Zirconium hydroxide synthesized by sol-gel was impregnated with an aqueous solution of ammonium heptamolybdate in order to obtain 15 wt% of moO3 on ZrO2. Pure and modified hydroxides were calcined at 400, 500, and 600 oC. In order to evaluate the catalytic activity for n-hexane isomerization, the materials were impregnated with 0.5 wt% of platinum and treated at 400 oC. For pure ZrO2 it was observed that the surface area decreases from 144 to 18 m2/g when the calcination temperature increases from 400 to 600 oC. The addition of mo to zirconia increases the specific surface area (238-130 m2/g) in samples treated at the same temperatures. Pure zirconia transformed from tetragonal to monoclinic phase when calcined between 400 and 600 °C. However, this transformation did not occur in the ZrO2-moO3 supports. The n-butylamine results showed that all the ZrO2-moO3 supports presented a higher acidity (> 255 mV) than that corresponding to pure ZrO2 (- 48 mV), which presented only weakly acidic sites. Pt/ZrO2-moO3 calcined at 600 oC proved to be the best catalyst for n-hexane isomerization, presenting a high selectivity to isomerization products (82%) at high conversion (72%).

BACKGROUND Aprotinin has recently been associated with adverse outcomes in patients undergoing cardiac *** reviewed our experience with this agent in patients undergoing cardiac surgery at Duke University medical Center. mETHODS We retrieved data on 10,275 consecutive patients undergoing surgical coronary revascularization at Duke between January 1,1996,and December 31,*** fit data to a logistic-regression model predicting each patient’s likelihood of receiving aprotinin on the basis of preoperative characteristics and to models predicting long-term survival(up to 10 years) and decline in renal function,as measured by increases in serum creatinine levels. RESULTS A total of 1343 patients(13.2%) received aprotinin,6776 patients(66.8%) received aminocaproic acid,and 2029 patients(20.0%) received no antifibrinolytic therapy. All patients underwent coronary-artery bypass grafting,and 1181 patients(11.5%) underwent combined coronary-artery bypass grafting and valve *** the risk-adjusted model,survival was worse among patients treated with aprotinin,with a main-effects hazard ratio for death of 1.32(95%confidence interval[CI],1.12 to 1.55) for the comparison with patients receiving no antifibrinolytic therapy(P=0.003) and 1.27(95%CI,1.10 to 1.46) for the comparison with patients receiving aminocaproic acid(P=0.004).As compared with the use of aminocaproic acid or no antifibrinolytic agent,aprotinin use was also associated with a larger risk-adjusted increase in the serum creatinine level(Pmortality rate and larger increases in serum creatinine levels than those who received aminocaproic acid or no antifibrinolytic agent.

[背景]对成人的研究已表明,空气污染暴露与血压升高有关。[目的]研究产前暴露于空气污染物与新生儿收缩压(SBP)之间的关联。[方法]研究马萨诸塞州波士顿市地区出生前队列中的1 131对母婴,计算各妊娠期以及产前2~90 d在固定监测点测量的时间分辨的细颗粒物(≤2.5μm;Pm2.5)、炭黑(BC)、一氧化氮(氮氧化合物)、二氧化氮(NO2)、臭氧(O3)和一氧化碳(CO)的平均暴露水平,并估计居住点水平上时空分辨的Pm2.5和BC暴露。用自动仪器测量平均年龄为(30±18)h新生儿的收缩压,并使用混合效应模型检验空气污染物暴露与SBP之间的关联,分析中考虑了测量环境、孩子的出生体重、母亲的年龄、种族/族裔、社会经济地位、妊娠后期BP以及时间趋势。估计值表示为每一种污染物每增加一个四分位数间距(IQR)所致的SBP差异。[结果]在妊娠后期,较高的平均Pm2.5和BC暴露与较高的SBP有关联[例如,居住地90 d BC平均值增加0.32μg/m3与SBP升高1.0(95%CI:0.1~1.8)mm Hg有关联]。相比之下,O3与SBP呈负相关[例如,产前90 d O3升高13.5×10-9与SBP降低2.3(95%CI:-4.4^-0.2)mm Hg有关联]。[结论]妊娠后期暴露于Pm2.5和BC与新生儿SBP呈正相关,而O3与SBP呈负相关。纵向随访能够评估这些研究结果对这些新生儿随之的童年期和成年期的健康影响。

Objective. - To assess age differences associated with depressive symptoms and functional disability in children and adolescents with recurrent headache. Background. - Research has indicated that psychological factors, especially depression, are related to the extent and nature of functional disability experienced from headaches. There is a lack of research examining how age impacts the relationship between pain, psychological factors, and activity restriction in children and adolescents with recurrent headache. methods. - Seventy- seven participants from a pediatric neurology clinic completed self- report measures of pain intensity, depressive symptoms, and functional disability. Results. - Findings demonstrated a significant positive correlation between pain and functional disability, and depressive symptoms and functional disability for children. Correlations for adolescents failed to reach significance. Functional disability emerged as a mediator between headache pain and depressive symptoms for children but not for adolescents. Conclusions. - Results indicate potentially important age differences when examining the impact of functional disability on depressive symptoms in this sample. Findings suggest that functional disability may contribute to depressive symptoms differently for children versus adolescents with recurrent headache. Age- specific interventions that differentially focus on the specific roles that pain, depressive symptoms, and disability have for children and adolescents with recurrent headache may be warranted.

A biocarbon after activation process showed the removal percentage of 92% of methylene blue in solution, the equilibrium parameter—RL value was in the interval from 0 to 1, with 46% of surface coverage degree. The Freundlich constant (n) was higher than 1 as an indication of the physical adsorption process. The Radlich-peterson calculations obtained the higher R2 value which g constant near 1, a high similarity with Langmuir model. Temkin constant B1 was a positive indication of endothermic process. All calculations provided favorable results for the use of activated biocarbon for dye removing and possible for other organic substances.
