One potential drawback of compost-based passive bioreactors,which is a promising biotechnology for acid mine drainage（AMD） treatment,is the transport of dissolved organic matter（DOM）-metal complexes in surface *** address this problem,the objective of this study was to assess the maximum capacity of organic substrates to release soluble DOM-metal complexes in treated water. The reactivities of DOM in maple wood chips and sawdust,composted poultry manure,and leaf compost were quantified toward Cd2＋,Ni2＋,Fe2＋,and Cu2＋ using fluorescence *** DOM showed the highest reactivity toward Fe,but a limited number of available sites for sorption,whereas DOM-Cd complexes exhibited the lowest fluorescence ***,the DOM from a mixture of wastes formed higher concentrations of DOM-metal complexes relative to sole *** DOM-metal complexes, the concentrations of DOM-Ni complexes were the *** reaching steady-state,low concentrations of DOM-metal complexes were released in treated water,which is in agreement with theoretical predictions based on geochemical ***,in addition to physicochemical characterization,fluorescence quenching technique is recommended for the substrate selection of bioreactors.

In this study,platinum(Pt)-polyaniline(PANI)/MWNTs catalysts were synthesized by two sequential ***,coreshell structural PANI/MWNTs composites were fabricated by in-situ chemical oxidation polymerization,in which MWNTs act as the core and PANI as the ***,Pt particles were deposited on the PANI/MWNTs composites by a chemical reduction *** morphology and constitution of the products were characterized by FT IR,scanning electron microscopy,transmission electron microscopy and *** was observed that the Pt particles were smaller in size and more uniformly distributed on these composite supports than those on the reference,pure MWNT *** results showed higher Pt(111) content in the catalyst deposited on PANI/MWNTs supports than that on *** cyclic voltammeter(CV) tests demonstrated that the electrode modified by Pt-PANI/MWNTs ternary composite catalyst showed a higher catalytic stability than Pt-MWNT binary catalyst did,due to the synergic interaction between Pt and the composite support.

Phosphate （Pi） availability is a major factor limiting growth, development, and productivity of plants. In both ecological and agricultural contexts, plants often grow in soils with low soluble phosphate content. Plants respond to this situation by a series of developmental and metabolic adaptations that are aimed at increasing the acquisition of this vital nutrient from the soil, as well as to sustain plant growth and survival. The development of a comprehensive understanding of how plants sense phosphate deficiency and coordinate the responses via signaling pathways has become of major interest, and a number of signaling players and networks have begun to surface for the regulation of the phosphate- deficiency response. In practice, application of such knowledge to improve plant Pi nutrition is hindered by complex cross-talks, which are emerging in the face of new data, such as the coordination of the phosphate-deficiency signaling networks with those involved with hormones, photo-assimilates （sugar）, as well as with the homeostasis of other ions, such as iron. In this review, we focus on these cross-talks and on recent progress in discovering new signaling players involved in the Pi-starvation responses, such as proteins having SPX domains.

This experiment aimed to study the effects of supplemental methionine sources,2-hydroxy-4 methyl(thio)butanoic acid(HMTBa)and DL-Methionine(DL-Met),on productive performance,egg quality,and redox status of laying ducks.A total of 792 healthy 25-wk-old Longyan laying ducks with similar body weights were randomly allotted to 11 treatment *** treatment group had 6 replicates of 12 *** trial lasted for 16 *** were fed a basal deficient diet(Met:0.24%;Met+Cys:0.51%)or supplemented with DL-Met or HMTBa at 0.05%,0.12%,0.19%,0.26%,and 0.33%of diet,*** with the basal diet,supplementation with either DL-Met or HMTBa increased the average egg weight,egg mass,and decreased feed to egg ratio during the whole trial period(P<0.05).Albumen weight and its ratio to total egg weight were increased,but yolk and shell ratio,albumen height,Haugh unit and shell breaking strength were decreased(P<0.05).Dietary DL-Met or HMTBa supplementation increased taurine,methionine,leucine,tryptophan and arginine content,and decreased serine and lysine content in plasma(P<0.05).The redox status of laying ducks was improved by enhancing the glutathione peroxidase and catalase activities,glutathione content and its ratio relative to glutathione(oxidized)content and decreasing malondialdehyde content and increasing mRNA expression of superoxide dismutase-1,glutathione peroxidase-1,hemeoxygenase-1 and nuclear factor-like 2 in liver and ileum with the supplementation of DL-Met or HMTBa(P<0.05).Liver health status measured by average area proportion lipid droplet was improved with supplementation of DL-Met or HMTBa(P<0.05).Villus height and villus height to crypt depth ratio in the ileum and the ileal gene expression of tight junction protein and occludin were increased with DL-Met or HMTBa supplementation(P<0.05).Taken together,these results suggested that the efficacy of dietary supplementation of HMTBa was similar to DL-Met,and it ranged from 98%to 100%for productive

Lighting transfer across multiple views through local color transforms

We present a method for transferring lighting between photographs of a static scene. Our method takes as input a photo collection depicting a scene with varying viewpoints and lighting *** cast lighting transfer as an edit propagation problem, where the transfer of local illumination across images is guided by sparse correspondences obtained through multi-view stereo. Instead of directly propagating color, we learn local color transforms from corresponding patches in pairs of images and propagate these transforms in an edge-aware manner to regions with no correspondences. Our color transforms model the large variability of appearance changes in local regions of the scene, and are robust to missing or inaccurate correspondences. The method is fully automatic and can transfer strong shadows between images. We show applications of our image relighting method for enhancing photographs, browsing photo collections with harmonized lighting, and generating synthetic time-lapse sequences.

Prior research suggests a link between circulating levels of follicle-stimulating hormone(FSH)and prostate cancer *** levels may also explain some of the observed differences in cardiovascular events among men treated with gonadotropin-releasing hormone(GnRH)antagonists compared to GnRH *** study evaluates the association between preoperative FSH and long-term cardiovascular and oncologic outcomes in a cohort of men with long follow-up after radical *** performed a cohort study utilizing an institutional biobank with annotated clinical *** levels were measured from cryopreserved plasma and compared with sex steroids previously measured from the same *** in oncologic outcomes between tertiles of FSH levels were compared using adjusted cox regression *** adverse cardiovascular events(MACE)were similarly assessed using hospital admission diagnostic codes.A total of 492 patients were included,with a median follow-up of 13.1(interquartile range:8.9–15.9)*** sulfate(DHEA-S)levels,but not other androgens,negatively correlated with FSH levels on linear regression analysis(P=0.03).There was no association between FSH tertile and outcomes of biochemical recurrence,time to castrate-resistant prostate cancer,or time to *** were identified in 50 patients(10.2%),with a mean time to first event of 8.8 *** association with FSH tertile and occurrence of MACE was *** results do not suggest that preoperative FSH levels are significantly associated with oncologic outcomes among prostate cancer patients treated with radical prostatectomy,nor do these levels appear to be predictors of long-term cardiovascular risk.

The decentralization of the energy sector＇s infrastructure is commonly understood as an important step towards an efficient and sustainable energy system. However, technical measures only have a limited impact on the systems goals. The decentralization of decision-making, the empowerment of households and the occurrence of prosumer communities require more human-centric approaches to meet future challenges; the application of the subsidiarity principle and decentralization seems inevitable but also unclear in its implementation in an energy system, the cooperation behavior of community members gains in importance and the design of prosumer communities must overcome economic problems. This article emphasizes the human-centered challenges which go along with prosumer communities. We apply economic principles to reveal major problems which go with the shifts in energy-related decision-making towards prosumers and integrate behavioral science for prosumer community design. We highlight the importance of energy as an interpersonal construct; a view on energy which will gain in importance within a prosumer communities shaped network.
