p.wer-electronic devices are widely used in various ap.lications, such as voltage and frequency control for transmitting and converting electric p.wer. As these devices are becoming increasingly imp.rtant, there is a need to reduce their losses and imp.ove their p.rformance to reduce electric p.wer consump.ion. Current p.wer semiconductor devices, such as inverters, are made of silicon (Si), but the p.rformance of these Si p.wer devices is reaching its limit due to p.ysical p.op.rties and energy bandgap. To address this issue, recent develop.ents in wide bandgap.(WBG) semiconductor materials, such as silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN), offer the p.tential for a new generation of p.wer semiconductor devices that can p.rform significantly better than silicon-based devices. In this research, a green synthesized cop.er-zinc-tin-sulfide (CZTS) nanop.rticle is p.op.sed as a new WBG semiconductor material that could be used for op.ical and electronic devices. Its synthesis, consisting of the p.oduction methods and materials used, is discussed. The characterization is also discussed, and further research is recommended in the later sections to enable the continual advancement of this technology.

Determinants of Enrolment in Nigerian Universities

The study investigated the factors behind the enrolment p.ofile in Nigerian universities using p.imary and secondary data. The secondary data were obtained from National University Commission （NUC） and p.blished documents of National Bureau of Statistics （NBS） while p.imary data were from a survey of nine universities selected through p.rp.sive random samp.ing. The broad objective of this study is to identify the key factors influencing the enrolment p.ofile in Nigerian universities and the extent to which human resource and funding affect enrolment. The study was emp.rical analysis which used Vector Auto-regression Model （VAR） and linear interactive or step.ise regression method for data analyses. The results showed that variables in the model （funding, academic and non-academic staff） accounted for 46.6% of the changes in enrolment and confirmed that both funding and academic staffhave effect on enrolment while the effect of non-academic staff is quite minimal. The model was statistically significant （F = 4.43） and also, funding （t = 3.00, p.〈 0.05）, academic staff （t = 1.77, p.〈 0.05） and their interactive effect （t = 2.97, p.〈 0.05） had significant effect on enrolment. While the effect of non-academic staff was not significant （t = 0.36, p.〉 0.05）. However, the interactive effect of funding and academic staff （KL） accounting for 25% of the changes in enrolment is more imp.rtant than their individual effects： 5% for academic staff and 4% for funding. Therefore, interaction of funding and availability of academic staff has continued to constrain students＇ intake into Nigerian universities. Effects of Microselective Neurotomy on Focal Sp.sticity and Descrip.ion of the Surgical Technique

We studied the microselective neurotomy (MSN) and its advantages to alleviate disabling sp.sticity. The best indication for MSN is focal sp.sticity. We p.rformed 298 MSN, 87 nerves on the up.er limb, 211 nerves on the lower limb) in 68 p.tients. The initial causes were: stroke, cranial trauma, p.stop.rative comp.ications and multip.e sclerosis. MSN p.ocedures were p.rformed on the median nerve (n = 40) for wrist and finger flexion;musculo-cutaneus nerve (n = 38) for elbow flexion;ulnaris nerve (n = 9) for cubital deviation of the hand;gastrocnemius nerve (n = 98) and soleus nerve (n = 49) for equinus foot, tibial p.sterior nerve (n = 45) for varus foot, and fascicles (or bundles) of the flexor digitorum for “claw” toes (n = 19). The main p.eop.rative test to identify the resp.nsible nerve was a neuromuscular block with local anesthesia (lidocaine or bup.vacaine) injected into the site of the nerve connecting the sp.stic muscle. During surgery, the identified nerve was exp.sed and its ep.neurium op.ned. Nerve bundles were teased ap.rt into individual rootlets and a number of rootlets cut were p.eviously p.anned, according to the sp.sticity. Follow-up.was p.rformed for up.to 10 years, with a mean p.riod of 29 months. Results demonstrated a reduction of limb sp.sticity of 2 to 3 p.ints: modified Ashworth scale (MAS). p.in and clonus were also diminished in the affected limb. In some cases, voluntary movement was once again p.ssible. MSN is a useful alternative in those cases of focal sp.sticity where p.ysiotherap. and nerve block with botulinum toxin or p.enol no longer p.oduce satisfactory results.

Effect of Behavioural Therap. on Dep.ession in Adolescents with Sickle Cell Disease

Background: Dep.ession, one of the commonest mental health p.oblems in SCD, has high p.evalence rates. While p.ychological therap.es have been found to be beneficial in mild to moderate dep.ession, their use as non-p.armacological methods amongst adolescents in sub-Saharan Africa, p.rticularly Nigeria, is still at its infancy. Objective: To determine the effect of behavioural activation therap. on dep.ession in adolescents living with Sickle Cell Disease attending out-p.tient clinic at the Lagos State University Teaching Hosp.tal, Lagos, Nigeria. Method: The study was conducted in Lagos State University Teaching Hosp.tal, Lagos, Nigeria, between November 2017 to February 2018 (4 months) among adolescents living with SCD and dep.ession attending out-p.tient clinic. A randomized control trial (RCT) was conducted among p.rticip.nts assigned to treatment (30) versus control (30) group. A manualized behavioral therap. p.ogramme develop.d was delivered to the treatment group. The data was analysed using the Statistical p.ckage for Social Sciences (Sp.S) version 23. p.ir T-test was used to comp.re the two group. across continuous variables, p.e- and p.st intervention. Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was used to determine treatment effects controlling for baseline scores. Result: After the intervention, the mean dep.ession score reduced from 22.13 ± 3.08 to 13.02 ± 4.56 while p.ediatric quality of life score increase from 62.57 ± 17.85 to 67.90 ± 7.99 in the treatment group.(BDI, p.p.dsQL, p.= 0.045). However, the p.e- and p.st-intervention mean dep.ession scores in the control group.showed insignificant reduction from 22.23 ± 3.24 to 21.60 ± 2.75 and mean p.dsQL from p.e-intervention scores of 59.67 ± 12.60 to 56.73 ± 8.94 p.st intervention (BDI, p.= 0.388;p.dsQL, p.= 0.242). Effects of Tillage p.actices on Soil p.op.rties under Maize Cultivation on Oxic p.leustalf in South Western Nigeria

A study was conducted to determine the effect of tillage p.actices on soil p.op.rties under maize cultivation in savanna ecosystem of South Western Nigeria. The tillage systems evaluated were zero, convectional and traditional tillage systems. The results showed that there is a significant difference in soil p.rameters and crop.morp.ologies at p., for crop.growth and best p.rformance of crop.followed by conventional and no-tillage system in the area are studied resp.ctively. The significant difference in yields adduced to lower bulk density, higher water holding cap.city and p.rosity which increased p.ant root p.oliferation and op.imal utilization of soil nutrients under tilled methods. Hence tillage methods have the cap.bility to increase p.oduction while no-tillage is better under long term p.oduction for sustainable land use.

Context: Vitamin E is a p.werful antioxidant and p.ays an imp.rtant role in human rep.oduction. However, micronutrient deficiency is a major p.blic health p.oblem, p.rticularly in develop.ng countries. This study aimed to establish reference intervals (RIs) for vitamin E in black Congolese p.op.e of childbearing age using an ELISA method to p.ovide a reference for clinically assessing vitamin E status. Methods: A total of 127 healthy p.op.e between the ages of 20 and 42 who underwent check-up. were randomly selected for the study. ELISA method measured the level of vitamin E. The effect of gender on vitamin E level was assessed, and RI was established using a p.rametric ap.roach. Results: Women showed significantly higher levels of vitamin E than men (p.= 0.01). The RI of vitamin E in p.op.e of childbearing age was 3.71 to 13.72, 4.52 to 14.64, and 4.17 to 13.52 mg/L, resp.ctively, for the whole p.p.lation, women and men. Conclusion: Using an ELISA method, this study established RI for vitamin E in the black Congolese p.p.lation of childbearing age. We also found that women had significantly higher vitamin E levels than men. The results could p.ovide a scientific basis for interp.eting vitamin status in p.op.e of childbearing age in our setting.

In Mexico, the utilization of native heliconias germp.asm for p.eservation and genetic imp.ovement p.rp.ses, has been limited p.rtly because of the unawareness between their p.p.lation similarities and differences, and because of the degree of genetic divergence that exists among the intersp.cific and intrasp.cific ecotyp.s originated from different regions of the humid trop.cs. The objective of the p.esent study was to morp.ological characterization wild sp.cies of the genus Heliconias in Mexico through some qualitative and quantitative morp.ological descrip.ors. Fifty-five qualitative and quantitative morp.ological characters were studied in 25 accessions from 11 native sp.cies. Characters of p.ant, leaf, inflorescence, flower, fruit, and seed were taken into account. Data was analyzed by p.incip.l Comp.nent Analysis (p.A) and Hierarchical Cluster Analysis. Two analyses were carried out: the first one was for the 25 accessions that included characters of flower (55 variables), whereas the second was for only 19 accessions (66 variables) concluded until seed. The first six comp.nents exp.ained a 69.4% of the total variation based on p.A. The variables which contributed most significantly were: leaf length (p.p.p.tiole length (p.p.eudostem thickness (p.p.p.p.p.p.p. of inflorescence (p.p.tiole (p.p.duncle length (p.p.p.p.eudostem (p.p.ors were suggested to differentiate wild sp.cies of heliconias in Mexico.

Laser-driven neutron sources could offer a p.omising alternative to those based on conventional accelerator technologies in delivering comp.ct beams of high brightness and short *** examine this through p.rticle-in-cell and Monte Carlo simulations that model,resp.ctively,the laser acceleration of p.otons from thin-foil targets and their subsequent conversion into neutrons in secondary lead *** p.rameters relevant to the 0.5 p. LMJ-p.TAL and 0.6–6 p. Ap.llon systems are *** to its high intensity,the 20-fs-duration 0.6 p. Ap.llon laser is exp.cted to accelerate p.otons up.to above 100MeV,thereby unlocking efficient neutron generation via sp.llation *** a result,desp.te a 30-fold lower p.lse energy than the LMJ-p.TAL laser,the 0.6 p. Ap.llon laser should p.rform comp.rably well both in terms of neutron yield and ***,we p.edict that very comp.ct neutron p.lses,of∼10 p. duration and∼100μm sp.t size,can be released p.ovided the lead convertor target is thin enough(∼100μm).These sources are characterized by extreme fluxes,of the order of 10^(23) n cm^(−2) s^(−1),and even ten times higher when using the 6 p. Ap.llon *** values surp.ss those currently achievable at large-scale accelerator-based neutron sources(∼10^(16) n cm^(−2) s^(−1)),or rep.rted from p.evious laser exp.riments using low-Z converters(∼10^(18) n cm^(−2) s^(−1)).By showing that such laser systems can p.oduce neutron p.lses significantly brighter than existing sources,our findings op.n a p.th toward attractive novel ap.lications,such as flash neutron radiograp.y and laboratory studies of heavy-ion nucleosynthesis.

目的:观察茶氨酸对戊巴比妥钠诱导的自发活动的双向影响。方法:采用自发活动视频分析系统(D ig Behv-LA)观察戊巴比妥钠(5,10 ***-1)、茶氨酸(0.25,0.5,1.0,2.0,4.0 ***-1)及其合用后的镇静作用。以翻正反射消失为指标,观察两者对催眠作用的影响。结果:与生理盐水组比较,单用茶氨酸呈剂量依赖性的抑制边上活动时间占比,除***-1组无显著性差异外,其他剂量组分别为p.0.05,p.0.01,p.0.01和p.0.01,总路程、边上活动时间也有同样的趋势,占比与总路程有良好的线性关系(r=0.999 4,p.0.01)。戊巴比妥钠(5 ***-1)合用茶氨酸(≤2.0 ***-1)时,占比出现先降后升现象,与生理盐水组比较,合用茶氨酸(≤1.0 ***-1)显著抑制占比(均为p.0.01),而2.0 ***-1茶氨酸则无作用;与戊巴比妥钠组比较,合用茶氨酸(≤1.0 ***-1)显著加强其作用(均为p.0.01),2.0 ***-1茶氨酸与之相近,无显著性差异;总路程、边上活动时间呈现同样的趋势。戊巴比妥钠(10 ***-1)合用茶氨酸(≤1.0 ***-1)时,则出现先升后降现象;与生理盐水组比较,各组显著抑制占比(均p.0.01);与戊巴比妥钠组比较,合用0.25 ***-1茶氨酸时明显回升(p.0.01),而后随剂量增加逐步回落,无显著性差异;总路程、边上活动时间呈现同样的趋势。茶氨酸剂量依赖性加强戊巴比妥钠(25 ***-1)的催眠作用。结论:茶氨酸对戊巴比妥钠的镇静作用具有复杂的双向影响,而对催眠则具有加强作用。
