The relative changes between shear and compressional velocities(RsP=(?)ln Vs/(?) ln VP),bulk sound and shear velocities (RCs=(?) ln VC/(?) ln Vs),and density versus shear wave velocity(Rρs=(?) lnρ/(?) ln Vs) in response to thermal and chemical variations were investigated for the pyrolitic lower *** heterogeneities with thermal origins,RsPincreases from 1.7 to 2.0 together with Rρsdecreasing from 0.4 to 0.2 and RCs=～0.27 from the top to the bottom of the lower *** comparison,chemical variations (bulk iron or silica contents) are characterized by RsPs>0.5 at lower mantle *** values of Rρsand RCsare indicative of chemical anomalies in the lower mantle,but a combination of thermal and chemical heterogeneities may be required to produce velocity and density anomalies at the magnitudes observed in seismic *** refinement of these characteristics requires data on the higher order pressure and temperature derivatives of the elastic moduli of the constituent phases.

The dry deposition process refers to the flux loss of an atmospheric pollutant due to uptake of the pollutant by the earth’s *** deposition flux of a chemical species is typically calculated as the product of its surface-layer concentration and its dry deposition velocity(V_(d)).Field measurement based V_(d) data are very scarce or do not exist for many chemical species considered in chemistry transport *** the present study,gaseous and particulate dry deposition schemes were applied to generate a database of hourly V_(d) for 45 gaseous species and three particle size ranges for two years(2016–2017)at a 15 kmby 15 km horizontal resolution across North *** V_(d) of the 45 gaseous species ranged fromsec across the whole domain,with chemical species-dependentmedian(mean)values being in the range of 0.018–1.37 cm/sec(0.05–1.43 cm/sec).The spatial distributions of the two-year average V_(d) showed values higher than 1–3 cm/sec for those soluble and reactive species over certain land *** species have the highest V_(d) over water surfaces,while insoluble but reactive species have the highest V_(d) over *** V_(d) of PM_(2.5) across the whole domain ranged from 0.039 to 0.75 cm/sec with median(mean)value of 0.18(0.20)cm s^(−1),while the mean V_(d) for PM_(2.5)–10 is twice that of PM_(2.5).Uncertainties in the modeled V_(d) are typically on the order of a factor of 2.0 or larger,which needs to be considered when applying the dataset in other studies.

We articulate a novel approach to geometric model completion via interactive sketches in this ***,the initial incomplete model (with holes) is decomposed into a base model and a high-frequency component,which represents global rough shape and geometric details,*** then repair the base model via smooth hole-filling,and compute the geometry detail image using high frequency *** novel element of our approach is that we allow users to interactively sketch a few structural curves that span across hole regions,with a goal to repair both local geometric details and global *** the help of local parameterization,we convert detailed geometry into gradient-domain images which can propagate along user-specified *** integrating recovered gradient-domain images and base shape,we can generate a complete model that faithfully recovers both global structure and local *** salient contribution of this paper is the unified approach for user interaction,global structure,and geometry details towards high-fidelity model *** demonstrate our new approach using a number of examples that exhibit salient global structure as well as local geometry details.

The embedded boundary method for solving elliptic and parabolic problems in geometrically complex domains using Cartesian meshes by Johansen and Colella （1998, J. Comput. Phys. 147, 60） has been extended for elliptic and parabolic problems with interior boundaries or interfaces of discontinuities of material properties or solutions. second order accuracy is achieved in space and time for both stationary and moving interface problems. The method is conservative for elliptic and parabolic problems with fixed interfaces. Based on this method, a front tracking algorithm for the stefan problem has been developed. The accuracy of the method is measured through comparison with exact solution to a two-dimensional stefan problem. The algorithm has been used for the study of melting and solidification problems.

Objective Positive surgical margins(PsMs)after radical prostatectomy(RP)indicate failure of surgery to completely clear *** confer an increased risk of biochemical recurrence(BCR),but how more robust outcomes are affected is *** study investigated factors associated with PsMs following RP and determined their impact on clinical outcomes(BCR,second treatment[radiotherapy and/or androgen deprivation therapy],and prostate cancer-specific mortality[PCsM]).Methods The study cohort included men diagnosed with prostate cancer(pT2-3b/N0/M0)between January 1998 and June 2016 who underwent RP from the south Australian Prostate Cancer Clinical Outcomes Collaborative *** associated with risk of PsMs were identified using Poisson *** impact of PsMs on clinical outcomes(BCR,second treatment,and PCsM)was assessed using competing risk *** Of the 2827 eligible participants,28%had PsMs—10%apical,6%bladder neck,17%posterolateral,and 5%at multiple *** follow-up was 9.6 years with 81 deaths from prostate cancer *** of PsM increased with higher pathological grade and pathological tumor stage,and greater tumour volume,but decreased with increasing surgeon volume(odds ratio[OR]:0.93;95%confidence interval[CI]:0.88-0.98,per 100 previous prostatectomies).PsMs were associated with increased risk of BCR(adjusted sub-distribution hazard ratio[sHR]2.5;95%CI 2.1-3.1)and second treatment(sHR 2.9;95%CI 2.4-3.5).Risk of BCR was increased similarly for each PsM location,but was higher for multiple margin *** found no association between PsMs and *** Our findings support previous research suggesting that PsMs are not independently associated with PCsM despite strong association with *** PsM rates remains an important objective,given the higher likelihood of secondary treatment with associated comorbidities.

isCORE is a digital tool, available without charge, which was designed for students who take lessons from independent music teachers. One of the challenges of this learning format is that students must develop strategies to practice on their own between lessons, isCORE can help meet that challenge by supporting students as they develop strategies for self-regulation to enhance their goal-setting, practice strategies, and abilities to reflect and critique their progress. This paper describes a case study of a 15-year-old pianist who learned to play a difficult piece of repertoire by using isCORE to archive and compare performances, develop strategies, and reflect on his learning.
