Effects of 42-year long-term fertilizer management on soil phosphorus availability, fractionation,adsorption–desorption isotherm and plant uptake in flooded tropical rice

Soil phosphorus(P) fractionation, adsorption, and desorption isotherm, and rice yield and P uptake were investigated in flooded tropical rice(Oryza sativa L.) following 42-year fertilizer and manure application. The treatments included low-input [unfertilized control without N, P, or K(C0N0)], farmyard manure(FYM)(C1N0), NP(C0NP), NPK(C0NPK), FYM + NP(C1NP), and high-input treatment, FYM + NPK(C1NPK). Grain yield was increased significantly by 74%over the control under the combined application of FYM + NPK. However, under low- and high-input treatments, yield as well as P uptake was maintained at constant levels for 35 *** the same period, high yield levels and P uptake were maintained under the C0 NP, C0 NPK,and C1 NPK treatments. These are unique characteristics of a tropical flooded ecosystem, which is a self-sustaining system for rice production. The Fe–P fraction was highest compared to the Ca–P and Al–P fractions after 42 years of fertilizer application and was significantly higher under FYM + NPK treatment. The P adsorption capacity of soil was highest under the low-input treatment and lowest under long-term balanced fertilization(FYM + NPK). In contrast, P desorption capacity was highest under NPK and lowest in the control treatment. Long-term balanced fertilization in the form of FYM + NPK for 42 years lowered the bonding energy and adsorption capacity for P in soil but increased its desorption potential, increasing P availability to the plant and leading to higher P uptake and yield maintenance.

3D-printed scaffolds with 2D hetero-nanostructures and immunomodulatory cytokines provide pro-healing microenvironment for enhanced bone regeneration

Three-dimensional (3D) printing technology is driving forward the progresses of various engineering fields, including tissue engineering. However, the pristine 3D-printed scaffolds usually lack robust functions in stimulating desired activity for varied regeneration applications. In this study, we combined the two-dimensional (2D) hetero-nanostructures and immuno-regulative interleukin-4 (IL-4) cytokines for the functionalization of 3D-printed scaffolds to achieve a pro-healing immuno-microenvironment for optimized bone injury repair. The 2D hetero-nanostructure consists of graphene oxide (GO) layers, for improved cell adhesion, and black phosphorous (BP) nanosheets, for the continuous release of phosphate ions to stimulate cell growth and osteogenesis. In addition, the 2D hetero-nanolayers facilitated the adsorption of large content of immuno-regulative IL-4 cytokines, which modulated the polarization of macrophages into M2 phenotype. After in vivo implantation in rat, the immuno-functioned 3D-scaffolds achieved in vivo osteo-immunomodulation by building a pro-healing immunological microenvironment for better angiogenesis and osteogenesis in the defect area and thus facilitated bone regeneration. These results demonstrated that the immuno-functionalization of 3D-scaffolds with 2D hetero-nanostructures with secondary loading of immuno-regulative cytokines is an encouraging strategy for improving bone regeneration.

Assigning conservation value and identifying hotspots of endemic rattan diversity in the Western Ghats, India

Rattans, or canes, are one of the most important non-timber forest products supporting the livelihood of many forest-dwelling communities in South and North-eastern India. Due to increased demand for rattan products, rattans have been extracted indiscriminately from the Western Ghats, a 1600-km mountain chain running parallel to the west coast of India. Extensive harvesting, loss of habitat and poor regeneration has resulted in dwindling rattan populations, necessitating an urgent attempt to conserve existing rattan resources. In this study, using niche-modelling tools, an attempt has been made to identify areas of high species richness of rattans in the Western Ghats, one of the mega-diversity regions of the world. We have also developed conservation values for 21 economically important and endemic rattans of the Western Ghats. We identified at least two to three sites of extremely high species richness outside the existing protected area network that should be prioritized for in situ *** study emphasizes the need to develop strategies for the long-term conservation of rattans in the Western Ghats, India.

Challenges in Retention of Patients in Continuum of HIV-Care in Delhi— Experience of a Decade &Way Ahead

Retention of the patients in HIV-care is critical for success of Anti Retroviral Treatment (ART) programme to reduce HIV-related morbidity & mortality and prevent emergence of drug resistance. In last decade in Delhi (April 2004 to March 2014), overall 24% HIV-positive patients were lost-to-follow-up (LTFU) at step-1 (testing to enrolment into HIV-care), 7.8% at step-2 (enrolment to ART eligibility), 23.7% at step-3 (eligibility to initiation of ART) and 16.6% at step-4 (initiation to lifelong ART) of retention cascade. About 2/3rd losses at step-4 were within 1st year and 80% within 2 years. The retention of the patients in pre-ART care was 3 times lower than those initiated ART. Only 27.4% patients were in active pre-ART care during 2013. The intensified LTFU tracking (ILT) undertaken during November, 2013 through March, 2014 was not successful in tracking 97% pre-ART LTFU clients due to incomplete addresses/or migration since address proof of patients on enrolment into HIV-care was not mandatory prior to 2009. Amongst patients tracked, 1.5% were alive, 0.24% had disengaged from care while 1.2% had died. After ILT overall “On ART” and “Pre-ART” LTFU rate in the last decade was 15.5% and 45.2%, respectively. The retention cascade of last year from April 2013 to March 2014 showed improvement through strategies adopted in Third Phase of National AIDS Control Programme (NACP-III;2007-2013), and “On ART” and “Pre-ART” LTFU rates declined to 9.4% and 7.4%, respectively. However, desired at least 90% retention at various steps of the cascade could not be achieved. National Policy of delivering ART services through limited number of standalone ART centers in India, despite its significant success, has limitation of leaky treatment cascade and calls for policy makers to decentralize the programme by its appropriate integration with general health services and task shifting to improve continuum of care.

Well Behaved Class of Charge Analogue of Adler’s Relativistic Exact Solution

We present a well behaved class of charge analogue of Alder’s (1974). This solution describes charge fluid balls with positively finite central pressure and positively finite central density;their ratio is less than one and causality condition is obeyed at the centre. The outmarch of pressure, density, pressure-density ratio and the adiabatic speed of sound is monotonically decreasing, however, the electric intensity is monotonically increasing in nature. The solution gives us wide range of parameter K (0.96 ≤ K ≤ 5.2) for which the solution is well behaved and appropriate for relativistic theory;therefore, suitable for modeling of super dense star. For this solution the mass of a star is maximized with all degrees of suitability and by assuming the surface density ρb = 2 × 1014 g/cm3. Corresponding to K = 0.96 and X = 0.35, the maximum mass of the star comes out to be 3.43 MΘ with linear dimension 32.66 Km and central redshift and surface redshift 1.09374 and 0.5509 respectively.

卵巢癌是妇科常见肿瘤,居世界恶性肿瘤的第七位,是女性患癌症死亡的第八位常见病因。卵巢癌被称为无声杀手,是最致命的妇科癌症。卵巢病变是所有年龄段妇女的巨大威胁,较年轻的女性病变可能性更大。女性卵巢癌的死亡率是5%,高于任何其他妇科疾病。当从影像不能鉴别肿瘤的良性、交界性和恶性时,卵巢肿瘤诊断也遇到瓶颈。由于临床症状不典型,癌症前期难以确诊,以致于疾病危及生命。早期诊断及治疗对患者的预后有重要价值,但是超过75%的卵巢癌患者症状出现在疾病晚期,其存活率很低。卵巢肿瘤病理组织学亚型可分为良性、交界性及恶性。良性卵巢肿瘤是一种在女性卵巢内外缓慢生长的异常组织块,约50%的卵巢肿瘤患者月经不规律,30%的患者月经正常。卵巢肿瘤通常是良性的,但如果不治疗,有些类型可能发展为恶性。15%的原发性卵巢肿瘤是交界性卵巢肿瘤,也称为低恶性肿瘤。术前区分卵巢良恶性肿瘤或交界性卵巢恶性肿瘤是手术设计的关键。与血清学诊断(CA-125)相比,有多种非侵入性的成像方法可以用于检测卵巢肿瘤的良恶性。目前,超声(Ultrasonography,US)、计算机断层扫描(Computed tomography,CT)和磁共振成像(magnetic resonance imaging,MRI)被广泛应用于卵巢肿瘤的诊断和研究。CT通常用于鉴别可疑的卵巢恶性肿瘤,但它有软组织分辨力低、放射性损害等缺点。MRI在特定问题上发挥作用,比如识别附件病变和在没有辐射危害的情况下提供有用手术策略建议。MRI能够识别骨盆区域的不同类型肿瘤,还有助于从恶性肿瘤中区分良性肿瘤和交界性肿瘤,MRI对畸胎瘤、子宫内膜癌、单纯性和出血性囊肿、纤维瘤的诊断具有较高的准确性和可信度。然而,形态标志的识别依赖于放射科医生的诊断经验。扩散加权成像(diffusion weighted imaging,DWI),它通过检测游离水分子的扩散程度来提供组织细胞和细胞膜完整性的信息。表观扩散系数(Apparent diffusion coefficient,ADC)具有定量水分子扩散的能力。ADC值与肿瘤细胞数量呈显著的负相关,这在以往肿瘤(乳腺癌、肾癌和前列腺癌)的研究中均有发现。目的本研究的目的是通过对卵巢肿瘤的实性成分进行DWI的ADC直方图分析,评价其在卵巢肿瘤鉴别诊断中的价值。材料与方法(1)受试者本研究为回顾性研究,收集并分析53例因可疑附件肿物在我院进行MR检查,并经手术病理证实的卵巢肿物患者。纳入标准:(1)行MR+DWI检查,图像完整清晰,无明显的运动伪影;(2)在我院行手术切除治疗,具有完整的病理诊断结果;(3)MR检查与手术间隔时间小于2周;(4)常规MR T2WI和T1WI显示囊实性卵巢肿物。排除标准:(1)经临床或影像确诊为卵巢肿瘤患者,在MR检查前接受放化疗治疗;(2)成熟囊性畸胎瘤;(3)子宫切除患者。53位患者的平均年龄为57.82?13.05岁,年龄范围为18-82岁。所有卵巢肿瘤患者均检测血清CA-125,并在MR检查后2周内进行手术且取得病理结果。(2)数据采集采用西门子磁共振扫描仪,对患者进行了盆腔MR平扫+DWI扫描,受试者取仰卧位,头先进,将线圈置于患者中下腹部,以子宫所在区域为中心。DWI检查取横轴位扫描,定位线同平扫,采用SE-EPI序列,b值分别为0和800s/mm2。将扩散敏感梯度分别施加于层面选择、相位编码和频率编码方向,分别得到三个方向上的信号平均后得到DWI影像并由此计算得到ADC图。(3)数据处理在飞利浦直方图分析软件工作站中,对卵巢囊实性-实性肿物的ADC值进行测量和评价。根据病理结果分为卵巢良性肿瘤、交界性肿瘤及恶性肿瘤(1组、2组、3组)三组。首先对三组数据进行正态分布检验,检验后数据满足正态分布,随即采用单因素方差分析(one way ANOVA)比较三组之间卵巢肿瘤实性成分的各参数值差异,若不满足正态分布,则采用非参数Kruskal-walllis检验比较参数值差异。三组间两两比较采用最小显著差值法(least significant difference,LSD)。p值<0.05为差异有统计学意义。同时,受试者操作特性曲线(receiver operating characteristic,ROC)用于评估卵巢肿瘤实性部分ADC值鉴别三种肿物性质的诊断能力,并确定截断值(cut-off value)、准确度、特异度、阳性预测值(PPV)、阴性预测值(NPV)。结果本研究共53例患者,病理结果为卵巢恶性肿瘤15例,平均年龄55.80±13.79(35-80)岁。交界性肿瘤18例,平均年龄54.29±14.28(32-82)岁。良性肿瘤20例,平均年龄60.06±9.72(18-82)岁。良性组CA-125为1.98±0.53U/ml,

Physicochemical Properties and Functional Compounds of Commercial Green Tea Seed Oil

Physicochemical properties of green tea seed oil including cold test,color,flash point,gravity,refraction index,moisture content,acid value,iodine value,unsaponifiable matter and saponification value were *** acid composition and catechin content of the oil was determined by GC and HPLC *** oil is stable at low *** flash point(267.8 ± 5.1℃) showed the high thermal stability of green tea seed oil as well,which support for suitability to use as cooking *** gravity and refraction index of green tea seed oil was found as 0.913 and 1.4679,*** of the oil was measured as 99.7 ± 0.2 for lightness,1.9 ± 0.1 for greenness and 6.6 ± 0.1 for *** value(KOH mg/ml),iodine value,unsaponifiable matter(%) and saponification value of green tea seed oil were 0.21,104.1,0.11 and 215,*** acids compositions of green tea seed oil was found to be dominated by oleic acid(81.3%) and presence of minor amount of linoleic acid(4.8%),palmitic acid(4.6%),palmitoleic acid(3.3%),linolenic acid(3.2%) and stearic acid(1.0%).The presence of antioxidative compounds such as(-)-epicatechingallate(207.2 ± 0.2 g /g) and(-)-epigallocatechin gallate(99.5 ± 0.6 g/g) in the oil could enhance its shelf life during storage.

Azygos anterior cerebral artery (ACA) is type I variation of ACA with a reported incidence of < 1% in population(1)This variation predisposes to the formation of aneurysm especially at the bifurcation zone. The aneurysm develops because of double hemodynamic pressure supplying medial surface of both cerebral hemispheres. However reported incidence of saccular aneurysm in azygos ACA is between 13% and 71%(2,3)It is often associated with other central nervous system (CNS) malformations like agenesis of corpus callosum, hydranencephaly and other vascular malformations[4].
