Effects of Tebufenozide on the Biological Characteristics of Beet Armyworm (Spodoptera exigua Hübner) and Its Resistance Selection

In this article, the selection of tebufenozide to beet armyworm （Spodoptera exigua Htibner） was studied by the treatments to alternative generations＇ 3rd-instar larvae with LC50 dose and to continuous generations＇ larvae with LC10 dose; the effects of tebufenozide on the biological characteristics of current and subsequent generations were examined by the treatments to 3rd-instar larvae and egg pods in different concentrations. After treatments with LC50 dose till F11, the toxicity of tebufenozide to beet armyworm had no significant change, whereas the pupation rate, pupal weight, and fecundity were reduced markedly. After treatments with LC10 dose till Fl9, the beet armyworm only developed 3.52-fold resistance, and the main biological characteristics were nearly accordant in each generation. The livability was reduced 72 h later after treatments to 3rd-instar larvae, respectively in 2.5-40 μg mL^-1, and larval duration, pupation rate, and pupal weight changed considerably with the increase in concentrations. The fecundity, larval livability, larval weight and pupal weight of subsequent generations were reduced as the dose increased over 10 μg mL^-1. The hatching rate of egg pods did not differ with that of the controls obviously after treatment in 10-300 μg mL^-1. But the larval livability, larval weight and pupal weight were reduced when eggs were exposed to 50 μg mL^-1 dose or more. The results indicated that tebufenozide had low resistance risk to the current and subsequent generations of beet armyworm even if tebufenozide had significant effects on the biological characteristics of this insect.

Phylogenetic analysis based on mitochondrial DNA sequences of wild rats, and the relationship with Seoul virus infection in Hubei, China

Seoul virus(SEOV), which is predominantly carried by Rattus norvegicus, is one of the major causes of hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome(HFRS) in China. Hubei province, located in the central south of China, has experienced some of the most severe epidemics of HFRS. To investigate the mitochondrial DNA(mt DNA)-based phylogenetics of wild rats in Hubei, and the relationship with SEOV infection, 664 wild rats were captured from five trapping sites in Hubei from2000–2009 and 2014–2015. Using reverse-transcription(RT)-PCR, 41(6.17%) rats were found to be positive for SEOV infection. The SEOV-positive percentage in Yichang was significantly lower than that in other areas. The mt DNA D-loop and cytochrome b(cyt-b) genes of 103 rats were *** these animals, 37 were SEOV-positive. The reconstruction of the phylogenetic relationship(based on the complete D-loop and cyt-b sequences) allowed the rats to be categorized into two lineages, R. norvegicus and Rattus nitidus, with the former including the majority of the rats. For both the D-loop and cyt-b genes, 18 haplotypes were identified. The geographic distributions of the different haplotypes were significantly different. There were no significant differences in the SEOVpositive percentages between different haplotypes. There were three sub-lineages for the D-loop,and two for cyt-b. The SEOV-positive percentages for each of the sub-lineages did not significantly differ. This indicates that the SEOV-positive percentage is not related to the mt DNA D-loop or cyt-b haplotype or the sub-lineage of rats from Hubei.

Advanced paternal age has been overlooked,and its effect on fertility remains *** studies have focused mainly on intracytoplasmic sperm injection(ICSI)cycles in men with ***,few studies have reported on men with semen parameters within reference ***,we conducted a retrospective cohort study analyzing the reproductive outcomes of couples with non-male-factor infertility undergoing in vitro fertilization(IVF)*** total,381 cycles included were subgrouped according to paternal age(0.05).The pregnancy rate was not significantly different in the 35–39-year-old group(42.0%;P>0.05),but was significantly lower in the≥40-year-old group(26.1%;P0.05),but showed a declining *** miscarriage rate significantly increased in the 35–39-year-old group(44.8%)compared with that in the<35-year-old group(21.0%;P<0.05).No abnormality in newborn birth weight was *** results indicated that paternal age over 40 years is a key risk factor that influences the assisted reproductive technology success rate even with good semen parameters,although it has no impact on embryo development.

In this paper, the turbulence characteristics were numerically investigatedin an asymmetric turbulent channel flow and the computational results were compared with therelevant experimental data. It shows that the results are consistent with the experiments and thereexist Counter-Gradient Momentum Transport (CGMT) phenomena in the central region near the smoothwall, and this region is as large as 6 percent of the channel width. In addition, a region, in whichCounter-Gradient-Transport (CGT) phenomena occur more evidently, is found close to the rough *** results can help to gain a deeper insight into the mechanism of CGT phenomena.

It is very popular to use hot-water bottles or some electric heaters to keep one warm when sleeping or sitting in cold days in China.l Unfortunately, people might be burned as a result of prolonged contact with the heaters because of senseless due to falling asleep, drunk or some diseases just like diabetes. This special case we reported here may help us to improve the diagnosis and treatment of low-grade thermal injury.

Gene mining and efficient biosynthesis of a fungal peptidyl alkaloid

Objective: Peptidyl alkaloids, a series of important natural products can be assembled by fungal nonribosomal peptide synthetases(NRPSs). However, many of the NRPSs associated gene clusters are silent under laboratory conditions, and the traditional chemical separation yields are low. In this study, we aim to discovery and efficiently prepare fungal peptidyl alkaloids assembled by fungal ***: Bioinformatics analysis of gene cluster containing NRPSs from the genome of Penicillium thymicola, and heterologous expression of the putative gene cluster in Aspergillus nidulans were ***, structural identification, and biological evaluation of the product from heterologous expression were carried ***: The putative tri-modular NRPS Anc A was heterologous-expressed in A. nidulans to give anacine(1) with high yield, which showed moderate and selective cytotoxic activity against A549 cell ***: Heterologous expression in A. nidulans is an efficient strategy for mining fungal peptidyl alkaloids.

Numerical simulation for large baseline interferometric imaging altimeter

Sea topography information holds significant importance in oceanic research and the climate change detection. Radar imaging altimetry has emerged as the leading approach for global ocean observation,employing synthetic aperture radar(SAR) interferometry to enhance the spatial resolution of Sea topography. Nevertheless, current payload capacity and satellite hardware limitations prevent the extension of the interferometric baseline by enlarging the physical antenna size. This constraint hinders achieving centimeter-level accuracy in interferometric altimetry. To address this challenge, we conducted a numerical simulation to assess the viability of a large baseline interferometric imaging altimeter(LB-IIA). By controlling the baseline within the range of 600-1000 m through spiral orbit design in two satellites and mitigating baseline de-correlation with the carrier frequency shift(CFS) technique, we aimed to overcome the above limitations. Our findings demonstrate the efficacy of the CFS technique in compensating for baseline decoherence, elevating coherence from less than 0.1 to over 0.85. Concurrently. The height difference accuracy between neighboring sea surfaces reaches 1 cm within a 1 km resolution. This study is anticipated to serve as a foundational reference for future interferometric imaging altimeter development, catering to the demand for high-precision sea topography data in accurate global bathymetry inversion.

The Argentine shortfin squid Illex argentinus is an economically important short-lived species widely distributed in the southwest Atlantic *** abundance and distribution of *** are associated with climate change and environmental *** potential distribution of *** was modeled with various environmental variables including sea surface temperature(SST),sea surface height(SSH),chlorophyll a,sea surface salinity(SSS),net primary productivity(NPP),mixed layer depth(MLD),eddy kinetic energy(EKE),and photosynthetically active radiation(PAR)using the maximum entropy(MaxEnt)approach during the peak fishing seasons(January–April).The habitat suitability index(HSI)was defined as the probability of species emergence from the MaxEnt model and the area of HSI≥0.6 was regarded as *** indicate that the predicted habitat correlated with the actual fishing position,with similar trends in the percentages of suitable habitats and catch per unit effort(CPUE)of *** from January to ***,SST,SSH,PAR,and MLD were identified critical environmental variables for the distribution of *** addition,the median of preferred ranges of the critical environmental variables were concentrated within the suitable habitats of *** Area under the Receiver Operating Characteristic Curve(AUC)was greater than 0.96 for all four *** in latitudinal and longitudinal gravity centers(LATG and LONG)of fishing effort were consistent with latitudinal and longitudinal gravity centers(LATG_H and LONG_H)of the *** findings suggest that the MaxEnt model is an effective tool to predict the potential distribution of ***,SST,SSH,PAR,and MLD should be given with more extensive attention in predicting the potential distribution of ***,as they are important environmental indicators that can help decision-makers search for the fishing ground of *** in the Southwest Atlantic.

MALODOR POLLUTION FROM REFINERY SEWAGE TREATMENT SYSTEM AND TREATMENT TECHNOLOGY

Main malodor pollutants from oil separator of Refinery A are hydrocarbons and a small quantity of sulfides. Main malodor pollutants from surface aeration tank of Refinery B are sulfides, especially CH 3SH. And main malodor pollutants from bubbling aeration tank of Refinery C are also sulfides, of which H 2S concentration is the highest. Catalytic combustion technology is applied to treat malodorous gas from oil separator of Refinery A, in which the total hydrocarbon removal was over 97%. The purified gas meets the national standard. Activated carbon adsorption is used to treat malodorous gas from surface aeration tank of Refinery B, and main pollutant CH 3SH removal reached up to 98%～100%. As for malodorous gas from bubbling aeration tank of Refinery C, bio packing tower is used and the removals of hydrogen sulfide, organic sulfides and benzene series reached up to 80%～98%.
