The induction generator ef.ect(IGE)and the openloop modal proximity(OLMP)are tw. dif.erent reasons w.y subsynchronous oscillations(SSOs)in a series-compensated pow.r system(SCPS)may *** IGE attributes the grow.ng SSOs to negative resistance,w.ile the OLMP explains the SSO mechanism f.om the standpoint of.modal *** this paper,w. investigate the connections betw.en the IGE and the OLMP through equivalent RLC circuit and open-loop modal *** investigation is conducted f.r tw. types of.seriescompensated pow.r systems w.ere either a synchronous generator or a Df.G is connected at the sending *** investigation reveals the conditions,in w.ich the IGE and the OLMP may jointly cause the grow.ng SSOs,i.e.,both the IGE and the OLMP can explain w.y the grow.ng SSOs ***,the investigation indicates that the IGE and the OLMP may be totally irrelevant and lead to grow.ng SSOs *** implies that it is possible that in a SCPS,the grow.ng SSOs are only due to the IGE,and the OLMP is non-existent,and vice ***,w.en the grow.ng SSOs occurs in a SCPS,examination based on both the IGE and the OLMP should be caref.lly conducted in order to f.nd if.the oscillatory instability is due to the IGE,or the OLMP,or both of.them.

Quantum physics rules the dynamics of.small objects as they interact over microscopic length ***,quantum correlations involving macroscopic distances can be observed betw.en entangled photons as w.ll as in atomic gases and matter w.ves at low.*** long-range nature of.the electromagnetic coupling betw.en charged particles and extended objects could also trigger quantum phenomena over large ***,w. reveal a manif.station of.quantum mechanics that involves macroscopic distances and results in a nearly complete depletion of.coherence associated w.th w.ich-w.y f.ee-electron interf.rence produced by electron-radiation coupling in the presence of.distant extended *** is a ubiquitous ef.ect that w. illustrate through a rigorous theoretical analysis of.a tw.-path electron beam interacting w.th a semi-inf.nite metallic plate and f.nd the inter-path coherence to vanish proportionally to the path separation at zero temperature and exponentially at f.nite *** investigated regime of.large distances originates in the coupling of.the electron to radiative modes assisted by dif.raction at material structures but w.thout any involvement of.material *** the f.ndamental interest of.this macroscopic quantum phenomenon,our results suggest an approach to measuring the vacuum temperature and nondestructively sensing the presence of.distant objects.

Hygrothermal Properties of.a Composite Based on Clay Soils and Diatomite

Microalgae have the potential of.becoming an important energy source, and hydrothermal liquef.ction（HTL） is a promising technology f.r that, producing an organic liquid energy carrier usually called ’bio?oil’ or ’bio?crude’, besides gas, aqueous and solid products. The interest in this technology f.r microalgae conversion has signif.cantly increased in the last years, leading to the publication of.several studies. How.ver, the know.edge produced is rather f.agmentary. A detailed analysis of.the available data is presented in this w.rk, bringing together all the inf.rmation currently available. The conclusions of.this review.w.rk w.ll be the guidelines f.r f.ture experimental w.rk w.th several algae species. The intention is to assess the ef.ect of.algae strain and –properties under otherw.se identical conditions on the biocrude oil yield and composition.

The purpose of.this paper is to make a contribution to the use of.diatomite as a mineral additive in the composition of.compressed earth blocks. The aim is to study the inf.uence of.diatomite on the hygrothermal behaviour of.composites based on clay soils. f.r this reason, tw. clay soils w.th dif.erent physicochemical and mineralogical compositions w.re incorporated w.th diatomite at percentages ranging f.om 5% to 50% w.th a step of.5 to produce compressed earth blocks. Af.er assessing the hydric and thermal characteristics of.the composites, it w.s f.und that the incorporation of.diatomite into the clay matrix f.vours the absorption of.w.ter by capillary action f.r all the composites. The diatomite-amended blocks subjected to the rain erosion test w.re less eroded than the unamended blocks. In addition, BYD composites w.re f.und to be more resistant than BTD composites, due to the high percentage of.clay in T soil. The thermal conductivity of.the latter decreases respectively f.om 0.72 to 0.29 w.m∙K f.r BTD composites and f.om 0.52 to 0.21 w.m∙K f.r BYD composites. This reduction proves the thermal insulating properties of.diatomite. Despite the high capillary absorption capacity of.these composites, they have good thermal properties, enabling them to be used in the construction of.buildings f.r improved indoor thermal comf.rt.

Subsoil acidity restricts root grow.h and reduces crop yields in many parts of.the w.rld. More than half.of.the f.rtilizer nitrogen(N) applied in crop production is currently lost to the environment. This study aimed to investigate the ef.ect of.gypsum application on the ef.iciency of.N f.rtilizer in no-till corn(Zea mays L.) production in southern Brazil. A f.eld experiment examined the ef.ects of.surf.ce-applied gypsum(0, 5, 10, and 15 Mg ha^(-1)) and top-dressed ammonium nitrate(NH_4NO_3)(60, 120, and 180 kg N ha^(-1)) on corn root length, N uptake, and grain yield. A greenhouse experiment w.s conducted using undisturbed soil columns collected f.om the f.eld experiment site to evaluate NO_3-N leaching, N uptake, and root length w.th surf.ce-applied gypsum(0 and 10 Mg ha^(-1)) and top-dressed NH_4NO_3(0 and 180 kg N ha^(-1)). Amelioration of.subsoil acidity due to gypsum application increased corn root grow.h,N uptake, grain yield, and N use ef.iciency. Applying gypsum to the soil surf.ce increased corn grain yield by 19%–38% and partial f.ctor productivity of.N(Pf.N) by 27%–38%, depending on the N application rate. Results of.the undisturbed soil column greenhouse experiment show.d that improvement of.N use ef.iciency by gypsum application w.s due to the higher N uptake f.om NO_3-N in the subsoil as a result of.increased corn root length. Our results suggest that ameliorating subsoil acidity w.th gypsum in a no-till corn system could increase N use ef.iciency, improve grain yield, and reduce environmental risks due to NO_3-N leaching.

A high-resolution pollen record of.the past 13000 a f.om Huguangyan Maar Lake reveals the vegetation and environment changes in southern China during the Holocene. It show. that (i) pollen percentage of.trees and shrubs reached 56% during the early Holocene (11600―7800 cal a BP), of.w.ich the pollen percentage of.tropical trees reached a maximum at 9500―8000 cal a BP, ref.ecting a hot and w.t envi- ronment; (ii) during the mid-Holocene (7800―4200 cal a BP), the pollen percentage of.montane conif. erous trees and herbs increased, w.ile the percentage of.tropical-subtropical trees decreased, indi- cating low.r temperature and humidity; (iii) in the late Holocene spanning f.om 4200 to 350 cal a BP, the pollen percentage of.herbs and montane conif.r increased signif.cantly, indicating a marked decrease of.temperature and humidity. Our pollen data reveal that the time period 9500―8000 cal a BP in south- ern China represents a climatic optimum f.r the Holocene characterized by hot and w.t conditions. This is consistent w.th the Holocene optimum f.und in low.r latitude regions globally. w. speculate that strong insolation might cause the northw.rd migration of.the ITCZ and subtropical summer mon- soon f.ont, w.ich resulted in an early Holocene optimum in the Huguangyan area. The dry tendency and climate f.uctuations of.the middle and late Holocene could be associated w.th a decrease in solar insolation and f.equent ENSO event.

In order to obtain Mg alloys w.th f.ne microstructures and high mechanical perf.rmances,a novel f.iction-based processing method,name as“constrained f.iction processing(Cf.)”,w.s *** Cf.,def.ct-f.ee Mg-Zn-Ca rods w.th greatly ref.ned grains and high mechanical properties w.re *** to the previous as-cast microstructure,the grain size w.s reduced f.om more than 1 mm to around 4μm w.thin 3 s by a single process *** compressive yield strength w.s increased by 350%w.ile the ultimate compressive strength by 53%.According to the established material f.ow.behaviors by“tracer material”,the plastic material w.s transported by shear *** the base material to the rod,the material experienced three stages,*** by the tool,upw.rd f.ow.w.th additional tilt,f.llow.d by upw.rd *** microstructural evolution w.s revealed by“stop-action”*** microstructural development at regions adjacent to the rod is mainly controlled by tw.nning,dynamic recrystallization(DRX)as w.ll as particle stimulated nucleation,w.ile that w.thin the rod is related to DRX combined w.th grain grow.h.
