Use of Spatial Analysis to Assess Geographic Accessibility of Community Pharmacies in São Mateus

Pharmaceutical services contribute to the rational use of medicines by ensuring the provision of appropriate, safe and effective pharmacotherapies. Thus, it is important to investigate whether the geographical distribution of pharmacies causes inequalities in access in countries like brazil, where there is no federal law regulating the opening of new establishments (in contrast to many European countries). This study analyzed the accessibility of community pharmacies in the city of Sao Mateus, Espírito Santo, brazil. The authors obtained the geographical coordinates of pharmacies and healthfacilities, which scanned and georeferenced the study area. The 40 pharmacies included in the spatial analysis presented a heterogeneous distribution, with the existence of neighborhoods with an accumulation of pharmacies and others with no pharmacies. The authors found that only 43.7% of the study area received pharmaceutical service coverage, when buffer zones of 350 meters are incorporated, and that most of the districts have a minimum distance of 100 meters between health facilities and pharmacies. It was concluded that the use of GIS proved to be very suitable for analysis of pharmaceutical services, enabling knowledge of the local situation and serving as a stimulus for future studies.

The broke of a tailings dam from Vale S.A. destroyed a gigantic area killing 270 persons in brumadinho/brazil. Organizing activities after a mass disaster is a complex process that requires the involvement of many people and resources in the laboratory. To DNA identification of the victims, a daunting work had to be made by DNA laboratory staff in a collaborative effort with many partners. Efforts to implement good practice guidelines in Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) have revealed several important aspects that need to change in the forensic DNA laboratory. This article highlights the challenges of implementing DVI best practice guidelines in resource-poor settings, but with professionals from different sectors engaged in the same goal of briefly identifying victims and helping families and society.

The aim of this study was to discriminate organic from conventional orange juice based on chemical elements and data mining applications.A comprehensive sampling of organic and conventional oranges was carried out in Borborema,state of Sao Paulo,*** fruits of the variety Valencia(Citrus sinensis(L.)Osbeck)budded on Rangpur lime(Citrus limonia Osbeck)were *** chemical elements were determined in 57 orange samples grown in organic and conventional *** order to classify these samples,data mining techniques(Support Vector Machine(SVM)and Multilayer Perceptron(MLP))were combined with feature selection(F-score and chi-squared).SVM with chi-squared had a better performance compared with the other techniques because it reached 93.00% accuracy using only seven chemical components(Cu,Cs,Zn,Al,Mn,Rb and Sr),and correctly classified 96.73% of the samples grown in an organic system.

In this review,the state of the art in understanding the structural phase relations in perovskite-structured BiFeO_(3)-based polycrystalline solid solutions is presented and *** about the close relation between the structural phase and overall physical properties of the reviewed systems are pointed out and *** is shown that,by adjusting the structural symmetric arrangement,the ferroelectric and magnetic properties of BiFeO_(3)-based polycrystalline solid solutions can be tuned to find specific multifunctional ***,an intrinsic mechanism linking structural arrangement and physical properties cannot be identified,revealing that this subject still deserves further discussion and investigation.

Web-based system for training and dissemination of a magnification chromoendoscopy classification

AIM： To evaluate the use of web-based technologies to assess the learning curve and reassess reproducibility of a simplified version of a classification for gastric magnification chromoendoscopy （MC）. METHODS： As part of a multicenter trial, a hybrid approach was taken using a CD-ROM, with 20 films of MC lasting 5 s each and an ＂autorun＂ file triggering a local HTML frameset referenced to a remote questionnaire through an Internet connection. Three endoscopists were asked to prospectively and independently classify 10 of these films randomly selected with at least 3 d apart. The answers were centrally stored and returned to participants together with adequate feedback with the right answer. RESULTS： For classification in 3 groups, both intra- [Cohen＇s kappa （K） = 0.79-1.00 to 0.89-1.00] and inter-observer agreement increased from 1st （moderate） to 6th observation （k = 0.94）. Also, agreement with reference increased in the last observations （0.90, 1.00 and 1.00, for observers A, B and C, respectively）. Validity of 100% was obtained by all observers at their 4th observation. When a 4th （sub）group was considered, inter-observer agreement was almost perfect （K = 0.92） at 6th observation. The relation with reference clearly improved into K （0.93-1.00） and sensitivity （75%-100%） at their 6th observations. CONCLUSION： This MC classification seems to be easily explainable and learnable as shown by excellent intra- and inter-observer agreement, and improved agreement with reference. A web system such as the one used in this study may be useful for endoscopic or other image based diagnostic procedures with respect to definition, education and dissemination.

In the Amazon region,several residues that have been misused can serve as feedstocks for biochar production with the aim of recovering soils contaminated by heavy ***,these biochars need to be firstly tested for their adsorption capacity as well as their physicochemical attributes prior to field ***,this study aimed to characterize and evaluate the adsorption capacities of Cd^(2+) and Cu^(2+) of biochars produced from acai(BA),brazil nut(BN),and palm kernel cake(BK)*** were produced by slow pyrolysis at four different temperatures(400,500,600,and 700℃).The physicochemical properties of the biochars,such as cation exchange capacity,ash,recalcitrance index,and aromaticity were enhanced with increased pyrolysis *** adsorption capacities of Cd^(2+) and Cu^(2+) showed high correlations with the physicochemical properties of biochar,indicating the importance of these characteristics in the adsorption ***,the adsorption of Cd^(2+) and Cu^(2+) also increased with the increase in the pyrolysis *** a competitive system,Cd^(2+)exhibited higher adsorption capacity than Cu^(2+) for all *** general,BN showed the highest adsorption capacity,followed by BK and *** produced from the Amazonian residues have the potential to improve soil quality when used as amendments in the recovery of soils contaminated with Cd and Cu,representing an environmentally sound technology for the reuse of these residues.

Characterization of Bovine and Ovine WPC Obtained by Different Membrane Configuration Processes

The objective of this stud）, was to valorize bovine and ovine cheese whey resulting from small and medium cheese manufacture plants, by producing liquid and dr）＂ whey protein concentrates （LWPC and WPC）. The flexibility implemented by batch ultrafiltration （UF） and diafiltration （DF） allowed for the production and ovine WPC with 61 -87% （dry basis）. Diatiltration, performed in of liquid bovine WPC with 43-66% protein contents （dry basis） sequential dilution mode （DFsdm） did not improve significantly the composition of WPC liquid products comparing to the results achieved by conventional UF. However, using DF in volume reduction mode （DFvrm） protein content was increased more than 20% comparing to conventional UF. Ovine products showed higher protein levels （62-84% dry basis） what makes their manufacture attractive. Protein profiles varied with the whey origin and with the concentration process. Using batch DFvrm was possible to obtain richer protein products free of low MW compounds.

Nursing Diagnostics of Nutrition Domain of NANDA International in Hemodialysis Patients

Introduction: The dialysis causes the loss of the nutrients and the elevation of catabolism, thus, patients in dialysis have at high risk for the loss of body reserves of protein and energy. Objective: To identify nursing diagnoses of nutrition domain of NANDA International in hemodialysis patients and to correlate them to the socioeconomic and clinical data. Design: Cross-sectional study. Setting: Performed in a large university hospital in northeastern brazil. Participants: The first stage was carried out with 50 patients, selected with the following inclusion criteria: Being hospitalized and undergoing hemodialysis in that hospital;aged 18 years old or over;being conscious and oriented. Exclusion criteria were patients undergoing hemodialysis in that hospital with external service, pregnant women and patients being treated by plasmapheresis. In the second stage, participants were three nursing specialists in nephrology and nursing diagnoses. Methods: The defining characteristics of the nursing diagnoses inserted in the nutrition domain were observed in patients and then these data were judged by nurses, in order to identify diagnoses present in each patient. The Chi-square, Fisher’s exact and Mann-Whitney tests were used in the analysis of the relationship of socioeconomic and clinical data, with an adopted p value of p = 0.001), origin (p = 0.014), religion (p = 0.046) and income (p = 0.039), respectively. Conclusion: The variables that showed significant association were risk of impaired liver function and gender;imbalanced nutrition: More than body requirements and origin requirements;risk for deficient fluid volume and religion;and deficient fluid volume and income.

T-cell development ensures the formation of diverse repertoires of T-cell receptors(TCRs)that recognize a variety of *** is a major posttranslational modification present in virtually all cells,including T-lymphocytes,that regulates activity/*** these structures are known to be involved in TCR-selection in DP thymocytes,it is unclear how glycans regulate other thymic development processes and how they influence susceptibility to ***,we discovered stage-specific glycome compositions during T-cell development in human and murine thymocytes,as well as dynamic *** restricting the N-glycosylation profile of thymocytes to high-mannose structures,using specific glycoengineered mice(Rag1CreMgat1fl/fl),we showed remarkable defects in key developmental checkpoints,includingß-selection,regulatory T-cell generation andγδT-cell development,associated with increased susceptibility to colon and kidney inflammation and *** further demonstrated that a single N-glycan antenna(modeled in Rag1CreMgat2fl/fl mice)is the sine-qua-non condition to ensure normal *** conclusion,we revealed that mannosylated thymocytes lead to a dysregulation in T-cell development that is associated with inflammation susceptibility.

Background:Animal models are widely used in scientific research in order to obtain information from a whole organism under a specific set of experimental *** lineages of mice have been used to investigate diseases and new therapeutic strategies,and,consequently,hematological and biochemical tests in these laboratory animals are essential to validate scientific *** study seeks to establish reference values for hematological and biochemical parameters of four lineages of ***:We evaluated the hematological and biochemical profiles of 20 males and 20 females from the lineages Swiss(heterogeneous),BALB/c and C57BL/6(isogenic),and B6D2F1(hybrid),totaling 160 *** were standardized using the systems pocH-100iV Diff™for 19 hematological parameters and VITROS®350 for 12 biochemical ***:Results are shown as means and standard deviation,grouped by lineage and *** the values obtained in this study with the values from previous studies,some variations were detected,which could be explained by differences in methodologies or individual ***:Thus our study shows that knowledge and disclosure of the values of physiological parameters of laboratory animals is necessary,and emphasises the importance of considering variations influenced by gender,lineage and genotype in the choice of the best experimental model.
