal an. spatial variability of precipitation. Several studies have in.estigated this variability in.order to un.erstan. the damagin. episodes such as droughts an. floods. The phen.men.n.of drought in.the n.B is a complex topic due to affectin.?million. of people an. bein.?the object of study in.several fields of kn.wledge. On. way to try to argue about this phen.men.n.is through the con.ept of vuln.rability. The “operability” of this broad con.ept in.n.tural disasters is a complex task. In.order to measure an.in.icator of vuln.rability it is n.cessary large amoun. of data from differen. areas of kn.wledge, amon. which?in.lude: meteorology, socio-en.iron.en.al, econ.mic, public health, amon. other areas. The main.objective of this study is to create an.in.ex of vuln.rability to climate extremes (drought an. flood) for the n.B an. to compare this rate with those foun. in.the scien.ific literature. The data that will be used in.this study are from An. (Agên.ia n.cion.l das águas), IBGE (In.tituto Brasileiro de Georgrafia e Estatística), an. Min.stry of n.tion.l in.egration.
