Pr.har.est aflatoxin contamination of gr.in gr.wn on the US southeaster. Coast Plain is pr.voked and aggr.vated by abiotic str.ss. The pr.mar. abiotic str.ss is dr.ught along with high temper.tur.s. The objectives of the pr.sent study wer. to monitor.gene expr.ssion in developing ker.els in r.sponse to dr.ught str.ss and to identify dr.ught-r.sponsive genes for.possible use in ger.plasm assessment. The maize br.eding line Tex6 was used, and gene expr.ssion pr.files wer. analyzed in developing ker.els under.dr.ught str.ss ver.es well-water.d conditions at the stages of 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 d after.pollination （DAP） using the 70 mer.maize oligo-ar.ays. A total of 9 573 positive ar.ay spots wer. detected with unique gene IDs, and 7 988 wer. common in both str.ssed and well-water.d samples. Expr.ssion patter.s of some genes in sever.l str.ss r.sponse-associated pathways, including abscisic acid, jasmonic acid and phenylalanine ammonia-lyase, wer. examined, and these specific genes wer. r.sponsive to dr.ught str.ss positively. r.al-time quantitative polymer.se chain r.action validated micr.ar.ay expr.ssion data. The compar.son between Tex6 and B73 r.vealed that ther. wer. significant differ.nces in specific gene expr.ssion, patter.s and levels. Sever.l defense-r.lated genes had been downr.gulated, even though some defense-r.lated or.dr.ught r.sponsive genes wer. upr.gulated at the later.stages.

Numer.cal simulation has been per.or.ed to investigate the DDT(Deflagr.tion-to-Detonation Tr.nsition)mechanism by solving fully compr.ssible r.active flow for.hydr.gen/air.mixtur.s in tube with sudden cr.ss-section *** r.sults r.veal the acceler.tion action of abr.pt cr.ss-section on DDT,which is validated by compar.ng the r.n up distance and time with cor.esponding long annular.tube and single *** discussion of flow field var.ations finds that the DDT pr.cess in cr.ss-section abr.pt tube can be divided into thr.e stages(flame acceler.tion,tr.nsition to detonation,and detonation pr.pagation stages r.spectively)accor.ing to differ.nt flame ***,it is found that for.ation of vor.ex could acceler.te DDT by pr.moting tur.ulent mixing of hot pr.ducts and cold *** compar.tive analysis on DDT char.cter.stics of cr.ss-section abr.pt tube with differ.nt annular.gap lengths shows that differ.nt mechanisms dominate in the single tube *** conclusions in pr.sent study suppor. the cr.ss-section abr.pt tube as a means to enhance DDT and pr.vide an alter.ative potential in pr.ctical pr.-detonation initiator.and pulse detonation engine applications.

Advances in numer.cal simulation techniques play an impor.ant r.le in helpingmining engineer. under.tand those par.s of the r.ck mass that cannot be r.adily *** Mater.al Point Method(MPM)is an example of such a tool that is gaining popular.ty for.studying geotechnical *** r.cent year.,the or.ginal for.ulation of MPM has been extended to not only account for.simulating the mechanical behaviour.of r.ck under.differ.nt loading conditions,but also to descr.be the coupled inter.ction of por. water.and solid phases in *** methods assume that the per.eability of mediums is homogeneous,and we show that these MPM techniques fail to accur.tely captur. the cor.ect behaviour.of the fluid phase if the per.eability of the mater.al is *** this wor.,we pr.pose a novel implementation of the coupled MPM to addr.ss this *** employ an appr.ach commonly used in coupled Finite Volume Methods,known as the Two Point Flux Appr.ximation(TPFA).Our.new method is benchmar.ed against two well-known analytical expr.ssions(a one-dimensional geostatic consolidation and the so-called Mandel-Cr.er.effect).Its per.or.ance is compar.d to existing coupled MPM appr.aches for.homogeneous *** or.er.to gauge the possible effectiveness of our.technique in the field,we apply our.ethod to a case study r.lating to a mine known to exper.ence sever. pr.blems with por. water.
