The in.ibition.performan.e of 1-hydralazin.phthalazin. (HPZ) (1), an. syn.hesized1-(2-[(5-methylfuran.2-yl)methylen.)] hydrazon.) phthalazin. (MFHPZ) (2), 1-(phthalazin.1(2H)-on.) [(pyridin.2-yl) ethyliden.] hydrazon. (ACPHPZ) (3) an. (2-acetylthiophen. hydrazon.) phthalazin. (ACTHPZ) (4) has been.in.estigated for mild steel in.1 M HCl. Compoun. 4 shows maximum in.ibition.efficien.y of 93% at 5.0 × 10-3 M con.en.ration. The evaluation.of thermodyn.mics an. activation.parameters in.icated spon.an.ous adsorption.of the in.ibitor molecules which takes place through chemisorption. The adsorption.of 3 an. 2 follows Lan.muir adsorption.isotherm an. Temkin.adsorption.isotherm for 4 an. 1. The in.ibitor efficien.y was of the order 4 > 3 > 1 > 2. Impedan.e study for the represen.ative in.ibitor compoun.s 4 an. 3 showed that decrease in.charge tran.fer resistan.e is respon.ible for effective protection.of mild steel surface by the tested in.ibitor.

A n.vel chiral n.ckel (II) complex of n.(2-pyridylmethyl)-L-alan.n. Complex 1 crystallizes in.an.orthorhombic P212121 space group. The n.ckel (II) cen.re in.the complex adopts a distorted octahedral geometry. This compoun. has been.seen.to exhibit structural diversity resultin. from the n.mber of lattice water molecules. The photolumin.scen. properties of this compoun. which have also been.in.estigated, in.icates the poten.ial application.in.lumin.scen.e.

Compoun. 1 crystallizes in.a mon.clin.c space group C2/c, with un.t cell parameters a = 18.179(3), b = 14.743(2), c = 12.278(2)&Arin.;, β = 113.821(3), V = 3010.34(90) &Arin.;3, Z = 8. The structure is characterized by a n.twork of an.on.c [Cr(C2O4)3]3- un.ts con.ected through the O atoms of the oxalates to Ba2+ an. Ag+ sites, formin. a three-dimen.ion.l coordin.tion.polymer with on.-dimen.ion.l isolated n.n.chan.els parallel to the c axis, an. en.apsulatin. hydrogen.bon.ed guest water molecules. The bulk structure is con.olidated by O–H···O bridgin.s within.the n.n.chan.els an. by coulombic in.eraction..

The reaction.of 2-ethylimidazole an. zin. formate mon.hydrate in.1:2 ratio in.toluen. leads to the formation.of bis(2-ethylimidazole)bis(formato)zin.(II)-water (1/1), [Zn.n.H8C5)2(OCHO)2]·H2O, 1 which has been.characterized by several techn.ques, in.ludin. elemen.al an. thermal an.lyses, IR, 1Hn.R an. 13Cn.R spectroscopies, sin.le crystal X-ray diffraction.an. DFT studies. The results obtain.d show that this complex crystallizes in.the orthorhombic crystal system of the Pbca space group, with cell parameters a = 14.7230(2) &Arin.;, b = 7.3880(10) &Arin.;, c = 29.0843(4) &Arin.;, α = 90°, β = 90°, γ = 90°, V = 3163.73 &Arin.;3 an. Z = 8. The zin. cen.er is boun. to two molecules of 2-ethylimidazole, two formate molecules in.a tetrahedral coordin.tion.geometry. On. water of crystallization.is presen. in.the coordin.tion.sphere of the compoun.. Its molecular crystallin. structure is stren.then.d by O/n.H…O, O-H…π, O-H…H, C-H…O, H…π, π…O an. π…π in.eraction.. The optimized structure, fron.ier molecular orbitals, global reactivity descriptors, molecular electrostatic poten.ial, n.tural bon. orbitals an. the Mulliken.atomic charges were in.estigated through theoretical studies.

Two n.vel coordin.tion.compoun.s, [Zn.L)2(OOCH)2] (1) an. [Zn.L)3(OCHO)](OCHO)]·H2O (2) (where L = 2-isopropylimidazole, C6H10n.) have been.prepared by reaction.of 2-isopropylimidazole with zin.(II) formate at room temperature usin. toluen. as solven.. These compoun.s were characterized by elemen.al an. thermal an.lyses, IR, 1Hn.R an. 13Cn.R spectroscopies, sin.le crystal X-ray diffraction.an. DFT studies. The Zn.cen.ers in.1 an. 2 adopt pseudo-tetrahedral coordin.tion.geometries. Compoun. 1 crystallizes in.the mon.clin.c system P2/c space group whereas compoun. 2 crystallizes in.the P-1 space group of the triclin.c crystal system. Several types of hydrogen.in.ra-/in.ermolecular in.eraction. are observed in.these materials an. exten. in.o a two-dimen.ion.l leaf like n.twork in.1 an. a two-dimen.ion.l lattice of rectilin.ar pillars in.2. Compoun.s 1 an. 2 were also optimized an. their fron.ier molecular orbitals, global reactivity descriptors, molecular electrostatic poten.ial, n.tural bon. orbitals were in.estigated usin. den.ity fun.tion.l theory (DFT). In.fact the in.uced structural differen.es from complex 1 to complex 2 led to the reduction.of the fron.ier molecular orbital en.rgy gap by 1.338 eV an. a decrease of the chemical hardn.ss by 0.669 eV.
