Ultra reliability and massive connectivity provision in integrated internet of military things(IoMT)based on tactical datalink

One of the major challenges arising in internet of military things(IoMT)is accommodating massive connectivity while providing guaranteed quality of service(QoS)in terms of ultra-high reliability.In this regard,this paper presents a class of code-domain nonorthogonal multiple accesses(NOMAs)for uplink ultra reliable networking of massive IoMT based on tactical datalink such as Link-16 and joint tactical information distribution system(JTIDS).In the considered scenario,a satellite equipped with Nr antennas servers K devices including vehicles,drones,ships,sensors,handset radios,etc.Nonorthogonal coded modulation,a special form of multiple input multiple output(MIMO)-NOMA is proposed.The discussion starts with evaluating the output signal to interference-plus-noise(SINR)of receiver filter,leading to the unveiling of a closed-form expression for overloading systems as the number of users is significantly larger than the number of devices admitted such that massive connectivity is rendered.The expression allows for the development of simple yet successful interference suppression based on power allocation and phase shaping techniques that maximizes the sum rate since it is equivalent to fixed-point programming as can be proved.The proposed design is exemplified by nonlinear modulation schemes such as minimum shift keying(MSK)and Gaussian MSK(GMSK),two pivotal modulation formats in IoMT standards such as Link-16 and JITDS.Numerical results show that near capacity performance is offered.Fortunately,the performance is obtained using simple forward error corrections(FECs)of higher coding rate than existing schemes do,while the transmit power is reduced by 6 dB.The proposed design finds wide applications not only in IoMT but also in deep space communications,where ultra reliability and massive connectivity is a keen concern.

Association analysis of an anti-obesity mechanism and key ripened Pu-erh tea bioactive components by mimicking human general tea drinking

Pu-erh tea， a traditional Chinese beverage， performs an anti-obesity function， but the correlation between its components and efficacy remains unknown. Here， we screened two Pu-erh teas with significant anti-obesity efficacies from 11 teas. In vitro experiments revealed that lipid accumulation in L02 cells and lipid synthesis in 3T3-L1 cells were significantly better inhibited by Tea-B than Tea-A. Further in vivo experiments using model mice revealed that the differences in chemical components generated two pathways in the anti-obesity efficacy and mechanism of Pu-erh teas. Tea-A changes the histomorphology of brown adipose tissue (BAT) and increases the abundance of Coriobacteriaceae＿UCG＿002 and cyclic AMP in guts through high chemical contents of cyclopentasiloxane， decamethyl， tridecane and 1，2，3-trimethoxybenzene， eventually increasing BAT activation and fat browning gene expression; the high content of hexadecane and 1，2-dimethoxy-benzene in Tea-B reduces white adipose tissue (WAT) accumulation and the process of fatty liver， increases the abundance of Odoribacter and sphinganine 1-phosphate， inhibits the expression of lipid synthesis and transport genes. These mechanistic findings on the association of the representative bioactive components in Pu-erh teas with the anti-obesity phenotypes， gut microbes， gut metabolite structure and anti-obesity pathways， which were obtained for the first time， provide foundations for developing functional Pu-erh tea.

Histone methylation plays crucial roles in regulating chromatin structure and gene transcrip-tion in epigenetic modifications.Lysine-specific demethylase 1(LSD1),the first identified histone de-methylase,is universally overexpressed in various diseases.LSD1 dysregulation is closely associated with cancer,viral infections,and neurodegenerative diseases,etc.,making it a promising therapeutic target.Several LSD1 inhibitors and two small-molecule degraders(UM171 and BEA-17)have entered the clinical stage.LSD1 can remove methyl groups from histone 3 at lysine 4 or lysine 9(H3K4 or H3K9),resulting in either transcription repression or activation.While the roles of LSD1 in transcrip-tional regulation are well-established,studies have revealed that LSDl can also be dynamically regulated by other factors.For example,the expression or activity of LSD1 can be regulated by many proteins that form transcriptional corepressor complexes with LSD1.Moreover,some post-transcriptional modifica-tions and cellular metabolites can also regulate LSD1 expression or its demethylase activity.Therefore,in this review,we will systematically summarize how proteins involved in the transcriptional corepressor complex,various post-translational modifications,and metabolites act as regulatory factors for LSD1 ac-tivity.

Flexible, efficient, and accurate tests for epidemics

Group testing involves discovering a small subset of distinguished subjects from a large population while efficiently reducing the total number of tests. It has been widely used for industrial testing, information technology, and biology, especially epidemic screening. Tests, in reality, are noisy for the presence of false outcomes. Some tests are accurate but time-consuming, while others are cheaper but less accurate. Exactly which test to use is constrained by various considerations, such as availability, cost, accuracy, and efficiency.In this paper, we propose flexible, efficient, and accurate tests(FEATs). FEATs are based on group testing with simple but careful designs by incorporating ideas such as close contact cliques and repeated tests. FEATs could dramatically improve the efficiency or accuracy of existing tests. For example, for accurate but slow tests, the FEAT can improve efficiency multiple times without compromising accuracy. On the other hand,for fast but inaccurate tests, the FEAT can sharply reduce the false-negative rate(FNR) and significantly increase efficiency. Theoretical justifications are provided. We point out some scenarios where the FEAT can be effectively employed.

Diagenetic evolution and reservoir quality of the Oligocene sandstones in the Baiyun Sag, Pearl River Mouth Basin, South China Sea

The Oligocene Zhuhai sandstones are significant reservoirs for hydrocarbons in the Baiyun Sag, South China Sea.For effective appraisal, exploration and exploitation of such a deep-water hydrocarbon sandstone, samples of five wells from depths of 850 m to 3 000 m were studied. A series of comprehensive petrographic and geochemical analyses were performed to unravel the diagenetic features and their impact on the reservoir quality.Petrographically, the sandstones are dominated by feldspathic litharenites and lithic arenites with fine to medium grain sizes and moderate to good sorting. The reservoir quality varies greatly with a range of porosity from 0.2% to 36.1% and permeability from 0.016 ×10~(–3) μm~2 to 4 301 ×10~(–3) μm~2, which is attributed to complex diagenetic evolution related to sedimentary facies;these include compaction, cementation of calcite, dolomite, siderite and framboidal pyrite in eogenetic stage;further compaction, feldspar dissolution, precipitation of ferrocalcite and ankerite, quartz cements, formation of kaolinite and its illitization, precipitation of albite and nodular pyrite, as well as hydrocarbon charge in mesogenetic stage. The dissolution of feldspar and illitization of kaolinite provide internal sources for the precipitation of quartz cement, while carbonate cements are derived from external sources related to interbedded mudstones and deep fluid. Compaction is the predominant factor in reducing the total porosity, followed by carbonate cementation that leads to strong heterogeneity. Feldspar dissolution and concomitant quartz and clay cementation barely changes the porosity but significantly reduces the permeability.The high-quality reservoirs can be concluded as medium-grained sandstones lying in the central parts of thick underwater distributary channel sandbodies(>2 m) with a high content of detrital quartz but low cement.

Comparison of nonlinear modeling methods for the composite rubber clamp

The cubic stiffness force model(CSFM)and Bouc-Wen model(BWM)are introduced and compared innovatively.The unknown coefficients of the nonlinear models are identified by the genetic algorithm combined with experiments.By fitting the identified nonlinear coefficients under different excitation amplitudes,the nonlinear vibration responses of the system are predicted.The results show that the accuracy of the BWM is higher than that of the CSFM,especially in the non-resonant region.However,the optimization time of the BWM is longer than that of the CSFM.

Chemoselective labeling-based spermatozoa glycan imaging reveals abnormal glycosylation in oligoasthenotspermia

Spermatogenesis, maturation, capacitation and fertilization are precisely regulated by glycosylation. However, the relationship between altered glycosylation patterns and the onset and development of reproductive disorders is unclear, mainly limited by the lack of in situ imaging techniques for spermatozoa glycosylation. We developed an efficient and highly specific spermatozoa glycan imaging technique based on the robust chemoselective labeling of sialic acid(Sia) and N-acetyl-D-galactosamine(Gal/GalNAc). We further proposed a “tandem glycan chemoselective labeling” strategy to achieve simultaneous imaging of two types of glycans on spermatozoa. We applied the developed method to the spermatozoa from oligozoospermic patients and diabetic mice and found that these spermatozoa showed higher levels of Sia and Gal/Gal NAc expression than the normal groups. Moreover, spermatozoa from diabetic mice showed a severe decrease in number, viability, and forward motility, suggesting that in vivo glucose metabolism disorders may lead to an elevated level of spermatozoa glycosylation and have a correlation with the development of oligoasthenotspermia. Our work provides a research tool to reveal the relationship between glycosylation modification and spermatozoa quality, and a promising clue for the development of glycan-based reproductive markers.

Synergistic effect of Zr and Mo on precipitation and high-temperature properties of Al-Si-Cu-Mg alloys

This study focuses on finding a solution to the sharp decline in mechanical properties of Al-Si-Cu-Mg alloys due to rapid coarsening of traditional intermediate phases at high temperature.A new type of modified al oy,to be used in automobile engines at high temperatures,was prepared by adding Zr and Mo into Al-Si-Cu-Mg alloy.The synergistic effects of Zr and Mo on the microstructure evolution and high-temperature mechanical properties were studied.Results show that the addition of Zr and Mo generates a series of intermetallic phases dispersed in the alloy.They can improve the strength of the alloy by hindering dislocation movement and crack propagation.In addition,some nano-strengthened phases show coherent interfaces with the matrix and improve grain refinement.The addition of Mo greatly improves the heat resistance of the alloy.The extremely low diffusivity of Mo enables it to improve the thermal stability of the intermetallic phases,inhibit precipitation during aging,reduce the size of the precipitates,and improve the heat resistance of the alloy.

Text Difficulty Study:Do Machines Behave the Same as Humans Regarding Text Difficulty?

With the emergence of pre-trained models,current neural networks are able to give task performance that is comparable to humans.However,we know little about the fundamental working mechanism of pre-trained models in which we do not know how they approach such performance and how the task is solved by the model.For example,given a task,human learns from easy to hard,whereas the model learns randomly.Undeniably,difficulty-insensitive learning leads to great success in natural language processing(NLP),but little attention has been paid to the effect of text difficulty in NLP.We propose a human learning matching index(HLM Index)to investigate the effect of text difficulty.Experiment results show:1)LSTM gives more human-like learning behavior than BERT.Additionally,UID-SuperLinear gives the best evaluation of text difficulty among four text difficulty criteria.Among nine tasks,some tasks’performance is related to text difficulty,whereas others are not.2)Model trained on easy data performs best in both easy and medium test data,whereas trained on hard data only performs well on hard test data.3)Train the model from easy to hard,leading to quicker convergence.

Abnormal grain growth induced byδ→γphase transformation in Fe-based shape memory alloys

Grain boundaries,including low-angle,high-angle,and coinci-dence boundaries,are intrinsic interfaces in polycrystalline materi-als.During heat-treatment at sufficiently high temperatures,grain boundary migration occurs because the grain boundaries are ther-modynamically unstable.Consequently,grain growth occurs due to a decrease in grain boundary area after heat-treatment[1].In general,there are two types of grain growth:normal grain growth,where grains grow uniformly,and abnormal grain growth,where one or a few grains selectively grow and engulf surround-ing smaller grains,leading to the formation of large grains,some-times several millimeters or greater in size[2].The classical tech-nique to achieve abnormal grain growth is the strain-annealing method,which involves subjecting the material to a small strain followed by annealing[3,4].This method has been reported to ob-tain single-crystal wires or plates[1].Additionally,abnormal grain growth can be achieved by plastic straining at high temperatures,resulting in the fabrication of large grains or single crystals[5].However,the above methods are not applicable to components with complicated shapes due to the inevitable deformation pro-cess.Recently,Omori et al.developed a simply method of abnor-mal grain growth to fabricate ultra-large grains,even single crys-tals,in Cu-Al-Mn[1],Fe-Mn-Al-Ni[2],and Fe-Mn-Al-Ni-Cr[6]al-loys.This method involves applying cyclic heat treatment between a high temperature BCC single-phase region and a low tempera-ture BCC+FCC two-phase region[1,2,6-12].Note that the cyclic heat treatment resulted in the formation of BCC sub-grain struc-tures responsible for abnormal grain growth[1,2,6-12].In addition,Yang et al.reported that abnormal grain growth occurred at above 900℃,and large-grains,even single crystals,were obtained only through annealing cast Cu-based polycrystalline alloys contained coherent nano-particles[13,14].Notably,the cyclic heat treatment and annealing cast alloys are deformation-free and much simpler than the strain-anne
