Historical Case Report: 45 Years of the First Plastic Surgery in Morbid Obese in Brazil and Their Weight Loss

Before the 70s, in Brazil, each city had its morbidly obese, considered as the “excessive fats”, in very small numbers if we compare it with the current percentage. There was no classification of the degree of obesity by the body mass index (BMI) as we have today. By chance, on a Saturday in June 1975, at the Outpatient Clinic of the 23rd Infirmary of Santa Casa da Misericórdia Hospital in Rio de Janeiro, arrived the patient I. S., 41 years old, 1.70 m tall, supported by her two children, weighing 210 kg in weight body. Knowing that bariatric surgery only appeared in the 1980s, before that, patients with morbid obesity were left to their own devices, with hypertension and diabetes. The patient I. S. was hospitalized for 3 years in our Plastic Surgery Service, having received nutritional monitoring, had sporadic discharges and undergone 9 reparative plastic surgeries. She was discharged weighing 71 kg, with self-esteem recovered and happy to start a new life, without hypertension and diabetes.

Hematological parameters can provide key information to an animal health ***,this information is usually hard to ***,we described the hematological parameters of Leptodactylus podicipinus in the Brazilian *** measured red blood cell morphometrics,erythrogram,and *** also tested for phylogenetic signal in the erythrogram and leukogram of 48 frog species from 15 families,testing if body size explains their *** were the most abundant leukocytes(>60%)in ***,followed by neutrophils(∼10%).Given that *** is an abundant and widely distributed species in central Brazil,knowing its hematological pattern can help establish a baseline and improve its use as a bioindicator of environmental *** corpuscular hemoglobin and value contributed more to the phylomorphospace of erythrogram,in which Leptodactylus *** Hypsiboas raniceps had lower values of these variables,whereas Bufotes viridis and Hyla arborea had high *** phylogenetic signal was spread throughout the dimensions of the leukogram *** variables that most contributed to it were total leukocytes counts,lymphocytes,and *** also found a moderate phylogenetic signal for both the erythrogram and ***,body size accounted for a low proportion of variation in both the leukogram(4.7%)and erythrogram(0.57%).By applying phylogenetic comparative methods to hematological parameters,our results add a new perspective on the evolution of blood cell physiology in frogs.

Study of the Addition Effect of Glycerin Originated from Biodiesel Production at Compressive Strengh of Concrete

The residues generated by big industries are directly and gradually impacting the environment,and some of these have not been fully tapped in a proper ***,some researches and studies about minimalizing the residue’s disposal become *** biodiesel industries have been producing increasingly glycerin as the main *** on that,it is considered as a good option of the reutilization of this material,for example,the merging at the concrete’s *** this argument,the addition’s effects of glycerin were evaluated as well as the influence of its adding at the compressive *** proof-bodies were formulated according to the trace in proportion of 1:1:2(cement,sand and gravel,respectively)and 0.4 L of glycerin added at the final *** the bases of the survey results,it was verified that the proof-bodies without the addition of glycerin presented average mechanical resistance of 12.2±1.95 MPa after twenty eight(28)days of curing,and mechanical resistance of the proof-bodies with the addition achieved resistance of 26.2±1.62 MPa,suggesting influence on the hydration kinetics of the concrete.
