Complex adaptive system theory,agent-based modeling,and simulation in dominant technology formation

Dominant technology formation is the key for the hightech industry to“cross the chasm”and gain an established foothold in the market(and hence disrupt the regime).Therefore,a stimulus-response model is proposed to investigate the dominant technology by exploring its formation process and mechanism.Specifically,based on complex adaptive system theory and the basic stimulus-response model,we use a combination of agent-based modeling and system dynamics modeling to capture the interactions between dominant technology and the socio-technical landscape.The results indicate the following:(i)The dynamic interaction is“stimulus-reaction-selection”,which promotes the dominant technology’s formation.(ii)The dominant technology’s formation can be described as a dynamic process in which the adaptation intensity of technology standards increases continuously until it becomes the leading technology under the dual action of internal and external mechanisms.(iii)The dominant technology’s formation in the high-tech industry is influenced by learning ability,the number of adopting users and adaptability.Therein,a“critical scale”of learning ability exists to promote the formation of leading technology:a large number of adopting users can promote the dominant technology’s formation by influencing the adaptive response of technology standards to the socio-technical landscape and the choice of technology standards by the socio-technical landscape.There is a minimum threshold and a maximum threshold for the role of adaptability in the dominant technology’s formation.(iv)The socio-technical landscape can promote the leading technology’s shaping in the high-tech industry,and different elements have different effects.This study promotes research on the formation mechanism of dominant technology in the high-tech industry,presents new perspectives and methods for researchers,and provides essential enlightenment for managers to formulate technology strategies.

Constraints on the utilization of cereal straw in lactating dairy cows:A review from the perspective of systems biology

Cereal straw,a human inedible crop byproduct,can be used as a roughage source in ruminants.However,the nutrition density and palatability are very low,limiting its efficient utilization in animal production.This review aims to systematically provide an overview of the limitations of cereal straws,which is crucial for developing new strategies to enhance the efficient use of cereal straws by lactating dairy cows.Evolutionary molecular biology makes it possible to comprehensively understand the limitations of using cereal straw as a roughage source in dairy cows by different techniques,e.g.,multi-omics.Main constraints for utilization of cereal straw and stover in lactating dairy cows include low contents of easily fermented carbohydrates(pectin)and essential amino acids(Met,Phe,and branched-chain amino acids),high content of lignin and silica,and low nutrient digestibility.These cause insufficient supply of the precursors for milk synthesis and result in increased loss of nutrients in feces and urine.Several molecular mechanisms are revealed by multi-omics techniques,including changed amino acid and glucose metabolism,altered rumen microbial composition and function,and differential expression of miRNAs,mRNA,and protein in multi-organs that are associated with milk synthesis.These can be targets of approaches to improve the utilization of cereal straw by dairy cows.In addition,much attention should be given to the efficient countermeasures,including pretreatments by fibrolytic enzymes or steam explosion,dietary formulations such as supplement of pectin,methionine,and branched-chain amino acids,and feeding with other functional feedstuffs,which may improve the feeding and economic value of cereal straw for lactating dairy cows.The newly revealed functional genes(such as BAG3 in the rumen,PC in the liver,CSN1S2 in the mammary gland)and biomarkers(hippuric acid)as well as the integrative signaling and metabolic pathways(phenylalanine metabolism)related to the shortages of cereal straws could be used as nutritional or

Helper T cell(Th)has been identified as a critical immune cell for regulating immune response since 1980s.The type 2 helper Tcell(Th2),characterized by the production of interleukin-4(IL-4),IL-5 and IL-13,plays a critical role in immune response against helminths invading cutaneous or mucosal sites.It also has a functional role in the pathophysiology of allergic diseases such as asthma and allergic diarrhea.Currently,most studies have shed light on Th2 cell function and behavior in specific diseases,such as asthma and helminthes inflammation,but not on Th2 cell itself and its differentiation.Based on different cytokines and specific behavior in recent research,Th2 cell is also regarded as new subtypes of T cell,such as IL-9 secreting T cell(Th9)and CXCR5+T follicular helper cells.Here,we will discuss the latest view of Th2 cell towards their function and the involvement of Th2 cell in diseases.

On Least Squares Weighted Recursive Estimation of Clock Skew and Offset in Wireless Sensor Networks

Three clock synchronization algorithms for Wireless sensor networks(WSNs) in Pairwise broadcast synchronization(PBS) mechanism are derived.They include the joint Least squares estimator(LS),joint Least squares weighted estimator(LSW) and joint Least squares weighted Recursive estimator(R-LSW).For these estimators,the corresponding algorithms are derived and described by assuming a Gaussian random delay model.Unlike PBS,these estimators can achieve the Cramer-Rao lower bound(CRLB) for both listening node and active node without knowledge of the deterministic delay.The purpose of considering R-LSW is to reduce the use of storage space with the method of estimating while observing.Simulation and analytical results verify that the estimators are efficient.

Heterologous production of bioactive xenoacremone analogs in Aspergillus nidulans

Tyrosine-decahydrofluorene derivatives are a class of hybrid compounds that integrate the properties of polyketides and nonribosomal peptides.These compounds feature a[6.5.6]tricarbocyclic core and a para-cyclophane ether moiety in their structures and exhibit anti-tumor and anti-microbial activities.In this study,we constructed the biosynthetic pathway of xenoacremones from Xenoacremonium sinensis ML-31 in the Aspergillus nidulans host,resulting in the identification of four novel tyrosine-decahydrofluorene analogs,xenoacremones I–L(1-4),along with two known analogs,xenoacremones A and B.Remarkably,compounds 3 and 4 contained a 12-membered para-cyclophane ring system,which is unprecedented among tyrosine-decahydrofluorene analogs in X.sinensis.The successful reconstruction of the biosynthetic pathway and the discovery of novel analogs demonstrate the utility of heterologous expression strategy for the generation of structurally diverse natural products with potential biological activities.

Carbon nanotube-hyperbranched polymer core-shell nanowires with highly accessible redox-active sites for fast-charge organic lithium batteries

Organic electrode materials are promising for lithium-ion batteries(LIBs) because of their environmental friendliness and structural diversity.However,they always suffer from limited capacity,poor cycling stability,and rate performance.Herein,hexaazatrinaphthalene-based azo-linked hyperbranched polymer(HAHP) is designed and synthesized as a cathode for LIBs.However,the densely stacked morphology lowers the chance of the active sites participating in the redox reaction.To address this issue,the singlewalled carbon nanotube(SWCNT) template is used to induce the growth of nanosized HAHP on the surface of SWCNTs.The HAHP@SWCNT nanocomposites have porous structures and highly accessible active sites.Moreover,the strong π-π interaction between HAHP and highly conductive SWCNTs effectively endows the HAHP@SWCNT nanocomposites with improved cycling stability and fast charge-discharge rates.As a result,the HAHP@SWCNT nanocomposite cathode shows a high specific capacity(320.4 mA h g^(-1)at 100 mA g^(-1)),excellent cycling stability(800 cycles;290 mA h g^(-1)at 100 mA g^(-1),capacity retained 91%) and outstanding rate performance(235 mA h g^(-1)at 2000 mA g^(-1),76% capacity retention versus 50 mA g^(-1)).This work provides a strategy to combine the macromolecular structural design and micromorphology control of electrode materials for obtaining organic polymer cathodes for high-performance LIBs.

Experiments on film cooling with sonic injection into a supersonic flow

Film cooling experiments with sonic injection were conducted to investigate the effects of the number of the injection holes,the mass flow ratio,and the hole spacing on the film cooling effectiveness.The mainstream was obtained by the hydrogen-oxygen combustion,entering the experimental section at a Mach number of 2.0.The nitrogen with ambient temperature was injected into the experimental section at a sonic speed.The measured mainstream recovery temperature was approximately 910K.The mass flow ratio was regulated by varying the nitrogen injection pressure.The experimental results show that for the investigated cooling surface,the cooling effectiveness increases with the increase in the number of the injection holes with other parameters held constant.For a fixed cooling configuration,the cooling effectiveness increases with the increase in the mass flow ratio.Different from the subsonic film cooling,the optimal mass flow ratio is not observed.When the hole spacing is less than 4,no obvious difference is observed on the cooling effectiveness and lateral uniformity.With the mass flow ratio increasing further,this difference becomes much smaller.The shock wave also has an effect on the cooling effectiveness.Downstream the incident point of the shock wave,the cooling effectiveness is lower than that in the case without the shock wave.

Lithium-rich oxide compounds have been recognized as promising cathode materials for high performance Li-ion batteries,owing to their high specific capacity.However,it remains a great challenge to achieve the fully reversible anionic redox reactions to realize high capacity,high stability,and low voltage hysteresis for lithiumrich cathode materials.Therefore,it is critically important to comprehensively understand and control the anionic redox chemistry of lithium-rich cathode materials,including atomic structure design,and nano-scale materials engineering technologies.Herein,we summarize the recent research progress of lithium-rich cathode materials with a focus on redox chemistry.Particularly,we highlight the oxygen-based redox reactions in lithium-rich metal oxides,with critical views of designing next generation oxygen redox lithium cathode materials.Furthermore,we purposed the most promising strategies for improving the performances of lithium-rich cathode materials with a technology-spectrum from the atomic scale to nano-scale.

Performance Evaluation Method for Automated Driving System in Logical Scenario

With the continuous improvement of automated driving technology,how to evaluate the performance of an automated driving system is attracting more and more attention.Meanwhile,with the creation of scenario-based test methods,the traditional evaluation index based on a single test can no longer meet the requirements of high-level safety verification for automated driving system,and the performance evaluation of such a system in logical scenarios will be the mainstream.Based on the scenario-based test method and Turing test theory,a performance evaluation method for an automated driving system in the whole parameter space of a logical scenario is proposed.The logical scenario parameter space is partitioned according to the risk degree of concrete scenario,and the evaluation process in different zones are determined.Subsequently,the anthropo-morphic index in the safe zone and the collision-avoidance index in the danger zone are defined by comparing test results of human driving and ideal vehicle motion.Taking front vehicle low-speed and cut-out scenarios as examples,two automated driving algorithms are tested in the virtual environment,and the test results are evaluated both by the proposed method and by human observation.The results show that the results of the proposed method are consistent with the subjective feelings of humans;additionally,it can be applied to scenario-based tests and the verification process of an automated driving system.
