Microwave-assisted synthesis of new 2-arylpyrimido[4′,5′：4,5]thiazolo[3,2-α]benzimidazol-4（3H）-ones from 3-aminothia- zolo[3,2-α]benzimidazol-2-earboxamide and aroyl halides in solvent-free condition is described. In comparison with classical conditions the reactions are faster and the yields are higher under microwave irradiation.

The device performance of CdS/CdTe solar cells largely depends on not only the back ohmic contact, but also the conformality of Cd S window layer coating. In order to reduce the light absorption loss in Cd S, the Cd S thickness is usually less than 100 nm. However, pinholes in Cd S and non-conformal coverage of Cd S on transparent conducting oxide layer will cause shunting thus leading to device performance degradation and failure. In this paper, low-temperature and low-cost fabrication methods, i.e., chemical bath deposition and electrochemical deposition, were used to deposit Cd S and Cd Te, respectively. It was found that the yield of device was around 20 % due to shunting. In order to alleviate this problem, a compact layer of TiO2 was inserted between the fluorine-doped tin oxide and Cd S as a buffer layer. The thickness effect of TiO2 was studied and showed that devices with thin(20 nm thickness) TiO2 performed better than the counterparts with thick layers. It was discovered that device yield improved to 80 % and stability in air substantially improved with TiO2 layer.

Evaluation of microRNA-146a expression in acute lymphoblastic leukemia

MicroRNAs （miRNAs） play an essential role in the development and progression of acute lymphoblastic leukemia （ALL）, and could serve as disease biomarkers and therapeutic targets. The function of miR-146a in lymphoid differentiation has been here with discussed. However, the role of this miRNA in the outcome of ALL is not well understood. Peripheral blood of 48 patients with ALL and 20 age- and sex-matched healthy control subjects was used to accurately evaluate the expression of miR-146a by stem-loop Real time PCR. No statistically significant difference was found between patients and controls in total miR-146a expression. The expression of miR-146a was high （18.75%）, low （27.08~o） and not different （54.17%） in ALL patients. Our analysis indicated no association between the expression of miR-146a and any prognostic factors such as WBC/PLT counts, Hb, fusion genes （P190 and some translocations） with ALL type. This study revealed that miR-146a cannot be an independent factor for predicting the outcome of ALL patients. We suggest a multi-parameter analysis including miRNAs, transcription factors and critical genes to achieve a precise clinical panel for prognostic values.

Some new 2-aryl-3,7-dihydro-4H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidin-4-ones have been prepared through cyclocondensation of 2-amino 1H-pyrrole-3-carboxamides with aromatic aldehydes followed by air oxidation in the presence of 3-methyl-1-（4-sulfonic acid）butylimidazolium hydrogen sulfate[（CH;）;SO;HMIM][HSO;],a Br（?）nsted-acidic ionic liquid,as a green and reusable catalyst in solvent-free conditions.

Previous strategies for controlling the surface morphologies of polyvinyl alcohol(PVA)-based hydrogels,including freeze-drying and electrospinning,require a posttreatment process,which can affect the final textures and properties of the *** particular interest,it is almost impossible to control the surface morphology during the formation of PVA hydrogels using these *** strategy reported in this study used the novel vortex fluidic device(VFD)technology,which for the first time provided an opportunity for one-step fabrication of PVA hydrogel *** hydrogels with different surface morphologies could be readily fabricated using a *** also reducing the crosslinking agent concentration,a self-healing gel with enhanced fracture stress(60%greater than that of traditionally made hydrogel)was ***,the associated selfhealing property remained unchanged during the 260-s mechanical testing performed with the strain rate of 5%*** VFD can effectively tune the surface morphologies of the PVA-based hydrogels and their associated properties,particularly the self-healing property.

Effect of Matricaria chamomilla Hydroalcoholic Extract on Cisplatin-induced Neuropathy in Mice

AIM: Cisplatin-based chemotherapy is a mainstay for the treatment of solid tumors, especially colorectal, ovarian, testicular, bladder, and lung cancer. Studies have shown that cisplatin could have painful effects on human and animal models. Matri-caria chamomilla (MC) has analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects. The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of MC hydro-alcoholic extract on cisplatin-induced peripheral neuropathy and to compare with morphine in mice. METHODS: Experiments were performed on 60 NMRI male mice weighed 25 g to 30 g which have been divided into 6 groups. The first group received normal saline; the second group received MC hydroalcoholic extract; the third group received cisplatin; the fourth group received MC hydroalcoholic extract and cisplatin, 96 hours before formalin test; the fifth group received morphine and the sixth group received cisplatin and mor-phine. The time of injected hind paw biting and licking time were measured in 5-minute interval for an hour. RESULTS: Results showed that formalin induced significant (P < 0.05) pain response (the first phase: 0-5 min and the second phase: 15-40 min after injection). Administration of MC extract before formalin injection showed significant (P < 0.05) decrease of pain responses in the first and second phase. Administration of cisplatin produced significant (P < 0.05) increase in pain response in both phases of formalin test. Injection of MC extract and cisplatin together have shown that MC is able to decrease the second phase of cisplatin-induced pain sig-nificantly (P < 0.05). Morphine decreased cisplatin-induced pain in the first and second phase of formalin test significantly ( P < 0.05). In comparison morphine has analgesic effects in the first phase and MC extract has anti inflammatory effects in the second phase of formalin test significantly (P < 0.05). Objective: To determine the larvicidal activities of petroleum ether, chloroform, ethyl acetate and methanol fractions of roots and fruits extracts of Astrodaucus persicus from Apiaceae family against malaria vector, Anopheles stephensi(An. stephensi).Methods: Twenty five third instar larvae of An. stephensi were exposed to various concentrations(10–160 g/L) of fractions and were assayed according to World Health Organization protocol. The larval mortality was calculated after 24 h ***: Among tested fractions, the highest larvicidal efficacy was observed from ethyl acetate fraction of fruits extract with 50% and 90% mortality values(LC_(50) and LC_(90)) of34.49 g/L and 108.61 g/L, respectively. Chloroform fraction of fruits extract was the second larvicidal sample with LC_(50) of 45.11 g/L and LC_(90) of 139.36 g/L. Petroleum ether fractions of fruits and roots and methanol fraction of fruits showed moderate toxicity against An. ***: Astrodaucus persicus is a potential source of valuable and natural larvicidal compounds against malaria vector, An. stephensi and can be used in mosquitoes control programs as an alternative to synthetic insecticides.

A set of 2D steady state finite element numerical simulations of electromagnetic fields and heating distribution for an oxide Czochralski crystal growth system was carried out for different input current shapes (sine, square, triangle and sawtooth waveforms) of the induction coil. Comparison between the results presented here demonstrates the importance of input current shape on the electromagnetic field distribution, coil efficiency, and intensity and structure of generated power in the growth setup.

Radar Signal Recognition by CWD Picture Features

In this paper a system for automatic recognition of radar waveform is introduced. This technique is used in many spectrum management, surveillance, and cognitive radio and radar applications. For instance the transmitted radar signal is coded into six codes based on pulse compression waveform such as linear frequency modulation (LFM), Frank code, P1, P2, P3 and P4 codes, the latter four are poly phase codes. The classification system is based on drawing Choi Willliams Distribution (CWD) picture and extracting features from it. In this study, various new types of features are extracted from CWD picture and then a pattern recognition method is used to recognize the spectrum. In fact, signals from CWD picture are defined using biometric techniques. We also employ false reject rate (FRR) and false accept rate (FAR) which are two types of fault measurement criteria that are deploy in biometric papers. Fairly good results are obtained for recognition of Signal to Noise Ratio (-11 dB).
