Lipid peroxidat.on plays a pivot.l role in t.e pat.ogenicit. and maint.nance of hepat.t.s. t.us, subst.nces prot.ct.ng hepat.cyt. membranes from lipid peroxidat.on are of great.import.nce in t.e management.of hepat.t.xicit. and hepat.t.s. t.e present.work deals wit. t.e in vit.o hepat.prot.ct.ve act.vit. of t.e met.anol ext.act.of Desmodium uncinat.m, it. sub-fract.ons, t.e major isolat.d compounds and some of t.eir semi-synt.et.c derivat.ves in order t. st.dy st.uct.re act.vit. relat.onships. Using hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)-induced lipid peroxidat.on of hepat.cyt. membranes as a model, t.e hepat.prot.ct.ve-guided phyt.chemical survey of t.e met.anol ext.act.of aerial part. of D. uncinat.m was carried out.by successive column chromat.graphy. One of t.e most.act.ve compounds (Isovit.xin) was chemically t.ansformed t. yield new semi-synt.et.c. t.e ident.ficat.on of isolat.d and semi-synt.et.c compounds was performed using NMR t.chniques, mass spect.omet.y and by comparison of t.eir dat. wit. t.ose report.d in t.e lit.rat.re. t.e n-but.nol fract.on was t.e most.effect.ve (IC50: 22.9 μg/mL) compared t. t.e crude met.anol ext.act.(IC50: 43.6 μg/mL) and ot.er fract.ons. t.e n-but.nol sub-fract.ons FA (cont.ining non-phenolic compounds) and FB (mainly cont.ining phenolic compounds) exhibit.d respect.ve IC50 of 14.36 and 128.2 μg/ml. Purificat.on of FA yielded 3-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-β-sit.st.rol (1), 3-O-β-D- 2-acet.l-amino-2-deoxyglucopyranoxyloleanoic acid (2), (2S, 3S, 4R, 7R, 8Z)-1-O-β-D-glucopyranosyl-2-[(R)-2'-hydroxyarachidoylamino]-docosan-8-ene-3,4,7-t.iol (4), spiraeamide (5), mannit.l (6), while FB afforded essent.ally t.ree C-glycosylflavonoids namely isovit.xin (7), vit.xin (8) and vicenin-3 (9). t.e unbalanced and inadequat. use of fert.lizers is one of t.e causes of soil degradat.on. Combined wit. t.e ever-increasing populat.on, it.is necessary t. find sust.inable agricult.ral product.on alt.rnat.ves. t.e present.work aims t. det.rmine t.e effect.of different.rat.s and mixt.t.s of organic amendment. on soil fert.lit. and t.e performance of Sunflower (Heliant.us annuus L.). In t.e field, t.eat.ent. consist.d of solid household wast. and faecal sludge in t.e rat.os of 3/5 (V1), and a mixt.re of faecal sludge and household wast. in t.e rat.o of 3/5 wit. 900 worms (V2). At.t.e end of t.e compost.ng process, V1, V2 compost. and t.e poult.y manure (PM) were applied at.rat.s of 4, 5 and 6 t.ha−1 in a randomized complet. block design wit. t.ree replicat.ons. Soil samples were collect.d before and aft.r t.e experiment.and analyzed. t.e main result. revealed t.at.at.t.e end of t.e compost.ng process, t.ere was a progressive improvement.in t.e physico-chemical propert.es of V1 and V2 compost.. In part.cular, t.e C/N rat.o, phosphorus (P) and t.t.l nit.ogen (t.) init.ally at.16.49 ± 0.42 (V1, V2), 21.06 ± 0.07 mg∙kg−1 (V1, V2), 0.76% ± 0.08% (V1, V2) respect.vely, increased aft.r 60 days t. 12.40 ± 0.41 (V1), 9.74 ± 0.28 (V2) for C/N, 21.94 ± 0.63 mg∙kg−1 (V1) and 22.04 ± 0.04 mg∙kg−1 (V2) for P, 0.96% ± 0.0% (V1) and 1.22 ± 0.04 (V2) for t.. t.e applicat.on of 6 t.ha−1of PM had t.e great.st.influence on t.e diamet.r and weight.of t.e flower heads (27.16 ± 4.01 t.ha−1 and 230.83 ± 2.64 t.ha−1), while 4 t.ha−1 of V2 gave t.e t.llest.sunflower plant. (110.07 ± 73.28 cm) as well as t.e diamet.r at.t.e crown (19.30 ± 9.07 cm). However, CEC was most.influenced by 4 t.ha−1 of V1, while 4 t.ha−1 of PM had t.e great.st.effect.on organic carbon and phosphorus. t.e accumulat.on of growt.-promot.ng ant.biot.c residues in animal product. and t.e resist.nce developed by bact.ria in poult.y farms has led t. a search for nat.ral compounds derived from plant.. t.is st.dy was designed t. promot. t.e product.on performance of broiler chickens using fresh Cupressus sempervirens leaves infusion. Fresh Cupressus sempervirens leaves were harvest.d, washed, chopped and ground t. a past. using a blender and ferment.d for t.ree days in a closed cont.iner at.a rat. of 500 g/L of wat.r. t.e solut.on obt.ined was filt.red and added at.t.e rat. of 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 ml/L of drinking wat.r. t.e chickens fed on t.e graded level of t.e solut.on were compared t. a cont.ol rat.on wit.out.an addit.ve and posit.ve cont.ol group supplement.d wit. 1 g ant.biot.c/kg feed. t. assess t.e impact.of land use on t.e Andosol fert.lit., changes in chemical and physical propert.es affect.ng soil qualit. were monit.red on Andosols from Mount.Bambout. submit.ed t. four different.land use and management.syst.ms: nat.ral cover, t.llage, burning and fallow. In comparison wit. t.e nat.ral cover, t.llage reduces Andosol OC (6.5 t. 4.8%), t.t.l N (4.51 t. 2.95‰), CEC (22.0 t. 20.9 ***–1) and t.e abundance of soil macro-aggregat.s expressed by t.e wat.r st.ble aggregat.s (WSA) varies from 53.8 t. 12.0%;and increases t.e bulk densit. (0.69 t. 1.09 ***–3) and t.e sum of exchangeable cat.ons (3.58 t. 4.84 ***–1). Burning also reduces Andosol OC (6.5 t. 0.8%), t.t.l N (4.51 t. 0.95‰) and CEC (22.0 t. 10.2 ***–1), but.increases soil pH (4.62 t. 6.54), t.e sum of exchangeable cat.ons (3.58 t. 5.74 ***–1) and t.e abundance of soil macroaggregat.s (WSA: 38.2 t. 57.0%). In comparison wit. t.llage, fallow increases Andosol OC (4.8 t. 6.5%), t.t.l N (2.95 t. 5.04‰), CEC (18.0 t. 21.6 ***–1), t.e sum of exchangeable cat.ons (3.58 t. 5.05 ***–1) and t.e abundance of soil macroaggregat.s (WSA: 12.0 t. 48.8%). Globally, t.e t.llage management.det.riorat.s Andosol chemical and physical propert.es affect.ng fert.lit., whereas t.e fallow management.rest.res t.em. t.e burning management.also improves some Andosol chemical and physical propert.es affect.ng qualit., but.it.won’t.last.long.

Pent.diplandra brazzeana root.was grounded and incorporat.d at.1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 g/L of drinking wat.r. Microbial resist.nce in livest.ck has become a subject.of great.concern of public and scient.fic int.rest. t.is st.dy was designed t. assess t.e effect. of met.enamine feeding regime on growt. performances of broilers chickens. For t.is purpose, 120 chicks of Cobb 500 st.ain, including 60 males and 60 females of 21 days old wit. an average weight.of 639 g and 584 g respectively were used. They were randomly distributed in 60 experimental units of 2 chicks of same sex per cage until 49 days. Methenamine was incorporated in feed (TA), acidified (TEa) and non acidified (TE) water and compared to an antibiotic medicated diet as positive control (T0+) and a ration without any supplement as negative control (T0). The main results showed that, regardless of the feeding regime, methenamine significantly (p 0.05) increased feed inteake, body weight, weight gain and decreased (p 0.05) feed conversion ratio. Methenamine whatever the feeding regime induced a significant increase in lactic acid bacteria counts compared to coliforms and coccidies counts. Salmonella were absent throughout the trial period. Regardless of sex and feeding regime, hematological parameters were not significantly affected, with the exception of white blood cell and platelet concentration that decreased significantly (p 0.05) in male broilers.
