Objective The effects of arsenic exposure from drinking water, arsenic metabolism, and arsenic methylation on blood pressure（BP） were observed in this study. Methods The BP and arsenic species of 560 participants were determined. Logistic regression analysis was applied to estimate the odds ratios of BP associated with arsenic metabolites and arsenic methylation capability. Results BP was positively associated with cumulative arsenic exposure（CAE）. Subjects with abnormal diastolic blood pressure（DBP）, systolic blood pressure（SBP）, and pulse pressure（PP） usually had higher urinary i As（inorganic arsenic）, MMA（monomethylated arsenic）, DMA（dimethylated arsenic）, and TAs（total arsenic） than subjects with normal DBP, SBP, and PP. The i As%, MMA%, and DMA% differed slightly between subjects with abnormal BP and those with normal BP. The PMI and SMI were slightly higher in subjects with abnormal PP than in those with normal PP. Conclusion Our findings suggest that higher CAE may elevate BP. Males may have a higher risk of abnormal DBP, whereas females have a higher risk of abnormal SBP and PP. Higher urinary i As may increase the risk of abnormal BP. Lower PMI may elevate the BP. However, higher SMI may increase the DBP and SBP, and lower SMI may elevate the PP.

AIM: To analyze the clinical presentation of venous diethylene glycol (DEG) poisoning in patients with preexisting severe liver disease and factors that correlate with DEG poisoning. METHODS: Retrospective chart review was performed to analyze the epidemiology, clinical presentation, hepatorenal functions, hemodynamics and pathological characteristics of 64 patients with severe liver disease who received intravenous armillarisin-A, the solvent of which was DEG. Comparative analyses of correlating factors and causes for poisoning were based on the presence or absence of poisoning. RESULTS: Of the 64 patients who received armillarisin-A, 15 were found to have DEG poisoning. Twelve poisoned patients died. After a mean of 5 d, the poisoned patients displayed acute renal failure. Metabolic acidosis occurred in 13 cases. BUN, Cr, and CO2 values were significantly elevated and exacerbation of digestive tract symptoms and/or symptom was noted in 11 cases. Neurological system impairment was observed in 10 cases after 2 wk. Compared to the 49 non-poisoned patients, the poisoned patients exhibited significantly lower RBC and Hb values and higher WBC count. Renal biopsy from the poisoned patientsrevealed acute tubular necrosis and interstitial nephritis. Significant differences in preexisting severe hepatitis, ascites, renal disease, and diuretic therapy were found between groups. Prior to diethylene glycol injections, the mean values for neutral granular cells, BUN, Cr, calcium and phosphorous ions differed significantly between groups. CONCLUSION: Venous diethylene glycol poisoning is characterized by oliguric acute renal failure, metabolic acidosis, digestive symptoms, nervous system impairment, and a high probability of anemia and WBC proliferation. Mortality is high. Correlative factors include preexisting severe liver disease, renal disease, and infection.

Growth of gallium nitride(gan)inverted pyramids on c-plane sapphire substrates is benefit for fabricating novel devices as it forms the semipolar *** this work,gan inverted pyramids are directly grown on c-plane patterned sapphire substrates(PSS)by metal organic vapor phase epitaxy(MOVPE).The influences of growth conditions on the surface morphol-ogy are experimentally studied and explained by Wulff *** competition of growth rate among{0001},{1011},and{1122}facets results in the various surface morphologies of gan.A higher growth temperature of 985 ℃ and a lowerⅤ/Ⅲratio of 25 can expand the area of{}facets in gan inverted *** the other hand,gan inverted pyramids with almost pure{}facets are obtained by using a lower growth temperature of 930℃,a higherⅤ/Ⅲratio of 100,and PSS with pattern arrangement perpendicular to the substrate primary flat.

AIM: To identify the mutations in RS1 gene associated with typical phenotype of X-linked juvenile retinoschisis(XLRS) and a rare condition of concomitant glaucoma. ·METHODS: Complete ophthalmic examinations were performed in the proband. The coding regions of the RS1 gene that encode retinoschisin were amplified by polymerase chain reaction and directly sequenced. ·RESULTS: The proband showed a typical phenotype of XLRS with large peripheral retinal schisis in both eyes,involving the macula and combined with foveal cystic change,reducing visual acuity. A typical phenotype of recurrent glaucoma with high intraocular pressure(IOP) and reduced visual field was also demonstrated with the patient. Mutation analysis of RS1 gene revealed R102W(c.304C>T) mutations in the affected male,and his mother was proved to be a carrier with the causative mutation and another synonymous polymorphism(c.576C>CT). ·CONCLUSION: We identified the genetic variations of a Chinese family with typical phenotype of XLRS and glaucoma. The severe XLRS phenotypes associated with R102W mutations reveal that the mutation determines a notable alteration in the function of the retinoschisin protein. Identification of the disease-causing mutation is beneficial for future clinical references.

基于对73株计58种腐霉和6种疫霉的核糖体DNA的ITS序列分析,以海生疫霉为外围群,按邻接法构建系统发育树,对腐霉的系统发育关系进行了研究。结果表明:在58种腐霉中,Pythium ostracodes,***,***,***和***归为同一组,介于其它腐霉和疫霉之间,这5种腐霉的孢子囊均为球形;现已归为疫霉属的*** 单独为一组,它与腐霉的亲缘关系比疫霉更近;其余52种腐霉聚成一大组,这52种腐霉基本上按孢子囊或菌丝膨大体形态分成Ⅰ、Ⅱ两组:第1组31种腐霉, 其中30种腐霉的孢子囊或菌丝膨大体为球形;第Ⅱ组21种腐霉,其中19种腐霉的孢子囊为丝状、瓣状或裂片状。基于ITS序列分析,腐霉属的其它性状如藏卵器壁是否光滑、卵孢子是否满器、雄器的着生方式和数量、异宗配合等呈多元演化。

We aimed to study radiomics approach based on biparametric magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)for determining significant residual cancer after androgen deprivation therapy(ADT).Ninety-two post-ADT prostate cancer patients underwent MRI before prostatectomy(62 with significant residual disease and 30 with complete response or minimum residual disease[CR/MRD]).Totally,100 significant residual,52 CR/MRD lesions,and 70 benign tissues were selected according to ***,381 radiomics features were extracted from T2-weighted imaging,diffusion-weighted imaging,and apparent diffusion coefficient(ADC)*** features were selected using a support vector machine with a recursive feature elimination algorithm(SVM-RFE).Then,ADC values of significant residual,CR/MRD lesions,and benign tissues were compared by one-way analysis of *** regression was used to construct models with SVM features to differentiate between each pair of ***,the efficiencies of ADC value and radiomics models for differentiating the three tissues were assessed by area under receiver operating characteristic curve(AUC).The ADC value(mean±standard deviation[s.d.])of significant residual lesions([1.10±0.02]×10^(-3)mm^(2)s^(−1))was significantly lower than that of CR/MRD([1.17±0.02]×10^(-3)mm^(2)s^(−1)),which was significantly lower than that of benign tissues([1.30±0.02]×10^(-3)mm^(2)s^(−1);both P0.05),but superior to ADC value in differentiating significant residual from CR/MRD(AUC:0.748 vs 0.558;P=0.041).Radiomics approach with biparametric MRI could promote the detection of significant residual prostate cancer after ADT.

Effects of Increased Night Temperature on Cellulose Synthesis and the Activity of Sucrose Metabolism Enzymes in Cotton Fiber

Temperature is one of the key factors that influence cotton fiber synthesis at the late growth stage of cotton. In this paper, using two early-maturing cotton varieties as experimental materials, night temperature increase was stimulated in the field using far-infrared quartz tubes set in semi-mobile incubators and compared with the normal night temperatures （control） in order to investigate the effects of night temperature on the cotton fiber cellulose synthesis during secondary wall thickening. The results showed that the activity of sucrose synthase （SuSy） and sucrose phosphate synthase （SPS） quickly increased and remained constant during the development of cotton fiber, while the activity of acid invertase （AI） and alkaline invertase （NI） decreased, increased night temperatures prompted the rapid transformation of sugar, and all the available sucrose fully converted into cellulose. With night temperature increasing treatment, an increase in SuSy activity and concentration of sucrose indicate more sucrose converted into UDPG （uridin diphosphate-glucose） during the early and late stages of cotton fiber development. Furthermore, SPS activity and the increased concentration of fructose accelerated fructose degradation and reduced the inhibition of fructose to SuSy; maintaining higher value of allocation proportion of invertase and sucrose during the early development stages of cotton fiber, which was propitious to supply a greater carbon source and energy for cellulose synthesis. Therefore, the minimum temperature in the nightime was a major factor correlated with the activity of sucrose metabolism enzymes in cotton fiber. Consequently, soluble sugar transformation and cellulose accumulation were closely associated with the minimum night temperature.
