Am.ng the im.acts of clim.te change,there is the intensification of phenom.na such as the El Niño South-ern Oscillation(ENSO)responsible for El Niño and La Niñ***,understanding their effects on the functional pro-cesses of forests is ***,this study evaluated the effects of ENSO on litter stock and water holding capac-ity(WHC)in a successional forest in eastern *** occurred in periods with the m.st rainfall in El Niño(2019)and least in La Niña(2021)*** perm.nent plots were used to sam.le *** effects were evident for WHC,higher during El Niñ***,this influence was not clear for litter,as only in the rainy season effects were *** was a positive correlation of WHC with precipitation and hum.dity,while litter stocks were negatively correlated with tem.erature and wind *** the subject of this study requires long-term.assessm.nts,prelim.nary results suggests that,depending on the intensity of ENSO,forest functional processes can be strongly im.acted and *** conclusion reinforces warnings by the scientific com.unity about the im.acts of clim.te change on the m.intenance of litter stocks,decom.osition and,consequently,the biogeochem.cal cycle and essential ecosystem.services for the m.intenance of Am.zonia *** need to develop long-term.research to understand the effects of clim.tic change on litter stocks and water holding capacity is highlighted,especially in Am.zonia.

São Paulo State has witnessed CO_(2)storage-based investigations considering the availability of suitable geologic structures and proxim.ty to prim.ry CO_(2)source sinks related to bioenergy and carbon capture and storage(BECCS)*** current study presents the hydrocarbon viability evaluations and CO_(2)storage prospects,focusing on the sandstone units of the Rio Bonito *** objective is to apply petrophysical evaluations with geochem.cal inputs in predicting future hydrocarbon(gas)production to boost CO_(2)storage within the study *** study used data from.eleven wells with associated wireline logs(gam.a ray,resistivity,density,neutron,and sonic)to predict potential hydrocarbon accum.lation and fluid m.bility in the investigated *** sam.les(shale and carbonate)obtained from.depths>200 m.within the study location have shown bitum.n *** geochem.stry data of the Rio Bonito Form.tion shale beds suggest they are potential hydrocarbon source rocks and could have contributed to the gas accum.lations within the sandstone *** drilled well data,e.g.,CB-1-SP and TI-1-SP,show hydrocarbon(gas)presence based on the typical resistivity and the com.ined neutron-density responses at depths up to 3400 m.indicating the possibility of other hydrocarbon m.m.ers apart from.the heavy oil(bitum.n)observed from.the near-surface rocks *** the three-dim.nsional(3-D)m.del,the free fluid indicator(FFI)is m.re significant towards the southwest and southeast of the area with deeper depths of occurrence,indicating portions with reasonable hydrocarbon recovery rates and good prospects for CO_(2)injection,circulation and perm.nent ***,future studies based on contem.orary datasets are required to establish the hydrocarbon viability further,foster gas production events,and enhance CO_(2)storage possibilities within the region.

With the increase in antim.crobial resistance,it has becom. necessary to explore alternative approaches for com.ating and preventing ***-cinnam.ldehyde(CNm.and Benzyl4-am.no(B4Am.are bioactive com.ounds derived from.chalcones but with restricted solubility in aqueous *** can enhance the solubility of com.ounds and can be a prom.sing alternative in the developm.nt of novel antim.crobials,with reduced side effects and prolonged *** objective of this study was to evaluate the stability of oil-in-water nanoem.lsions loaded with two distinct types of chalcones at two different dosages,to propose a stable form.lation with antim.crobial *** showed that nanoem.lsions presented high encapsulation efficiency,low polydispersity index(PDI)and particle size below 200 nm.indicating that em.lsification was a suitable m.thod for nanoem.lsion *** with higher dosages exhibited significant antim.crobial effects when com.ared to free chalcones and positive ***,B4Am.nanoem.lsions at higher dosages showed expressive activity against Salm.nella m.nnesota,with a 420%greater inhibitory response com.ared to the free form.and showing equivalence to the positive *** nanoem.lsions showed excellent inhibitory activity at the highest dosage,equivalent to the positive control against *** and Staphylococcus *** greater num.er of conjugated bonds in CNm.increased the antim.crobial activity in com.arison with B4Am.and the form.tion of nanom.tric dom.ins enhanced the bioavailability,being a prom.sing alternative for antim.crobial applications.

We recently read the opinion piece titled“Why people should run after positive affective experiences instead of health benefits”,which was carried out by m.ltagliati et al.^(1)and published in the Journal of Sport and Health *** article started an im.ortant discussion about a physical activity(PA)prom.tion approach that encourages the use of affective experience to PA *** we agree with the authors’point of view and believe that its m.ssage can generate an im.ortant insight for PA prom.tion,the authors presented a scenario where behavior change seem. to be exclusively dependent on the *** the existence of other barriers to an active lifestyle(e.g.,social inequalities)could enhance the authors’suggested approach because m.ny people live in conditions that reduce their opportunities to engage in affective experiences related to PA;furtherm.re,affective experiences can vary depending on individual context.

Bats are the second-m.st diverse group of m.m.als in the world,and bat flies are their m.in ***,significant knowledge gaps rem.in regarding these antagonistic interactions,especially since diverse factors such as seasonality and host sex can affect their network ***,we explore the influence of such factors by com.aring species richness and com.osition of bat flies on host bats,as well as specialization and m.dularity of bat–bat fly interaction networks between seasons and adult host *** captured bats and collected their ectoparasitic flies at 10 sam.ling sites in the savannahs of Am.páState,northeastern region of the Brazilian *** fem.le bats being m.re parasitized and recording greater bat fly species richness in the wet season,neither relationship was statistically *** pooled network could be divided into 15 com.artm.nts with 54 links,and all subnetworks com.rised>12 *** total num.er of links ranged from.27 to 48(for the dry and wet seasons,respectively),and fem.le and m.le subnetworks had 44 and 41 links,*** values were very low for the pooled network and for all *** results revealed higher bat fly species richness and abundance in the wet season,whereas specialization and m.dularity were higher in the dry ***,the subnetwork for fem.le bats displayed higher specialization and m.dularity than the m.le ***,both seasonality and host sex contribute in different ways to bat–bat fly network *** studies should consider these factors when evaluating bat–bat fly interaction networks.

Nd^(3+)-doped tellurite glasses are prom.sing m.terials for therm.m.ters based on the fluorescence intensity ratio(FIR)***,at high Nd^(3+)concentrations,energy transfer(ET)processes such as optical reabsorption and cross-relaxation can affect the Nd^(3+)em.ssion,which has been little explored in the ***,the present work investigated the use of Nd^(3+)-doped tellurite glass(sam.les doped with Nd^(3+)at 0.2 m.l%,0.5 m.l%,2.0 m.l%,and 4.0 m.l%)in fluorescence therm.m.ters,in the tem.erature range from.299 to 371 *** results indicate a strong dependence of the FIR param.ters on the Nd^(3+)concentration,due to changes in the em.ssion band profiles caused by optical reabsorption of the Nd^(3+)em.ssions and cross-relaxation processes.A decrease of the relative sensitivity of the ratio^(4)F_(5/2)→^(4)I_(9/2)/^(4)F_(3/2)→^(4)I_(9/2)is observed for sam.les doped with higher am.unts of Nd^(3+).The m.xim.m.relative sensitivity at 299 K is 3.00%/K,which is the highest value am.ng the reported Nd^(3+)ions.
