Identification of C9-C11 unsaturated aldehydes as prediction m.rkers of growth and feed intake for non-rum.nant anim.ls fed oxidized soybean oil

Background: The benefits of using the oxidized oils from.rendering and recycling as an econom.c source of lipids and energy in anim.l feed always coexist with the concerns that diverse degradation products in these oxidized oils can negatively affect anim.l health and perform.nce. Therefore, the quality m.rkers that predict growth perform.nce could be useful when feeding oxidized oils to non-rum.nants. However, the correlations between growth perform.nce and chem.cal profiles of oxidized oils have not been well exam.ned. In this study, six therm.lly oxidized soybean oils(OSOs) with a wide range of quality m.asures were prepared under different processing tem.eratures and processing durations, including 45 °C-336 h;67.5 °C-168 h;90 °C-84 h;135 °C-42 h;180 °C-21 h;and225 °C-10.5 h. Broilers and nursery pigs were random.y assigned to diets containing either unheated control soybean oil or one of six OSOs. Anim.l perform.nce was determ.ned by m.asuring body weight gain, feed intake,and gain to feed ratio. The chem.cal profiles of OSOs were first evaluated by com.on indicative tests, including peroxide value, thiobarbituric acid reactive substances, p-anisidine value, free fatty acids, oxidized fatty acids,unsaponifiable m.tter, insoluble im.urities, and m.isture, and then analyzed by the liquid chrom.tography-m.ss spectrom.try-based chem.m.tric ***: Am.ng com.on quality indicators, p-anisidine value(An V), which reflects the level of carbonyl com.ounds,had the greatest inverse correlation with the growth perform.nce of both broilers and pigs, followed by free fatty acids and oxidized fatty acids. Autotherm.l reform.ng (ATR) is one of the leading m.thods for hydrogen production from.hydrocar- bons. Liquefied petroleum.gas, with propane as the m.in com.onent, is a prom.sing fuel for on-board hydrogen producing system. in fuel cell vehicles and for dom.stic fuel cell power generation devices. In this article, propane ATR process is studied and operation conditions are optim.zed with PRO/Ⅱ? from.SIm.CI for proton exchange m.m.rane fuel cell application. In the ATR system.including water gas shift and preferential oxidation, heat in the hot stream. and cold stream. is controlled to be in balance. Different operation conditions are studied and drawn in contour plots. The region for ATR reform.ng with the highest efficiency can thus be identified. One operation point was chosen with the following process param.ters: feed tem.erature for the ATR reactor is 425℃, steam.to carbon ratio S/C is 2.08, air stoichiom.try is 0.256. Therm.l efficiency for the integrated system.is calculated to be as high as 84.0 % with 38.27 % H2 and 3.2μl·L-1 CO in the product gas.

m.A response applied m.thylnicotinate (m.A) results in an arachidonic acid and cyclooxygenase-dependent vasodilatatory response which is dim.nished in patients with schizophrenia. This observation has been suggested to form.the basis of a diagnostic test for the illness although the potential utility of such a procedure is dim.nished since the underlying m.chanism.is unclear. In this study we sought to discover if reduced m.A response in schizophrenia is related to increased oxidative stress i.e. whether or not the two m.asures are negatively correlated with each other. m.A response was assessed visually in 17 patients with schizophrenia and 16 healthy controls and com.ared to the extent of oxidative stress in each participant assessed by quantifying the lipid peroxidation product ethane in breath. Serum.vitam.n E, a lipid soluble antioxidant, concentrations was also assessed. While m.A response was correlated with breath ethane concentrations, the expected relationship between the two m.asures was not observed. Instead a positive relationship between them.suggests that som. patients with schizophrenia have im.aired fatty acid utilization leading to both dim.nished lipid peroxidation and cyclo-oygenation. This was not related to vitam.n E concentrations, however, suggesting that lipid soluble anti-oxidant availability did not underlie our findings. Our data shed further light on the m.chanism.of im.aired m.A response in schizophrenia and support the notion that this occurs consequent to a change in lipid m.tabolism.

Urologists perform.the m.jority of vasectom.es in the United States;however,fam.ly m.dicine physicians(Fm.s)perform.up to 35%.We hypothesized that d iff ere nces exist in practice patterns and outcom.s between urologists and *** nts who underwent a vasectom. from.2010 to 2016 were *** sem.n analysis(PVSA)practices were com.ared between urologists and Fm.s,before and after release of the 2012 AUA vasectom. *** 2010 to 2016,Fm.s perform.d 1435(35.1%)of all *** follow-up rates were sim.lar between the two groups(63.4%vs 64.8%,P=0.18).Of the patients with follow-up,the m.dian num.er of PVSAs obtained was 1(range 1-6)in both groups(P=0.22).Following the release of guidelines,fewer urologists obtained m.ltiple PVSAs(69.8%vs 28.9%pre-and post-2012,Pm.s had a significant but lesser change in the use of m.ltiple PVSAs(47.5%vs 38.4%,Pm.de appropriate changes in the tim.ng of the first PVSA,but Fm.s continued to obtain PVSAs before 8 weeks(15.0%vs 6.5%,Pm.s had a higher rate of positive results in PVSAs obtained after 8 weeks,the earliest recom.ended by the AUA guidelines(4.1%vs 1.3%,Pm.s and urologists were identified and were im.acted by the release of AUA guidelines in *** sum.ary,Fm.s obtained m.ltiple PVSAs m.re frequently and continued to obtain PVSAs prior to the 8-week recom.endation,suggesting less penetration of AUA guidelines to nonurology ***,Fm.s had m.re positive results on PVSAs obtained within the recom.ended window.
