This descriptive study aimed to determine the level of acceptability of the Instructional Guide in Physical Education 2(Advanced swimming skills and Life-saving Techniques).The respondents of the study were the content experts currently teaching PE(Physical Education)in other universities in Iloilo and Bacolod City,Philippines together with the BsMT(Bachelor of science Marine Transportation)students who used the instructional guide throughout the duration of the *** instrument used to evaluate the materials was adopted from Terunez(2008)and included seven evaluation criteria to include physical aspect,language,content,objectives,instructions,learning activities,and evaluation *** statistical tools employed were mean,standard deviation,and *** results of the study revealed that the level of acceptability of the instructional guide in physical aspect was“High”which means that the material was suited to the level of the intended *** significant difference was noted in the evaluation result of the content experts and student *** can be concluded that the development of Instructional Guide in Physical Education 2 is deemed to be highly beneficial in enhancing *** is recommended that this instructional material will be utilized by other maritime institutions offering courses in Advanced swimming and Life-saving Techniques.

Few studies have been conducted on success stories of JBLFMU-Arevalo alumni. Thus, this study aimed to determine the success story of Capt. Angelex Arevalo Panes, an alumnus of the then, John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation （Arevalo）, Inc. of Batch 1995 now, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University-Arevalo. The story of Capt. Panes tells his family and educational background, career paths, driving force to work efficiently, hardwork, coping strategies, job encounters, edged as first Filipino captain of M/V sKs Tiete, skills as effective team leader, managerial techniques in resolving conflicts under watch, problems and solutions encountered on board, preparations for his sunset life, and his message to all aspiring seafarers. This paper gives glimpse to the life of Philippine＇s modem hero-a seafarer like Capt. Angelex A. Panes and lessons to those who would become seafarers.

This study delved on the ballast water management methods among international vessels docking at Loboc Port, Iloilo City, Philippines and other factors that are considered during ballast operation. The respondents of this study were the seafarers from the 15 international vessels docking at Loboc Port. The findings of the study revealed that the international vessels docking at Loboc Port used the sequential method, flow-through method, chlorination method, hydrogen peroxide, UV （ultraviolet） irradiation and filtration method in ballasting. In order to prevent transfer of alien invasive species, government authorities such as MARINA （Maritime Industry Authority） and Philippine Coast Guard should strictly monitor and implement the ballast water management methods used by international vessels based on the guidelines set by the IMO （International Maritime Organization）.
