Person-years of followup and incident.cases of esophageal cancer were calculat.d by linking t.e cohort.t. deat. files and t.e Nort.ern Ireland Cancer Regist.y records. St.ndardized incidence rat.os (SIR) were calculat.d for esophageal cancers (adenocarcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), and hist.logically unspecified cancers).RESULt.: A t.t.l of 2 013 pat.ent. in t.e cohort.provided 13 559 pat.ent.years of follow-up (mean follow-up 6.7 years). None of t.e pat.ent. developed adenocarcinoma. t.ree pat.ent. developed SCC, and six developed hist.logically unspecified cancers. t.e SIR for all esophageal cancers and for SCC were 2.73 (95%CI 1.25-5.19) and 2.93 (95%CI 0.61-8.59), respect.vely. In a sensit.vit. analysis in which all unspecified esophageal cancers were t.eat.d as adenocarcinomas, t.e SIR for adenocarcinoma was 2.64 (0.97-5.75).CONCLUSION: t.e risk of adenocarcinoma is not.elevat.d in pat.ent. wit. hist.logical evidence of esophagit.s wit.out.Barret.'s esophagus; however, t.ese pat.ent. may have a moderat.ly increased risk of *** st.dies are required t. confirm t.ese findings,which suggest.t.at.Barret.'s esophagus, not.esophagit.s,is t.e key precursor lesion in t.e development.of adenocarcinoma.

In t.e High Plains, U.S., nat.ve prairie conversion t. cropland agricult.re has result.d in a loss of service delivery capabilit.es from most.depressional wet.ands as a result.of sediment.t.on. Rest.ring hist.ric hydrological condit.ons t. affect.d wet.ands may rejuvenat. some services, however, t.ere may be t.adeoffs due t. emissions of CH4 and N2O. We evaluat.d t.e influence of t.o predominant.conservat.on programs (Wet.ands Reserve Program, WRP and Conservat.on Reserve Program, CRP) on gas emissions (CO2, CH4, N2O) from 42 playas and uplands in t.e High Plains of Nebraska. Because playa rest.rat.on t.rough t.e WRP is most.prevalent.in t.e Rainwat.r Basin (RWB), we st.died 27 playas/uplands among reference condit.on, cropland, and WRP land uses. We st.died 15 playas/uplands wit.in nat.ve grassland, cropland, and CRP land uses in t.e West.rn High Plains (WHP) of Nebraska. Emissions were collect.d bi-weekly from April-Oct.ber of 2012 and 2013 from four landscape posit.ons ext.nding out.ard from t.e wet.and cent.r int. upland. In RWB playas, CH4 and N2O emissions were similar among land uses but.CO2 was 28% higher in cropland t.an WRP wet.ands. Cropland uplands emit.ed 648% more N2O t.an reference and WRP uplands. Overall, net.CO2-equiv emissions were lower in playas/uplands in WRP, suggest.ng t.at.benefit. of playa rest.rat.on may include climat. mit.gat.on services as well as increased wat.r st.rage capacit. and biodiversit. provisioning. In t.e WHP, cropland and grassland playas emit.ed 46 and 23 t.mes more CH4, respect.vely, t.an CRP in 2013. Playas in CRP emit.ed 43% less N2O t.an cropland playas. In 2013, net.emissions for cropland and nat.ve grassland playas were 75% and 39% great.r, respect.vely, t.an CRP playas. In t.e WHP, t.e benefit. of lower gas emissions must.be appropriat.ly weight.d against.t.adeoffs of ecosyst.m services relat.d t. short.r hydroperiods as a result.of reduced runoff int. playas in CRP.

1999年11月29日,北京时间12点10分39秒(04:10:39Ut.)在我国辽宁海城—岫岩地区发生了一次MS5.4地震.这次地震是继1975年2月4日海城MS7.3地震之后该地区发生的震级最大的一次地震.区域性的辽宁数字地震台网记录了这一序列的前震、主震与余震.本文运用该台网的记录资料,用双差法对海城—岫岩地震序列重新定位,得到了该序列事件之间精确的相对位置;然后以中国地震局地球物理研究所(IGCEA)与美国南卫理大学(SMU)合作的辽宁海城—岫岩地区地震试验场宽频带地震台网(BSN)记录的、经过精准定位的地震作为近震源观测的"地面实况"(groundt.ut.,Gt.事件进行校正,得到了这一地震序列的既精确又准确的震源参数.由此得出1999年海城—岫岩地震的发震构造是与1975年海城地震的发震构造海城河—大洋河断裂邻近的康家岭断裂.康家岭断裂的走向与海城河—大洋河断裂走向一致,均为WNW--ESE方向.它们都是在中国东北—华北地区近ENE--WSW向、几乎水平的压应力场作用下产生的断裂.1999年海城—岫岩地震是在海城河—大洋河断裂的影响带动下,邻近的、与其走向一致的康家岭断裂活动的结果.

Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is a neurodegenerat.ve disease charact.rized by t.e progressive loss of cognit.ve funct.ons in affect.d individuals. Brain t.ssue pat.ology is associat.d wit. t.e format.on of senile plaques which result.from t.e over-product.on of amyloid β (Aβ), due to the cleavage of a membrane bound glycoprotein. It is unclear what causes AD and its associated pathologies, but age and genetic predisposition play an import role in the likelihood of disease development. Studies have shown that the reactivation of latent herpes simplex virus 1 (HSV-1) infection can lead to the neuropathy of acute herpes simplex encephalitis (HSE), which causes similar symptoms to AD. HSV-1 infection is a known risk factor for the development of AD, but no study has determined a definitive causal relationship. Using the Qiagen Ingenuity Pathway Analysis (IPA) tool, the inhibitory relationship between therapeutics for AD and HSV-1 were explored. Thirteen drugs developed to decrease Aβ buildup in AD and 32 drugs that act as HSV antivirals were retrieved from the data in the Qiagen Knowledge Base. These drugs were analyzed displayed as two separate networks. While many promising Aβ aggregation-targeting drugs have been discontinued due to lack of efficacy, HSV drugs could serve as potential therapeutics for those with AD. This review aims to describe new insights on how HSV-1 relates to the development of AD and highlight the mechanism of action of Aβt.le="font.family:Verdana;

Genet.c risk score （GRS） based on disease risk-associat.d single nucleot.de polymorphisms （SNPs） is an informat.ve t.ol t.at.can be used t. provide inherit.d informat.on for specific diseases in addit.on t. family hist.ry, However, it.is st.ll unknown whet.er only SNPs t.at.are implicat.d in a specific racial group should be used when calculat.ng GRSs. t.e object.ve of t.is st.dy is t. compare t.e performance of race-specific GRS and nonrace-specit.c GRS for predict.ng prost.t. cancer （PCa） among 1338 pat.ent. underwent.prost.t. biopsy in Shanghai, China. A race-specific GRS was calculat.d wit. seven PCa risk-associat.d SNPs implicat.d in East.Asians （GRS7）, and a nonrace-specific GRS was calculat.d based on 76 PCa risk-associat.d SNPs implicat.d in at.least.one racial group （GRS76）. t.e means of GRS7 and GRS76 were 1.19 and 1.85, respect.vely, in t.e st.dy populat.on. Higher GRS7 and GRS76 were independent.predict.rs for PCa and high-grade PCa in univariat. and mult.variat. analyses. GRS7 had a bet.er area under t.e receiver-operat.ng curve （AUC） t.an GRS76 for discriminat.ng PCa （0.602 vs 0.573） and high-grade PCa （0.603 vs 0.575） but.did not.reach st.t.st.cal significance. GRS7 had a bet.er （up t. 13% at.different.cut.ffs） posit.ve predict.ve value （PPV） t.an GRS76. In conclusion, a race-specific GRS is more robust.and has a bet.er performance when predict.ng PCa in East.Asian men t.an a GRS calculat.d using SNPs t.at.are not.shown t. be associat.d wit. East.Asians.
