Helicobacter pylori HopE and.HopV porins present scarce expression among clinical isolates

AIM:To evaluate how wid.ly Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori ) HopE and.HopV porins are expressed.among Chilean isolates and.how seroprevalent they are among infected.patients in ***: H. pylori hopE and.hopV genes d.rived.from strain CHCTX-1 were cloned.by polymerase chain reaction (PCR), sequenced.and.expressed.in Escherichia coli Ad.94 (d.3). Gel-purified.porins were used.to prepare polyclonal antibod.es. The presence of both genes was tested.by PCR in a collection of H. pylori clinical isolates and.their expression was d.tected.in lysates by immunoblotting. Immune responses against HopE, HopV and.other H. pylori antigens in sera from infected.and.non-infected.patients were tested.by Western blotting using these sera as f irst antibod. on recombinant H. pylori ***: PCR and.Western blotting assays revealed.that 60 and.82 out of 130 Chilean isolates carried.hopE and.hopV genes, respectively, but only 16 and.9, respectively, expressed.these porins. IgG serum immunoreactivity evaluation of 69 H. pylori-infected.patients revealed.that HopE and.HopV were infrequently recognized.(8.7% and.10.1% respectively) compared.to H. pylori VacA (68.1%) and.CagA (59.5%) antigens. Similar values were d.tected.for IgA serum immunoreactivity against HopE (11.6%) and.HopV (10.5%) although lower values for VacA (42%) and.CagA (17.4%) were obtained.when compared.to the IgG ***: A scarce expression of HopE and.HopV among Chilean isolates was found. in agreement with the infrequent seroconversion against these antigens when tested.in infected.Chilean patients.

Aphid. are major agricultural pests that cause significant yield.losses of crop plants each year. Excessive d.pend.nce on insec- ticid.s for long-term aphid.control is und.sirable because of the d.velopment of insecticid. resistance, the potential negative effects on non-target organisms and.environmental pollution. Transgenic crops engineered.for resistance to aphid. via a non-toxic mod. of action could.be an efficient alternative strategy. （E）-β-Farnesene （EβF） synthases catalyze the formation of EβF, which for many pest aphid. is the main component of the alarm pheromone involved.in the chemical communication within these species. EβF can also be synthesized.by certain plants but is then normally contaminated.with inhibitory compound.. Engineering of crop plants capable ofsynthesizing and.emitting EβF could.cause repulsion of aphid. and.also the attraction of natural enemies that use EβF as a foraging cue, thus minimizing aphid.infestation. In this review, the effects of aphid. on host plants, plants＇ d.fenses against aphid.herbivory and.the recruitment of natural enemies for aphid.control in an agricultural setting are briefly introd.ced. Furthermore, the plant-d.rived.EβF synthase genes cloned.to d.te along with their potential roles in generating novel aphid.resistance via genetically mod.fied.approaches are d.scussed.

Assessment of Risk of Establishment of Wheat d.arf Bunt (Tilletia controversa) in China

Wheat d.arf bunt, caused.by Tilletia controversa Kühn （TCK）, is an important quarantine wheat d.sease throughout the world. Based.on published.research results of the biology and.the epid.miology of the d.sease, the main factors includ.ng temperature, humid.ty, snow cover, and.their parameters relating to teliospore germination, infection and.epid.mics of TCK were d.termined. The geophytopathological mod.ls for the risk analysis of wheat d.arf bunt establishment were mod.fied. Fifty-year meteorologic d.ta from about 500 weather stations in China were used.to calculate the probabilities of TCK establishment in d.fferent geographic sites with the mod.ls. The map that d.splays the establishment risk of TCK in winter wheat growing regions in China was generated.by using geographical information system （GIS）. The zones showing high, mod.rate, low, and.very low, includ.ng no risk, of TCK establishment accounted.for 27.33, 27.69, 38.12, and.6.86% of total winter wheat growing areas in China, respectively. These results will provid. useful information to formulate quarantine regulations and.wheat importation policy in China.

Soluble epoxid. hyd.olase(sEH) is related.to arachid.nic acid.cascad. and.is over-expressed.in a variety of d.seases, making sEH an attractive target for the treatment of pain as well as inflammatory-related.d.seases. A new series of memantyl urea d.rivatives as potent sEH inhibitors was obtained.using our previous reported.compound.4 as lead.compound. A preferential mod.fication of piperid.nyl to 3-carbamoyl piperid.nyl was id.ntified.for this series via structure-based.rational d.ug d.sign. Compound.A20 exhibited.mod.rate percentage plasma protein bind.ng(88.6%) and.better metabolic stability in vitro. After oral ad.inistration, the bioavailability of A20 was 28.6%. Acute toxicity test showed.that A20 was well tolerated.and.there was no ad.erse event encountered.at d.se of 6.0 g/kg. Inhibitor A20 also d.splayed.robust analgesic effect in vivo and.d.se-d.pend.ntly attenuated.neuropathic pain in rat mod.l ind.ced.by spared.nerve injury, which was better than gabapentin and.sEH inhibitor(±)-EC-5026. In one word. the oral ad.inistration of A20 significantly alleviated.pain and.improved.the health status of the rats, d.monstrating that A20 was a promising cand.d.te to be further evaluated.for the treatment of neuropathic pain.
