A Buffer Scheduling Method Based on Message Priority in Delay Tolerant Networks

Routing protocols in delay tolerant networks usually utilize multiple message copies to guarantee the message delivery, in order to overcome unpredictable node mobility and easily-interrupted connections. A store-carry-and-forward paradigm was also proposed to further improve the message delivery. However, excessive message copies lead to the shortage of buffer and bandwidth. The spray and wait routing protocol has been proposed to reduce the network overload caused by the buffer and transmission of unrestricted message copies. However, when a node＇s buffer is quite constrained, there still exist congestion problems. In this paper, we propose a message scheduling and drop strategy on spray and wait routing protocol （SDSRP）. To improve the delivery ratio, first of all, SDSRP calculates the priority of each message by evaluating the impact of both replicating and dropping a message copy on delivery ratio. Subsequently, scheduling and drop decisions are made according to the priority. In order to further increase delivery ratio, we propose an improved message scheduling and drop strategy on spray and wait routing protocol （ISDSRP） through enhancing the accuracy of estimating parameters. Finally, we conduct extensive simulations based on synthetic and real traces in ONE. The results show that compared with other buffer management strategies, ISDSRP and SDSRP achieve higher delivery ratio, similar average hopcounts, and lower overhead ratio.

Hospital-acquired infections(HAIs) are serious problems for healthcare systems, especially in developing countries where public health infrastructure and technology for infection preventions remain undeveloped. Here, we characterized how strategy and technology could be mobilized to improve the effectiveness of infection prevention and control in hospitals during the outbreaks of Ebola, Middle East respiratory syndrome(MERS), and severe acute respiratory syndrome(SARS) in Asia and West Africa. Published literature on the hospital-borne outbreaks of SARS, Ebola, and MERS in Asia and West Africa was comprehensively reviewed. The results showed that healthcare systems and hospital management in affected healthcare facilities had poor strategies and inadequate technologies and human resources for the prevention and control of HAIs, which led to increased morbidity, mortality, and unnecessary costs. We recommend that governments worldwide enforce disaster risk management, even when no outbreaks are imminent. Quarantine and ventilation functions should be taken into consideration in architectural design of hospitals and healthcare facilities. We also recommend that health authorities invest in training healthcare workers for disease outbreak response, as their preparedness is essential to reducing disaster risk.

Delay tolerant networks （DTNs） are a kind of sparse and highly mobile wireless networks, where no stableconnectivity guarantee can be assumed. Most DTN users have several points of interest （PoIs）, and they enjoy disseminatingmessages to the other users of the same PoI through WiFi. In DTNs, some time-sensitive messages （disaster warnings, searchnotices, etc.） need to be rapidly propagated among specific users or areas. Therefore, finding a path from the source tothe destination with the shortest delay is the key problem. Taking the dissemination cost into consideration, we proposean efficient message dissemination strategy for minimizing delivery delay （MDMD） in DTNs, which first defines the user＇sactiveness according to the transiting habit among different PoIs. Furthermore, depending on the activeness, an optimaluser in each PoI is selected to constitute the path with the shortest delay. Finally, the MDMD with inactive state （on theway between PoIs） is further proposed to enhance the applicability. Simulation results show that, compared with otherdissemination strategies, MDMD achieves the lowest average delay, and the comparable average hopcounts, on the premisethat the delivery ratio is guaranteed to be 100% by the sufficient simulation time.

Non-centrosymmetric(NCS)structure is an indispensable prerequisite for second-order nonlinear optical(NLO)***,the mainstream approach for designing new NCS structures still relies on chemical substitution,necessitating an urgent infusion of fresh *** this work,two isomorphic sulfides AeMn_(6)Ga_(6)S_(16)(Ae=Ca,1;Sr,2)are afforded by modifying the skeleton of centrosymmetric(CS)Mn_(2)Ga_(2)S_(5) via introducing strong electropositive alkaline-earth ***,the incorporation of Ca^(2+)/Sr^(2+)cations allows the elementary[MnGaS_(9)]_(∞)chains to reconfigure into bumpy[MnS_(6)]-[GaS_(4)]layers in a new engagement manner,thus enabling the conversion from CS to NCS *** modifications cause not only strong second-harmonic generation(SHG)responses(~1.5×benchmark AgGaS_(2)@1,700 nm),but also significantly feasible bandgaps(2.60-2.64 e V)compared to the sulfide Mn_(2)Ga_(2)S_(5)(1.36 e V),which ultimately facilitate ultrahigh laser-induced damage thresholds(4.4-6.6×AgGaS_(2)@1,064 nm for compounds 1 and 2).The present study offers an ingenious approach for the transformation of CS to NCS structure.

Objective To evaluate the missing diagnosis of neck metastases by routine detecting method (palpation combined with one pathological slide) in laryngeal *** Sixty-six specimens of neck dissections were collected and observed by routine method, transparent method, and continuous sliding *** Totally, 1153 lymph nodes were detected by palpation method and another 1204 lymph nodes were detected by transparent *** lymph nodes detected by transparent method account for 51.1% of the total, and among them 10 metastases were found, which account for 15.6%(10/64) of metastatic lymph *** those with no metastasis detected by routine method, 50 μm interval continuous sliding method was performed, and 14 tiny metastases were found, which account for 21.9%(14/64) of metastatic lymph *** by routine method, most lymph nodes (95%) were in tumor growth and tumor suffusion *** missing diagnosis rate of routine method was 37.5%(24/64).Conclusions When routine method was used to detect lymph nodes in neck specimens, missing diagnosis should be considered to select best *** transparent method small lymph nodes could be found and it is a valuable method to observe pathological changes of small *** sliding method could find micrometastasis precisely, but the work burden is heavy and it is difficult to be widely used.

Fractures in oil and gas reservoirs have been the topic of many studies and have attracted reservoir research all over the world. Because of the complexities of the fractures, it is difficult to use fractured reservoir core samples to investigate true underground conditions. Due to the diversity of the fracture parameters, the simulation and evaluation of fractured rock in the laboratory setting is also difficult. Previous researchers have typically used a single material, such as resin, to simulate fractures. There has been a great deal of simplifying of the materials and conditions, which has led to disappointing results in application. In the present study, sandstone core samples were selected and sectioned to simulate fractures, and the changes of the compressional and shear waves were measured with the gradual increasing of the fracture width. The effects of the simulated fracture width on the acoustic wave velocity and amplitude were analyzed. Two variables were defined： H represents the amplitude attenuation ratio of the compressional and shear wave, and x represents the transit time difference value of the shear wave and compressional wave divided by the transit time of the compressional wave. The effect of fracture width on these two physical quantities was then analyzed. Finally, the methods of quantitative evaluation for fracture width with H and x were obtained. The experimental results showed that the rock fractures linearly reduced the velocity of the shear and compressional waves. The effect of twin fractures on thecompressional velocity was almost equal to that of a single fracture which had the same fracture width as the sum of the twin fractures. At the same time, the existence of fractures led to acoustic wave amplitude attenuations, and the compressional wave attenuation was two times greater than that of the shear wave.
