Criegee intermediates(CIs),also known as carbonyl oxide,are reactive intermediates that play an important role in the atmospheric chemistry.Investigation on the structures and reactivity of CIs is of fundamental importance in understanding the underlying mechanism of their atmospheric reactions.In sharp contrast to the intensively studied parent molecule(CH_(2)OO)and the alkyl-substituted derivatives,the knowledge about the fluorinated analogue CF_(3)C(H)OO is scarce.By carefully heating the triplet carbene CF_(3)CH in an O2-doped Ar-matrix to 35 K,the elusive carbonyl oxide CF_(3)C(H)OO in syn-and anti-conformations has been generated and characterized with infrared(IR)and ultraviolet-visible(UV-vis)spectroscopy.The spectroscopic identification is supported by^(18)O-labeling experiments and quantum chemical calculations at the B3 LYP/6-311++G(3df,3pd)and MP2/6-311++G(2d,2p)levels.Upon the long-wavelength irradiation(λ>680 nm),both conformers of CF_(3)C(H)OO decompose to give trifluoroacetaldehyde CF_(3)C(H)O and simultaneously rearrange to the isomeric dioxirane,cyclic-CF_(3)CH(OO),which undergoes isomerization to the lowest-energy carboxylic acid CF_(3)C(O)OH upon UV-light excitation at 365 nm.The O_(2)-oxidation of CF_(3)CH via the intermediacy of CF_(3)C(H)OO and cyclic-CF_(3)CH(OO)might provide new insight into the mechanism for the degradation of hydro-chlorofluorocarbon CF_(3)CHCl_(2)(HCFC-123)in the atmosphere.

The variation of the effective modulus of silicon composite electrodes,which is a fundamental feature to analyze the coupled mechanical–electrochemical behavior of Si-based electrodes in high-capacity lithium-ion batteries,remains qualitatively controversial.To clarify the contradictory experimental results,numerical modeling of a representative volume element with silicon particles,carbon-binder domains(CBDs),and pores has been performed for the lithiation process.The key parameters for modulus variation were identified and evaluated.A mesostructure change is proposed to be a crucial mechanism that affects the modulus variation,and silicon softening is another key mechanism.Silicon softening and the decreasing CBD volume fraction collectively result in a decrease in the effective modulus of the composite,whereas an increase in the silicon volume fraction along with a decrease in porosity has the opposite effect.The findings of this work provide an in-depth and fundamental understanding of the mechanical properties of silicon composite electrodes.

Let R be an arbitrary associated ring.For an integer N≥2 and a self-orthogonal subcategory W of R-modules,we study the notion of Cartan-Eilenberg W N-complexes.We show that an N-complex X is Cartan-Eilenberg W if and only if X≌X′■X″in which X′is a W iV-complex and X″is a graded/7-module with X″n∈W for all n∈Z.As applications of the result,we obtain some characterizations of Cartan-Eilenberg projective and injective N-complexes,establish Cartan and Eilenberg balance of N-complexes,and give some examples for some fixed integers N to illustrate our main results.

Stomata play an essential role in regulating water and carbon dioxide levels in plant leaves,which is important for photosynthesis.Previous deep learning-based plant stomata detection methods are based on horizontal detection.The detection anchor boxes of deep learning model are horizontal,while the angle of stomata is randomized,so it is not possible to calculate stomata traits directly from the detection anchor boxes.Additional processing of image(e.g.,rotating image)is required before detecting stomata and calculating stomata traits.This paper proposes a novel approach,named DeepRSD(deep learning-based rotating stomata detection),for detecting rotating stomata and calculating stomata basic traits at the same time.Simultaneously,the stomata conductance loss function is introduced in the DeepRSD model training,which improves the efficiency of stomata detection and conductance calculation.The experimental results demonstrate that the DeepRSD model reaches 94.3%recognition accuracy for stomata of maize leaf.The proposed method can help researchers conduct large-scale studies on stomata morphology,structure,and stomata conductance models.

The life cycle pattern of empires is pervasive worldwide,and this is caused by multiple factors.In the history of Vietnam,there are totally about ten empires or dynasties,which have aggregately lasted for more than one thousand years.Here,we apply the life cycle model and agent-based modeling to uncover the underlying mechanisms of the life cycle pattern for Vietnam empires.Macroscopically,the man-land relationship greatly shapes the life cycle pattern of traditional agricultural empires.The balancing process between land and population is critical for the empires.The relationship between incomes and costs has determined the actions or strategies of the social members or individuals.It suggests that our optimal solutions and simulations have perfectly matched the real history of Vietnam.Under three optimal solutions,the distributions of simulated and real empire durations in history can be well-matched,in terms of both discrete(histogram)and continuous forms(kernel density).It indicates that the history of human society is a dynamic process,which is determined by certain evolutionary rules and regulations.Therefore,we are able to back-calculate,simulate,and even predict the future of empires or countries.

In the present work, the two-dimensional analytical solution for Li diffusion in grains and grain boundaries of a polycrystalline film electrode is established with consideration of Li-segregation at the grain boundary. The stress field induced by the inhomogeneity of Li con- centration, called chemical stress here for brevity, is analyzed via the finite element simulation. The effects of the grain boundary including its size, its diffusion coefficient as well as the segrega- tion phenomenon on the solute concentration and the chemical stress are examined. It shows that grain boundaries can assist fast diffusion and significantly affect the stress profile in the whole film. It proves that tailoring the grain boundary size or other grain boundary-related parameters may provide an alternative strategy for improving the overall diffusivity and mechanical stability of battery electrodes.
