Ultra-compact lithium niobate microcavity electro-optic modulator beyond 110 GHz

A lithium-niobate-on-insulator(LNOI)electro-optic(EO)modulator based on a 2×2 FP-cavity was designed and realized with an ultra-compact footprint and an ultra-high bandwidth.A comprehensive analysis on the present LNOI FP-cavity modulator was conducted to reveal the dependence of modulation bandwidth and modulation effi-ciency on the cavity Q-factor and the operation wavelength detuning to the resonance.In particular,the 2×2 FP cavity was designed to achieve an optimal Q factor by reducing the reflectivity of reflectors and the cavity length,thus reducing the photon lifetime in the cavity.An ultra-short effective cavity length of only∼50μm was achieved for the designed LNOI FP-cavity modulator,with itsfootprint being as compact as∼4×500μm 2.It was demonstrated theoretically that the modulation bandwidth could be improved significantly to be over 200 GHz by utilizing the peaking enhancement effect.The fabricated device exhibited an excess loss of∼1 dB and an extinction ratio of∼20 dB in experiments,while the measured 3-dB bandwidth was higher than 110 GHz(beyond the maximal range of the facilities in experiments).Up till now,to our best knowledge,this has been the first LNOI microcavity modulator with a bandwidth higher than 110 GHz.Finally,high-quality eye-diagrams of 100 Gbps on-off keying(OOK)and 140 Gbps 4-pulse amplitude modulation(PAM4)signals were demonstrated experimentally,and the energy consumption for the OOK signals was as low as 4.5 fJ/bit.

A quantitative relationship between safety issues and dendritic lithium(Li) has been rarely investigated yet. Herein the thermal stability of Li deposits with distinct surface area against non-aqueous electrolyte in pouch-type Li metal batteries is probed. The thermal runaway temperatures of Li metal batteries obtained by accelerating rate calorimeter are reduced from 211 ℃ for Li foil to 111 ℃ for cycled Li.The initial exothermic temperature is reduced from 194 ℃ for routine Li foil to 142 ℃ for 49.5 m~2g^(-1) dendrite. Li with different specific surface areas can regulate the reaction routes during the temperature range from 50 to 300 ℃. The mass percent of Li foil and highly dendritic Li reacting with ethylene carbonate is higher than that of moderately dendritic Li. This contribution can strengthen the understanding of the thermal runaway mechanism and shed fresh light on the rational design of safe Li metal batteries.

Controlled Implementation of Non-local CNOT Operation Using Three-Qubit Entanglement

We investigate the controlled implementation of a non-local CNOT operation using a three-qubit entangled state. Firstly, we show how the non-local CNOT operation can be implemented with unit fidelity and unit probability by using a maximally entangled GHZ state as controlled quantum channel. Then, we put forward two schemes for conclusively implementing the non-local operation with unit fidelity by employing a partially entangled pure GHZ state as quantum channel. The feature of these schemes is that a third side is included, who may participate the process of quantum non-local implementation as a supervisor. Furthermore, when the quantum channel is partially entangled,the third one can rectify the state distorted by imperfect quantum channel. In addition to the GHZ class state, the W class state can also be used to implement the same non-local operation probabilistically. The probability of successful implementation using the W class state is always less than that using the GHZ class state.

Formaldehyde(FA),as the simplest endogenous carbonyl molecule,participates in many biosynthesis and metabolism in living organisms,such as nucleotides and adenosine triphosphate(ATP).FA concentrations are sub-millimolar in the normal healthy body,but can rise significantly in a number of disease pathologies.As a result,detecting endogenous FA is critical for illness diagnosis and rehabilitation therapy monitoring.Recent studies have focused on the FA-responsive turn-on fluorescence probe,which has huge promise in the detection and visualization of FA in living cells and organisms,as well as exceptional use in disease diagnosis and therapeutic monitoring.This review summarizes the fluorescence luminescence mechanism and design concepts of FA fluorescent probes,as well as their recent applications in bioimaging and illness diagnostics.Additionally,this article indicates the present dilemma of FA-responsive fluorescent probe,including selectivity,specificity,and detection mode,which may provide references for the development of FA-responsive fluorescent probes.

Microstructural characterization and mechanical properties of(TiC+TiB)/TA15 composites prepared by an in-situ synthesis method

Titanium matrix composites reinforced with ceramic particles are considered a promising engineering material due to their combination of high specific strength,low density,and high modulus.In this study,the TA15-based composites reinforced with a volume fraction of 10% to 25%(TiB+TiC)were prepared using powder metallurgy and casting technique.Microstructural characterization and phase constitution were examined using optical microscopy(OM),scanning electron microscopy(SEM),and X-ray diffraction(XRD).In addition,the microhardness,room temperature(RT)and high temperature(HT)tensile properties of the composites were evaluated.Results revealed that the reinforcements are distributed uniformly even in the composites with a high volume of TiB and TiC.However,as the volume fraction exceeds 15%,TiB and TiC particles become coarsening and exhibit rod-like and dendritic-like morphology.Microhardness increases gradually from 321.2 HV for the base alloy to a maximum of 473.3 HV as the reinforcement increases to 25vol.%.Tensile test results indicate that a reinforcement volume fraction above 20% is beneficial for enhancing tensile strength and yield strength at high temperatures,but it has an adverse effect on room temperature elongation.Conversely,if the reinforcement volume fraction is below 20%,it can improve high-temperature elongation when the temperature exceeds 600℃.

Soil Microbial and Enzymatic Activities Across a Chronosequence of Chinese Pine Plantation Development on the Loess Plateau of China

Successional and seasonal effects on soil microbial and enzymatic properties were studied in Chinese pine (Pinus tabu- laeformis) plantations in an age sequence of 3-, 7-, 13-, 21- and 28-year-old in northern Ziwuling region in the middle of Loess Plateau, China. The results indicated that plantation age and season affected soil microbial and enzymatic parameters significantly. Soil organic C, total N, microbial biomass C, microbial quotient, basal respiration, dehydrogenase, N-α-benzoyl-L-argininamide (BAA)-protease, urease and β-glucosidase increased quickly and tended to be highest at PF21 (21-year plantation), thereafter they remained nearly at a constant level, whereas the metabolic quotient (qCO 2 ) showed an initial increase and then decreased gradually. Measures of these soil properties showed significant seasonal fluctuations except for organic C and total N, which were found to be relatively stable throughout the study period, and the seasonal distributions were autumn > spring > summer > winter for microbial biomass C, microbial quotient, dehydrogenase, and β-glucosidase; autumn > summer > spring > winter for BAA-protease and urease; and summer > autumn > spring > winter for basal respiration and qCO 2 . Significant season × age interaction was observed for biomass C, basal respiration, dehydrogenase and BAA-protease.

[目的]定量检测胰腺癌(pancreatic cancer,PC)患者血清microRNA-497(miR-497)表达量,探讨其临床意义。[方法]检测70例PC患者(PC组)治疗前、30位健康者(正常对照组)血清miR-497表达量以及血清CA199、CEA含量;随访PC患者治疗后预后2年;分析血清miR-497表达量的临床价值。[结果]PC组治疗前血清miR-497表达量显著低于正常对照组(P0.05),三者联合检测可提高诊断敏感性和特异性。治疗前血清miR-497表达量与PC浸润深度、淋巴结转移及是否远处转移呈负相关(均P<0.01)。治疗前血清miR-497低表达组其治疗后1年、2年生存率显著低于高表达组(P<0.05)。Cox多因素分析显示治疗前血清miR-497表达量是影响PC预后的独立高危因素。[结论]血清miR-497低表达与PC侵袭转移、不良预后密切相关,对其诊断有一定价值,可成为PC临床辅助诊断、预后评价的指标。

Molecular Mechanisms of Intracellular Delivery of Nanoparticles Monitored by an Enzyme‑Induced Proximity Labeling

Achieving increasingly finely targeted drug delivery to organs,tissues,cells,and even to intracellular biomacromolecules is one of the core goals of nanomedicines.As the delivery destination is refined to cellular and subcellular targets,it is essential to explore the delivery of nanomedicines at the molecular level.However,due to the lack of technical methods,the molecular mechanism of the intracellular delivery of nanomedicines remains unclear to date.Here,we develop an enzyme-induced proximity labeling technology in nanoparticles(nano-EPL)for the real-time monitoring of proteins that interact with intracellular nanomedicines.Poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid)nanoparticles coupled with horseradish peroxidase(HRP)were fabricated as a model(HRP(+)-PNPs)to evaluate the molecular mechanism of nano delivery in macrophages.By adding the labeling probe biotin-phenol and the catalytic substrate H_(2)O_(2)at different time points in cellular delivery,nano-EPL technology was validated for the real-time in situ labeling of proteins interacting with nanoparticles.Nano-EPL achieves the dynamic molecular profiling of 740 proteins to map the intracellular delivery of HRP(+)-PNPs in macrophages over time.Based on dynamic clustering analysis of these proteins,we further discovered that different organelles,including endosomes,lysosomes,the endoplasmic reticulum,and the Golgi apparatus,are involved in delivery with distinct participation timelines.More importantly,the engagement of these organelles differentially affects the drug delivery efficiency,reflecting the spatial–temporal heterogeneity of nano delivery in cells.In summary,these findings highlight a significant methodological advance toward understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in the intracellular delivery of nanomedicines.

Online preparation of high-quality BN coatings with atomic diffusion based on carbon-free water-soluble precursor

Efficient and environmentally friendly production of high-quality continuous fiber coatings using current preparation methods is highly challenging due to issues such as scale and batch processing restrictions,low deposition rate,high energy consumption,and utilization of multiple environmentally hazardous steps.To address these challenges,we propose a stable and efficient wet chemical deposition coating method for high-throughput online continuous preparation of boron nitride(BN)coatings on ceramic fibers under an ambient environment.Our process involves surface modification,in-situ wet chemical deposition,and heat treatment,and all seamlessly connecting with the ceramic fiber preparation process through continuous stretching.Hydrophilic groups were introduced via surface modification enhancing wettability of the fiber surface with impregnating solution.An in-situ reaction and atom migration improve uniformity and binding of the coating.As a result,outstanding impregnation and adhesion properties are achieved.A comprehensive analysis to evaluate the impact of the BN coatings was conducted,which demonstrates that the BN-coated fibers exhibit a remarkable 36%increase in tensile strength,a 133%increase in fracture toughness,and enhanced temperature resistance of up to 1600℃.It provides a secure and efficient platform for cost-effective production of functional and high-quality coatings through targeted surface modification and rapid stretching impregnation.

A Hybrid Approach for Predicting the Remaining Useful Life of Bearings Based on the RReliefF Algorithm and Extreme Learning Machine

Accurately predicting the remaining useful life(RUL)of bearings in mining rotating equipment is vital for mining enterprises.This research aims to distinguish the features associated with the RUL of bearings and propose a prediction model based on these selected features.This study proposes a hybrid predictive model to assess the RUL of rolling element bearings.The proposed model begins with the pre-processing of bearing vibration signals to reconstruct sixty time-domain features.The hybrid model selects relevant features from the sixty time-domain features of the vibration signal by adopting the RReliefF feature selection algorithm.Subsequently,the extreme learning machine(ELM)approach is applied to develop a predictive model of RUL based on the optimal features.The model is trained by optimizing its parameters via the grid search approach.The training datasets are adjusted to make them most suitable for the regression model using the cross-validation method.The proposed hybrid model is analyzed and validated using the vibration data taken from the public XJTU-SY rolling element-bearing database.The comparison is constructed with other traditional models.The experimental test results demonstrated that the proposed approach can predict the RUL of bearings with a reliable degree of accuracy.
