Semi-quantitative Assessment of Brain Maturation by Conventional Magnetic Resonance Imaging in Neonates with Clinically Mild Hypoxic-ischemic Encephalopathy

Background：Mild hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy （HIE） injury is becoming the major type in neonatal brain *** aim of this study was to assess brain maturation in mild HIE neonatal brains using total maturation score （TMS） based on conventional magnetic resonance imaging （MRI）.Methods：Totally,45 neonates with clinically mild HIE and 45 matched control neonates were *** age,birth weight,age after birth and postmenstrual age at magnetic resonance （MR） scan were homogenous in the two *** to MR findings,mild HIE neonates were divided into three subgroups：Pattern Ⅰ,neonates with normal MR appearance; Pattern Ⅱ,preterm neonates with abnormal MR appearance; Pattern Ⅲ,full-term neonates with abnormal MR *** and its parameters,progressive myelination （M）,cortical infolding （C）,involution of germinal matrix tissue （G）,and glial cell migration bands （B）,were employed to assess brain maturation and compare difference between HIE and control ***：The mean of TMS was significantly lower in mild HIE group than it in the control group （mean ± standard deviation [SD] 11.62 ± 1.53 vs.12.36 ± 1.26,P 〈 0.001）.In four parameters of TMS scores,the M and C scores were significantly lower in mild HIE *** the three patterns of mild HIE,Pattern Ⅰ （10 cases） showed no significant difference of TMS compared with control neonates,while Pattern Ⅱ （22 cases）,Ⅲ （13 cases） all had significantly decreased TMS than control neonates （mean ± SD 10.56 ± 0.93 vs.11.48 ± 0.55,P 〈 0.05; 12.59 ± 1.28 vs.13.25 ± 1.29,P 〈 0.05）.It was M,C,and GM scores that significantly decreased in Pattern Ⅱ,while for Pattern Ⅲ,only C score significantly ***：The TMS system,based on conventional MRI,is an effective method to detect delayed brain maturation in clinically mild *** conventional MRI can reveal the different retardations in subtle structures and development processes among the different patterns of mild HIE.

Low complexity robust adaptive beamforming for general-rank signal model with positive semidefinite constraint

We propose a low complexity robust beamforming method for the general-rank signal model, to combat against mismatches of the desired signal array response and the received signal covariance matrix. The proposed beamformer not only considers the norm bounded uncertainties in the desired and received signal covariance matrices, but also includes an additional positive semidefinite constraint on the desired signal covariance matrix. Based on the worst-case performance optimization criterion, a computationally simple closed-form weight vector is obtained. Simulation results verify the validity and robustness of the proposed beamforming method.

Double carbohelicenes have attracted considerable attention due to their aesthetic structures, distinct π-conjugation extension, inherent chirality, and intriguing optical and electronic properties. Herein, the concise de novo synthesis of a new double[5]carbohelicene 1 together with its chiroptical properties, isomerization process and lasing application is presented. 1 was synthesized by a simple protocol involving the formation of a 6,6′-bipentacene as the key intermediate. It is worth noting that1 existed as two diastereomers 1-PP/MM and 1-PM, which were successfully isolated and unambiguously confirmed by Xray crystallography. The optical resolution of the racemic 1-PP/MM was successfully achieved by chiral-phase highperformance liquid chromatography（HPLC）, and 1-PP and 1-MM were characterized by circular dichroism. Interestingly, it was found that 1-PP/MM could be completely isomerized to 1-PM upon heating, and the detailed thermodynamics and kinetics of the isomerization process were systematically investigated. 1-PM exhibited deep-red luminescence with emission maximum at 723 nm and fluorescence quantum yield as high as 32.95%. Consequently, we can showcase the lasing application of 1-PM by doping with epoxy resin to assemble a bottle microlaser spontaneously, which the lasing wavelength is 796.6 nm at a threshold of 0.8 m J cm-2. We believe that our studies, including the facile synthesis methodology, detailed isomerization studies, and lasing application, will shed some light on the design and synthesis of novel carbohelical systems with more functions.

The visco-elastoplastic mechanical behavior related to the applied strain rate and temperature around the glass transition temperature of Polymethylmethacrylate(PMMA)has been systematically *** uniaxial tensile test was performed at strain rate and temperature rangs 1.0×10^(-4)-1.0×10^(-2)s^(-1)and 363-393 K,respectively,and the Dynamic Mechanical Analysis(DMA)test was carried out between 363 K and 413 K at various ***,the robust complex constitutive model considering the temperature and strain rate effect is proposed.A nonlinear viscoelastic model is established to describe the viscoelastic response on the basis of the Zhu-Wang-Tang(ZWT)model and the time temperature equivalence principle,including the dependence of strain rate and *** the yield stress,the cooperative model is *** viscoplastic mechanical response is manifested as the competition performance of the softening deformation and hardening *** predicted mechanical responses maintain good consistency with the experimental results,indicating that the visco-elastoplastic constitutive model proposed can accurately predict the mechanical behavior of PMMA materials within the imposed strain rate and near the glass transition temperature range.

Detection of Perfect Stealthy Attacks on Cyber-Physical Systems Subject to Measurement Quantizations: A Watermark-Based Strategy

In this paper, the attack detection problem is investigated for a class of closed-loop systems subjected to unknownbutbounded noises in the presence of stealthy attacks. The measurement outputs from the sensors are quantized before transmission.A specific type of perfect stealthy attack, which meets certain rather stringent conditions, is taken into account. Such attacks could be injected by adversaries into both the sensor-toestimator and controller-to-actuator channels, with the aim of disrupting the normal data flow. For the purpose of defending against these perfect stealthy attacks, a novel scheme based on watermarks is developed. This scheme includes the injection of watermarks(applied to data prior to quantization) and the recovery of data(implemented before the data reaches the estimator).The watermark-based scheme is designed to be both timevarying and hidden from adversaries through incorporating a time-varying and bounded watermark signal. Subsequently, a watermark-based attack detection strategy is proposed which thoroughly considers the characteristics of perfect stealthy attacks,thereby ensuring that an alarm is activated upon the occurrence of such attacks. An example is provided to demonstrate the efficacy of the proposed mechanism for detecting attacks.

Periodic post-embryonic changes in insects, including growth, development and metamorphosis, are strictly controlled by many compounds, including steroid hormones. The biosynthesis and clearance of 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E), the major active form of the insect steroid hormone ecdysone, result in titer fluctuations that help control insect development. The inactivation of 20E in the silkworm bombyx mori is highly tissue-specific, with CYP18A1 and ecdysone oxidase controlling 20E inactivation specifically in the mid-silk gland and midgut, respectively. Here, we characterized silkworm 3-dehydroecdysone 3α reductase (Bm3DE3α) and 3-dehydroecdysone 3β reductase (Bm3DE3β), two enzymes involved predominantly in the C-3-mediated catalysis of 20E in fat bodies. The ubiquitous and silk gland-specific overexpression of Bm3DE3α decreased the 20E titer, resulting in larval lethality and larval–pupal transition failure, respectively. In contrast, the ubiquitous and mid-silk gland-specific overexpression of Bm3DE3β increased the 20E titer, resulting in larval growth delays and lethality at the mid-fifth larval stage, respectively. Thus, Bm3DE3α and Bm3DE3β mediate fat body-specific steroid hormone metabolism in B. mori, indicating that highly diversified 20E metabolism-related mechanisms exist in different insect species.

Long-document semantic measurement has great significance in many applications such as semantic searchs, plagiarism detection, and automatic technical surveys. However, research efforts have mainly focused on the semantic similarity of short texts. Document-level semantic measurement remains an open issue due to problems such as the omission of background knowledge and topic transition. In this paper, we propose a novel semantic matching method for long documents in the academic domain. To accurately represent the general meaning of an academic article, we construct a semantic profile in which key semantic elements such as the research purpose, methodology, and domain are included and enriched. As such, we can obtain the overall semantic similarity of two papers by computing the distance between their profiles. The distances between the concepts of two different semantic profiles are measured by word vectors. To improve the semantic representation quality of word vectors, we propose a joint word-embedding model for incorporating a domain-specific semantic relation constraint into the traditional context constraint. Our experimental results demonstrate that, in the measurement of document semantic similarity, our approach achieves substantial improvement over state-of-the-art methods, and our joint word-embedding model produces significantly better word representations than traditional word-embedding models.
