Abundances of important and imperiled fishes of the Snake River Basin continue to *** assessed the rationale for breaching the four lower Snake River Basin dams to prevent complete loss of these fishes,and to maximize their likelihood of *** summarize the science surrounding Sockeye Salmon(Oncorhynchus nerka),chinook Salmon(***),steelhead(***),Bull Trout(Salvelinus confluentus),White Sturgeon(Acipenser transmontanus),and Pacific Lamprey(Entosphenus tridentatus).From this,we drew ten conclusions:(1)development of the columbia River System(including the Snake River Basin)has converted mainstem rivers into reservoirs,altering fish behavior and survival;(2)most populations currently record their lowest abundance;(3)the columbia River System dams reduce productivity of diadromous fishes in the highest-quality spawning grounds that could buffer against future climate dynamics;(4)past actions have done little to reduce impacts or precipitate recovery;(5)the columbia River System constrains survival and productivity of salmon,steelhead and Bull Trout;(6)Snake River Basin salmon and steelhead remain at high extinction risk;(7)eliminating migration impediments and improving mainstem habitats are essential for maintaining genetic diversity and improving Bull Trout persistence;(8)the lower Snake River Basin dams preclude passage of adult White Sturgeon,constraining gene flow and recruitment;(9)the lower Snake River Basin dams impede dramatically passage of adult and juvenile Pacific Lamprey,and(10)Snake River Basin Pacific Lamprey is at high risk of *** the four lower Snake River Basin dams is an action likely to prevent extirpation and extinction of these *** from the columbia River System can inform conservation in other impounded rivers.

Background:Historically sinonasal malignancies were always addressed via open craniofacial surgery for an oncologic *** esthesioneuroblastomas are excised using an exclusively endoscopic approach,however,the rarity of this disease limits the availability of long-term and large scale outcomes ***:The primary objective is to evaluate the treatment modalities used and the overall survival of patients with esthesioneuroblastoma managed with exclusively endoscopic ***:In accordance with PRISMA guidelines,PubMed was queried to identify studies describing outcomes associated with endoscopic management of ***:Forty-four out of 2462 articles met inclusion criteria,totaling 399 patients with esthesioneuroblastoma treated with an exclusively endoscopic ***-two patients(18.0%)received adjuvant chemotherapy and 331 patients(83.0%)received postoperative radiation *** average age was 50.6 years old(range 6-83).Of the 399 patients,57(16.6%)were Kadish stage A,121(35.2%)were Kadish stage B,145(42.2%)were Kadish stage c,and 21(6.1%)were Kadish stage *** analysis demonstrated that 66.0%of patients had Hyams histologic GradeⅠorⅡ,while 34.0%of patients had GradeⅢorⅣ*** surgical margins were achieved in 86.9%of patients,and recurrence was identified in 10.3%of *** those with 5-year follow-up,reported overall survival was 91.1%.conclusion:Exclusively endoscopic surgery for esthesioneuroblastoma is performed for a wide range of disease stages and grades,and the majority of these patients are also treated with adjuvant chemotherapy or radiation *** overall recurrence rate is 10.3%and 5-year survival is 91.1%.

Unraveling the role of Ti3c2 MXene underlayer for enhanced photoelectrochemical water oxidation of hematite photoanodes

Hematite is regarded as a promising photoanode for photoelectrochemical(PEc) water ***,the charge recombination occurred at the interface of FTO/hematite strictly limits the PEc performance of ***,we reported a Ti3c2 MXene underlayer modified hematite(Ti-Fe2O3) photoanode via a simple drop-casting followed by hydrothermal and annealing *** to the bifunctional role of Ti3c2 MXene underlayer in improving the interfacial properties of FTO/hematite and providing Ti source for the construction of Fe2 TiO5/Fe2O3 heterostructure in hematite nanostructure,the bulk and interfacial charge transfer dynamics of hematite are significantly enhanced,and consequently enhancing the PEc *** with the pristine hematite,the as-prepared Ti-Fe2O3 photoanode shows an increased photocurrent density from 0.80 mA/cm^(2) to 1.30 mA/cm^(2) at 1.23 V ***,a further promoted PEc performance including a dramatically increased photocurrent density of 2.49 mA/cm^(2) at1.23 V *** and an obviously lowered onset potential is achieved for the Ti-Fe2O3 sample after the subsequent surface F-treatment and the loading of FeNiOOH *** results suggest that the introduction of Ti3c2 MXene underlayer is a facile but effective approach to improve the PEc water splitting activity of hematite.

Tillage, crop Rotation, and cultural Practice Effects on Dryland Soil carbon Fractions

Information is needed on novel management practices to increase dryland c sequestration and soil quality in the northern Great Plains, USA. We evaluated the effects of tillage, crop rotation, and cultural practice on dryland crop biomass (stems and leaves) yield, surface residue, and soil c fractions at the 0-20 cm depth from 2004 to 2008 in a Williams loam in eastern Montana, USA. Treatments were two tillage (no-tillage [NT] and conventional tillage [cT]), two crop rotations (continuous spring wheat [Triticum aestivum L.] [cW] and spring wheat-barley [Hordeum vulgaris L.] hay-corn [Zea mays L.]-pea [Pisum sativum L.] [W-B-c-P]), and two cultural practices (regular [conventional seed rates and plant spacing, conventional planting date, broadcast N fertilization, and reduced stubble height] and ecological [variable seed rates and plant spacing, delayed planting, banded N fertilization, and increased stubble height]). carbon fractions were soil organic c (SOc), particulate organic c (POc), microbial biomass c (MBc), and potential c mineralization (PcM). crop biomass was 24% to 39% greater in W-B-c-P than in cW in 2004 and 2005. Surface residue c was 36% greater in NT than in cT in the regular practice. At 5 - 20 cm, SOc was 14% greater in NT with W-B-c-P and the regular practice than in cT with cW and the ecological practice. In 2007, POc and PcM at 0 - 20 cm were 23 to 54% greater in NT with cW or the regular practice than in cT with cW or the ecological practice. Similarly, MBc at 10 - 20 cm was 70% greater with the regular than with the ecological practice in NT with cW. Surface residue, PcM, and MBc declined from autumn 2007 to spring 2008. No-tillage with the regular cultural practice increased surface residue and soil c storage and microbial biomass and activity compared to conventional tillage with the ecological practice. Mineralization reduced surface residue and soil labile c fractions from autumn to spring.
