Commercial A7020-T6 plates in the overaged state were subjected to friction stir welding with four different tool rotational speeds of 500, 710, 1000, and 1400 r/min and a single traverse feed rate of 40 mm/min. The resultant changes in the welding heat input, microstructure, and the mechanical properties of the joints were investigated. The changes were related to the processes of growth, dissolution, and re-formation of precipitates. The precipitate evolution was examined by differential scanning calorimetry, and the microstructural analysis was conducted using optical, scanning, and transmission electron microscopes. The results showed that the grain size in the stirred zone(SZ) decreased substantially compared with the base metal, but increased with tool rotational speed because of the rise in temperature. We found that the width of the heat-affected zone increased with tool rotational speed. The hardness and the tensile strength in the SZ increased with increasing heat input compared with the base metal in the overaged condition. This recovery in mechanical properties of the joints can be attributed to the dissolution and re-formation of precipitates in the SZ and the thermomechanically affected zone. This process is referred to as an "auto-aging treatment."

Colorful visual signals are important systems for investigating the effects of signaling environments and receiver physiology on signal evolution as predicted by the sensory drive hypothesis. Support for the sensory drive hypothesis on color signal evolution is mostly based on documenting correlations between the properties of signals and habitat conditions under which the signals are given (i.e., a correlational approach) and less commonly on the use of mathematical models that integrate representations of visual environments, signal properties, and sensory systems (i.e., a functional approach). Here, we used an experimental approach in the field to evaluate signal efficacy of colorful lizard throat fans called dewlaps that show geographic variation in the lizard We used a remote controlled apparatus to display "fake dewlaps" to wild lizards to test for adaptive divergence in dewlap brightness (i.e., perceived intensity) among populations . We found evidence of local adaptation in dewlap brightness consistent with the sensory drive hypothesis. Specifically, dewlaps that had the brightness characteristics of local lizards were more likely to be detected than those with the brightness characteristics of non-local lizards. Our findings indicate that simplified mathematical representations of visual environments may allow robust estimates of relative detectability or conspicuousness in natural habitats. We have shown the feasibility of evaluating color signal efficacy experimentally under natural conditions and demonstrate the potential advantages of presenting isolated components of signals to an intended receiver to measure their contribution to signal function.

Shoot-to-root communication is crucial for plant acclimation to phosphorus （P）-deficiency. Both sugars and mirNAs have been implicated as potential signal molecules transported through phloem from shoot to root for the reg- ulation of gene expression and Pi uptake in the root. By studying the expression patterns of both a serine/threonine phos- phatase gene （PvHAD1） and microrNA399 （mir399） in common bean （Phaseolus vulgaris L.）, we provide evidence for the interaction between light, phloem transport, and mir399 in the systemic regulation of gene expression under P-deficiency. Especially, mir399 expression in both the shoot and the root requires photosynthetic carbon assimilation during the onset of P-deficiency. In contrast to systemic signaling, local sensing was the primary causal factor for rapid down-regulation of PvHAD1 by Pi prior to the reduction of mir399 level in P-deficient roots. Furthermore, this initial response to Pi in P-de- ficient root was also mimicked by the Pi analog, phosphonate （Phi）. Our current findings suggest that plants have developed a highly coordinated dual regulatory pathway, namely long-distance signaling of P-deficiency from shoot to root versus local sensing of Pi in the root.

The molecular mechanisms mediating herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) gene silencing during latent infection arenot clear. Five copies of early growth response gene 1 (Egr-1) binding elements were identified in the intron of HSV-1ICP22 (infected cell protein No. 22) gene, leading to the hypothesis that Egr-1 binds to the viral genome and regulates theviral gene expression. Transient co-transfection assays indicated that Egr-1 negatively regulated the transcription of bothfull-length and intron-removed ICP22 promoters. The same assays also revealed that Egr-1 repressed ICP4 (infected cellprotein No. 4) promoter activity in a dose-dependent manner but showed less inhibition when the intron was *** deacetylation was not involved in this regulation since histone deacetylase inhibitor trichostatin Adid not exhibitany effect on Egr-1-mediated repression. Chromatin immunoprecipitation assays showed that Egr-1 reduced the bindingof Spl to the promoters and that the co-repressor Nab2 (NGFI-A/EGr1-binding protein) was recruited to the proximityof ICP4 in the presence of Egr-1. These results suggested that the multifunctional transcription factor Egr-1 can repressHSV-1 immediate-early gene expression through the recruitment of co-repressor Nab2 and reduction of Sp1 occupancy,and thus may play a critical role in HSV-1 gene silencing during latency.

It has been reported that one of the factors that promotes tumoral progression is the abnormal activation of the epithelial-mesenchymal transition program. This process is associated with tumoral cells acquiring invasive and malignant properties and has the transcription factor zinc finger E-box-binding homeobox 1 （ZEB1） as one of its main activators. However, the role of ZEB1 in promoting malignancy in prostate cancer （PC, a） is still unclear. Here, we report that ZEB1 expression correlates with Gleason score in PCa samples and that expression of ZEB1 regulates epithelial-mesenchymal transition and malignant characteristics in PCa cell lines. The results showed that ZEB1 expression is higher in samples of higher malignancy and that overexpression of ZEB1 was able to induce epithelial-mesenchymal transition by upregulating the mesenchymal marker Vimentin and downregulating the epithelial marker E-Cadherin. On the contrary, ZEB 1 silencing repressed Vimentin expression and upregulated E-Cadherin. ZEB1 expression conferred enhanced motility and invasiveness and a higher colony formation capacity to 22rvl cells whereas DU145 cells with ZEB1 silencing showed a decrease in those same properties. In this paper, we study the top content of nucleon by analyzing azimuthal asymmetries in lepton-nucleon deep inelastic scattering(DIS), also we search for the Higgs boson associated production channel, tˉt H, at the large hadron-electron collider(LHe C) caused by boson-gluon fusion(BGF) contribution. We use azimuthal asymmetries inγ*Q cross sections in terms of helicity contributions to semi-inclusive deep inelastic scattering to investigate numerical properties of the cos 2? distribution. We conclude that measuring azimuthal distributions caused by intrinsic heavy quark production can directly probe heavy quarks inside nucleon. Moreover, in order to estimate the probability of producing the Higgs boson, we suggest another approach in the framework of calculating tˉt cross section in boson-gluon fusion mechanism. Finally, we can confirm that this observed massive particle is referred to Higgs boson produced by fermion loop.

Exergy analysis of r1234ze（Z） as high temperature heat pump working fluid with multi-stage compression

In this paper, the simulation approach and exergy analysis of multi-stage compression high tempera- ture heat pump （HTHP） systems with r1234ze（Z） working fluid are conducted. Both the single-stage and multi-stage compression cycles are analyzed to compare the system performance with 120℃ pressurized hot water supply based upon waste heat recovery. The exergy destruction ratios of each component for different stage compression systems are compared. The results show that the exergy loss ratios of the compressor are bigger than that of the evaporator and the condenser for the single-stage compres- sion system. The multi-stage compression system has better energy and exergy etticiencies with the increase of compression stage number. Compared with the single- stage compression system, the coefficient of performance （COP） improvements of the two-stage and three-stage compression system are 9.1% and 14.6%, respectively. When the waste heat source temperature is 60℃, the exergy efficiencies increase about 6.9% and 11.8% for the two-stage and three-stage compression system respec- tively.

A class of second-order differential equations commonly arising in physics applications are considered,and their explicit hypergeometric solutions are provided. Further, the relationship with the Generalized and Universal Associated Legendre Equations are examined and established. The hypergeometric solutions, presented in this work,will promote future investigations of their mathematical properties and applications to problems in theoretical physics.
