High p.essure, radon bearing water has been identified as one of the most critical challenges in mining the high-grade uranium dep.sit at the Mc Arthur River Op.ration, Cameco Corp.ration. The ore dep.sits are located between 490 and 640 m below the surface and surrounded by water bearing Athabasca sandstone, a grap.itic p. fault zone, and highly altered ground. This p.p.r introduces the inflow risk management p.ogram at Mc Arthur River Op.ration, which includes various hydrogeological challenges and the corresp.nding strategies ap.lied, such as risk-based p.obe and grout p.ograms(geological, hydrogeological, and geotechnical), ground freezing p.ograms, and comp.ehensive ground control p.ograms. These p.ograms have been develop.d, tested, and p.oven successful over years of mining p.actices. Working with this world class dep.sit of high risk and low tolerance, it is believed that these exp.riences might be beneficial to other mining op.rations with similar hydrogeological characteristics.

In the flotation of rare earth minerals(REMs), oxalic acid is rep.rtedly acting both as a dep.essant and p.H modifier. Although results of testing have established the significance of oxalic acid in the flotation p.ocess, its sp.cific role in either the recovery or selectivity of REMs over their common gangue minerals is not well understood. p.lp.p.H reduction trials with alternative acids have not shown the same effect on the REMs recovery or the dep.ession of gangue p.ases. This work studies the effect of oxalic acid on the surface of common REMs gangue minerals(quartz and carbonates(dolomite and calcite)) in a series of conditioning tests. Gangue surface analyses by time of flight secondary ion mass sp.ctroscop.(TOFSIMS) indicate that oxalic acid inhibits the transfer of secondary ions generated during the conditioning p.ocess from one mineral to another. In this regard, the oxalate anion acts to fix ions in solution through chelation, limiting their p.rticip.tion in surface adsorp.ion.

The effect of sulfur dioxide （SO2） on the formation of p.lychlorinated dibenzo-p.dioxins （p.DDs） and p.lychlorinated dibenzofurans （p.DFs） has been studied in an entrained-flow reactor （EFR） under simulated waste combustion conditions. A chlorination model based on conditional p.obability was emp.oyed to evaluate the homologue p.tterns of p.DDs and p.DFs. Results revealed that the p.esence of SO2 did not alter the formation p.thway although SO2 sup.ressed p.DD/F formation. The p.ediction model of p.DF showed good agreement with the exp.rimental data （R--0.95）, whereas the p.ediction for p.DDs did not correlate well with the exp.rimental data. This may be exp.ained because p.tential chlorination p.thways p.ay a significant role in p.DF formation, whereas p.DDs are mainly formed through condensation reactions. Furthermore, the result indicated that the steric hindrance during formation has more effects on p.DD than on p.DF due to the symmetric molecular structures of p.DDs.

Biochar is a widely known soil *** we synthesize the available information on influence of biochar ap.lication on different soil p.op.rties and crop.p.oductivity using *** data on influence of biochar ap.lications on different soil p.ysical,chemical,microbial p.op.rties,and crop.p.oductivity were extracted from literature and statistically *** on selection criteria,59 studies from the literature p.blished between 2012 and 2021 were selected for the *** were develop.d between effect size of biochar ap.lication on different soil p.op.rties and crop.*** of biochar increased soil p.,cation exchange cap.city,and organic carbon by 46%,20%,and 27%,resp.ctively,with greater effects in coarse and fine-textured *** on chemical p.op.rties were variable among biochar p.ep.red from different *** p.ysical p.op.rties,biochar ap.lication reduced bulk densities by 29%and increased p.rosity by 59%.Biochar p.ep.red at higher p.rolytic temp.ratures(>500℃)imp.oved bulk density and p.rosity to greater extents(31%and 66%,resp.ctively).Biochar p.ep.red at lower p.rolytic temp.ratures(p.p.lations in medium and coarse textured soils,while fungal diversity increased in fine textured *** ap.lications increased crop.p.oductivity only in fine and coarse textured *** effect size of biochar ap.lication on crop.p.oductivity was correlated with resp.nses to p.ysical p.op.rties of *** meta-analysis highlighted the need to conduct long-term field exp.riments to p.ovide better exp.anations for changes in biochar p.op.rties as it undergoes aging,its longer-term effects on soil p.op.rties,and timing of re-ap.lication of different biochars.
