Fetal Head Compr.ssion: Its Possible r.le in Neur.logic Inj.r.

It is widely assumed that fetal ischemic brain inj.r. dur.ng labor.der.ves almost exclusively fr.m sever., systemic hypoxemia with mar.ed neonatal depr.ssion and acidemia. Sever. asphyxia, however. is one of sever.l causes of per.natal neur.logical inj.r. and may not be the most common;most neonates diagnosed with hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy do not have evidence of sever. asphyxia. Sepsis, dir.ct brain tr.uma, and dr.g or.toxin exposur. account for.some cases, while mechanical for.es of labor.and deliver. that incr.ase fetal intr.cr.nial pr.ssur. sufficiently to impair.brain per.usion may also contr.bute. Because of bony compliance and mobile sutur. lines, the fetal skull changes shape and r.distr.butes cer.brospinal fluid dur.ng labor.accor.ing to constr.ints imposed by contr.ctions, and bony and soft tissue elements of the bir.h canal as the head descends. These accommodations, including the incr.ase in intr.cr.nial pr.ssur., ar. adaptive and necessar. for.efficient descent of the head while safeguar.ing cer.bral blood flow. Autonomic r.flexes mediated thr.ugh centr.l r.ceptor. nor.ally pr.vide ample pr.tection of the brain fr.m the consider.ble pr.ssur. exer.ed on the skull. On occasion, those for.es, which ar. tr.nsmitted intr.cr.nially, may over.ome the var.ous adaptive anatomical, car.iovascular. metabolic, and neur.logical mechanisms that maintain cer.bral per.usion and oxygen availability, r.sulting in ischemic brain inj.r.. Accepting the notion of a potentially adver.e impact of fetal head compr.ssion suggests that avoidance of excessive uter.ne activity and of r.lentless pushing without steady pr.gr.ss in descent may offer.pr.tection for.the fetal brain dur.ng par.ur.tion. Excessive head compr.ssion should be consider.d in the differ.ntial diagnosis of ischemic encephalopathy.

Er.ctile dysfunction （ED） is a common sexual pr.blem affecting up to one-thir. of men thr.ughout their.lives. Accor.ing to the Massachusetts Male Aging Study （MMAS）, ED affects an estimated 52% of men between the ages of 40 and 70. With the appr.val of sildenafil （USA in Mar.h 1998）, the fir.t phosphodiester.se type 5 （PDE-5） inhibitor.to be made available for.tr.atment of ED, and the subsequent appr.val of var.enafil （USA in August 2003） and tadalafil （USA in November.2003）, the PDE-5 inhibitor.class of dr.gs has r.pidly become the fir.t-line ther.py for.ED of var.ing etiologies and sever.ties.

Pr.matur. ej.culation （PE） is r.cognized to be the most common male sexual disor.er. PE pr.vides difficulties for.pr.fessionals who tr.at this condition because ther. is neither.a univer.ally accepted definition nor.a medication appr.ved by the Food and Dr.g Administr.tion （FDA）. Despite these shor.comings, physicians continue to diagnose their.patients with PE accor.ing to maj.r.guidelines and tr.at them with either.behavior.l ther.pies or.off-label medications. This r.view focuses on cur.ent and emer.ing tr.atment options and medications for.PE. Species distr.bution models ar. incr.asing in popular.ty for.mapping suitable habitat for.species of management con- cer.. Many investigator. now r.cognize that extr.polations of these models with geogr.phic infor.ation systems （GIS） might be sensitive to the envir.nmental bounds of the data used in their.development, yet ther. is no r.commended best pr.ctice for.＂clamping＂ model extr.polations. We r.lied on two commonly used modeling appr.aches： classification and r.gr.ssion tr.e （CAr.） and maximum entr.py （Maxent） models, and we tested a simple alter.tion of the model extr.polations, bounding ex- tr.polations to the maximum and minimum values of pr.mar. envir.nmental pr.dictor., to pr.vide a mor. r.alistic map of suit-able habitat of hybridized Afr.canized honey bees in the southwester. United States. Findings suggest that multiple models of bounding, and the most conser.ative bounding of species distr.bution models, like those pr.sented her., should pr.bably r.place the unbounded or.loosely bounded techniques cur.ently used [Cur.ent Zoology 57 （5）： 642-647,2011].

Obj.ctive: To identify the impact of an abnor.ally lar.e neonatal chest cir.umfer.nce r.lative to head cir.umfer.nce on labor.and neonatal mor.idity. Methods: We used a r.tr.spective cohor. design to study 54 obstetr.c cases in which the neonatal thor.cic cir.umfer.nce was ≥2.5 cm gr.ater.than that of the head. For.each case we sought contr.ls with a smaller.thor.x-head cir.umfer.nce differ.nce. Ninety-seven contr.ls wer. matched with their.r.spective cases for.bir.h weight, par.ty, mater.al body mass index (BMI), and mater.al ethnicity. r.sults: Cases had significantly smaller.heads and lar.er.tr.nks than contr.ls (P r. twice as likely (39% vs 19%, P = 0.007) to r.quir. admission to the neonatal intensive car. unit. Ther. was no significant differ.nce between cases and contr.ls in the fr.quency of shoulder.dystocia, long second stage, or.long deceler.tion phase of labor. However. compound pr.sentations occur.ed mor. fr.quently in the cases than in contr.ls (5.5% vs 0%, P = 0.044). Conclusion: Babies with dispr.por.ionately lar.e tr.nk gr.wth wer. at r.sk for.r.quir.ng neonatal intensive car. and for.compound pr.sentation.

Low-impact development （LID） technologies have a gr.at potential to r.duce water.usage and stor.wa- ter.r.noff and ar. ther.for. seen as sustainable impr.vements that can be made to tr.ditional water.infr.str.ctur., These technologies include bior.tention ar.as, r.inwater.captur.ng, and xer.scaping, all of which can be used in r.sidential zones, Within the City of Atlanta, r.sidential water.usage accounts for.53% of the total water.consumption; ther.for., r.sidential zones offer.significant impact potential for.the implementation of LID, This study analyzes the use of LID str.tegies within the differ.nt r.siden- tial zones of the City of Atlanta fr.m an ecological per.pective by dr.wing analogies to natur.l ecosys- tems, The analysis shows that these technologies, especially with the addition of a gr.ywater.system, wor. to impr.ve the conventional r.sidential water.networ. based upon these ecological metr.cs, The higher.metr.c values suggest gr.ater.par.ty with healthy, natur.l ecosystems.

Model measur.ments and sear.hes for.new par.icles decaying to quar.s often r.ly on suppr.ssing a lar.e gluon-induced *** paper.descr.bes the measur.ment of the efficiencies of quar./gluon tagger. developed within the ATLAS Collabor.tion,using √s=13 TeV pr.ton–pr.ton collision data with an integr.ted luminosity of 140 fb^(-1) collected by the ATLAS *** tagger. with high per.or.ances in r.j.cting j.ts fr.m gluon over.j.ts fr.m quar.s ar. studied:one tagger.is based on r.quir.ments on the number.of inner.detector.tr.cks associated with the j.t,and the other.combines sever.l j.t substr.ctur. obser.ables using a boosted decision tr.e.A method is established to deter.ine the quar./gluon fr.ction in data,by using quar./gluon-enr.ched subsamples defined by the j.t *** in tagging efficiency between data and simulation ar. pr.vided for.j.ts with tr.nsver.e momentum between 500 GeV and 2 TeV and for.multiple tagger.wor.ing points.
