Enhanced heterogeneous activation of peroxymonosulfate by boosting internal electron transfer in a bimetallic Fe_(3)O_(4)-MnO_(2) nanocomposite

Transition metal-based bimetallic oxides can effectively activate peroxymonosulfate(PMS) for the degradation of organic contaminants, which may be attributed to the enhanced electron transfer efficiency between transition metals. Here, we investigated the high-efficiency catalytic activation reaction of PMS on a well-defined bimetallic Fe-Mn nanocomposite(BFMN) catalyst. The surface topography and chemical information of BFMN were simultaneously mapped with nanoscale resolution. Rhodamine B(Rh B, as a model pollutant) was used to evaluate the oxidation activity of PMS activation system. The maximum absorption peak of Rh B obviously blue shifted from 554 nm to 501 nm, and decreased sharply to disappear completely within 60 min. The removal performance is better than most of the reported single transition metal oxide. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) imaging of the BFMN electronic structure after catalytic activation confirmed that the accelerated internal electron transfer is mainly caused by the synergy effect of Mn and Fe sites at the catalysis boundary. The outstanding ability of BFMN for PMS chemical adsorption and activation may attribute to the enhanced covalency and reactivity of Mn-O. These results of this study can advance understandings on the origins of bimetallic oxides activity for PMS activation and developing the efficient metal oxide catalysts in real practice.

Graphene Supported Platinum Nanoparticles as Catalyst for Oxygen Reduction Reaction

Graphene supported Pt nanoparticles were fabricated via electrochemical reduction method and the appli- cation of them in oxygen reduction reaction was also investigated. The results of field emission scanning electron microscope（SEM）, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS） and Raman spectroscopy reveal that the interaction be- tween Pt nanoparticles and graphene sheets can prevent graphene from agglomeration and improve the electronic conductivity of the composite. And the graphene supported Pt nanoparticles exhibit excellent electrocatalytic activity toward oxygen reduction reaction.

Linear-fitting-based recursive filtering for nonlinear systems under encoding-decoding mechanism

This paper deals with a recursive filtering problem for a class of discrete time-varying nonlinear networked systems with the encoding-decoding mechanism. The linear fitting method is introduced to handle the nonlinearity. An encoding-decoding mechanism is constructed to describe the data transmission process in wireless communication networks(WCNs). To be specific, the measurement outputs are mapped by a quantizer to unique codewords for transmission in WCNs. Then, the codewords are decoded by the decoder to recover the measurement outputs which are sent to the filter. The processing/encoding delay and network delay have been considered. Firstly, on the premise that the upper bound of the filtering error covariance is minimum, the appropriate filtering gain is calculated. Then, the mean square exponential boundedness of the filtering error is analyzed. Finally, two simulation examples are presented to verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.

Adaptive sliding mode output tracking control based-FODOB for a class of uncertain fractional-order nonlinear time-delayed systems

An adaptive sliding mode control(ASMC) method, based on fractional-order disturbance-observer(FODOB), is presented for a class of fractional-order nonlinear time-delay systems(FONTDS) with uncertainties to solve the target output tracking *** external disturbances are estimated by FODOB, and the unknown internal perturbations of the system are adaptively estimated by sliding mode control(SMC). Furthermore, Gronwall's inequality approach is used to ensure that the output tracking error is uniformly bounded for FONTDS. Firstly, a fractional-order sliding mode control(FOSMC) based FODOB is proposed for a fractional-order linear time-delay system(FOLTDS). Secondly, combined with adaptive estimation, the ASMC of FONTDS is studied. Finally, a numerical example of FONTDS is used to verify the effectiveness of the proposed methods.

This paper investigates the anomaly-resistant decentralized state estimation(SE) problem for a class of wide-area power systems which are divided into several non-overlapping areas connected through transmission lines. Two classes of measurements(i.e., local measurements and edge measurements) are obtained, respectively, from the individual area and the transmission lines. A decentralized state estimator, whose performance is resistant against measurement with anomalies, is designed based on the minimum error entropy with fiducial points(MEEF) criterion. Specifically, 1) An augmented model, which incorporates the local prediction and local measurement, is developed by resorting to the unscented transformation approach and the statistical linearization approach;2) Using the augmented model, an MEEF-based cost function is designed that reflects the local prediction errors of the state and the measurement;and 3) The local estimate is first obtained by minimizing the MEEF-based cost function through a fixed-point iteration and then updated by using the edge measuring information. Finally, simulation experiments with three scenarios are carried out on the IEEE 14-bus system to illustrate the validity of the proposed anomaly-resistant decentralized SE scheme.

SPHERE： a scalable multicast framework in overlay networks

This paper presents Sphere, a scalable multicast framework in overlay network. Sphere is a highly efficient, serf-organizing and robust multicast protocol overlayed on the Internet. The main contrihutions of this paper are twofold. First, Sphere organizes the control topology of overlay network in two directions： horizontal and vertical. The horizontal meshes are used to locate and organize hosts in tracks, and the vertical meshes are. used to manage the data paths between tracks. Second, Sphere balances stress and stretch of the overlay network by assigning hosts into different tracks and clusters. This structure distributes stress on the muhicast trees uniformly, and meantime makes path stretch as small as possible. Simulations results show that Sphere can support multicast with large group size and has good performance on organizing meshes and building data delivery trees.

Nonlocal and strain gradient effects on nonlinear forced vibration of axially moving nanobeams under internal resonance conditions

Based on the nonlocal strain gradient theory(NSGT), a model is proposed for an axially moving nanobeam with two kinds of scale effects. The internal resonanceaccompanied fundamental harmonic response of the external excitation frequency in the vicinities of the first and second natural frequencies is studied by adopting the multivariate Lindstedt-Poincaré(L-P) method. Based on the root discriminant of the frequencyamplitude equation under internal resonance conditions, theoretical analyses are performed to investigate the scale effects of the resonance region and the critical external excitation amplitude. Numerical results show that the region of internal resonance is related to the amplitude of the external excitation. Particularly, the internal resonance disappears after a certain critical value of the external excitation amplitude is *** is also shown that the scale parameters, i.e., the nonlocal parameters and the material characteristic length parameters, respectively, reduce and increase the critical amplitude,leading to a promotion or suppression of the occurrence of internal resonance. In addition,the scale parameters affect the size of the enclosed loop of the bifurcated solution curves as well by changing their intersection, divergence, or tangency.

Wave propagation responses of porous bi-directional functionally graded magneto-electro-elastic nanoshells via nonlocal strain gradient theory
