Non-stoichiometric carbides have been proven to be effective electromagnetic wave(EMW)absorbing *** this study,phase and morphology of XZnC(X=Fe/Co/Cu)loaded on a three dimensional(3D)network structure melamine sponge(MS)carbon composites were investigated through vacuum filtration followed by *** FeZnC/CoZnC/CuZnC with carbon nanotubes(CNTs)were uniformly dispersed on the surface of melamine sponge carbon skeleton and Co-containing sample exhibits the highest CNTs *** minimum reflection loss(RL_(min))of the CoZnC/MS composite(m_(composite):m_(paraffin)=1:1,m represents mass)reached-33.60 dB,and the effective absorption bandwidth(EAB)reached 9.60 *** outstanding electromagnetic wave absorption(EMWA)properties of the CoZnC/MS composite can be attributed to its unique hollow structure,which leads to multiple reflections and *** formed conductive network improves dielectric and conductive *** incorporation of Co enhances the magnetic loss capability and optimizes interfacial polarization and dipole *** simultaneously improving dielectric and magnetic losses,ex-cellent impedance matching performance is *** clarification of element replacement in XZnC/MS composites provides an effi-cient design perspective for high-performance non-stoichiometric carbide EMW absorbers.

Characteristics of catalytic destruction of dichloromethane and ethyl acetate mixture over HxPO4-RuOx/CeO2 catalyst

Catalytic destruction is an ascendant technology for the abatement of volatile organic compounds(VOCs)originating fromsolvent-based industrial *** varied composition tends to influence each VOC’s catalytic behavior in the reaction *** investigated the catalytic destruction of multi-component VOCs including dichloromethane(DCM)and ethyl acetate(EA),as representatives from pharmaceutical waste gases,over co-supported HxPO_(4)-RuOx/CeO_(2) catalyst.A mutual inhibitory effect relating to concentrations because of competitive adsorption was verified in the binary VOCs oxidation and EA posed a more negative effect on DCM oxidation owing to EA’s superior adsorption *** adsorption of EA on acidic sites(HxPO_(4)/CeO_(2))promoted DCM activation on basic sites(O^(2−))and the dominating EA oxidation blocked DCM’s access to oxidation centers(RuOx/CeO_(2)),resulting in boosted monochloromethane yield and increased chlorine deposition for DCM *** impaired redox ability of Ru species owing to chlorine deposition in turn jeopardized deep oxidation of EA and its by-products,leading to increased gaseous by-products such as acetic acid originating fromEA ***,DCM at low concentration slightly promoted EA conversion at low temperatures with or without water,consistent with the enhanced EA adsorption in co-adsorption *** was mainly due to that DCM impeded the shielding effect of hydrolysate deposition from rapid EA hydrolysis depending on the decreased ***,water benefited EA hydrolysis but decreased CO_(2) selectivity while the generated water derived from EA was likely to affect DCM *** work may provide theoretical guidance for the promotion of applied catalysts toward industrial applications.

Functional knowledge integration of the design process

Functional knowledge integration is the initial and core phase of a design process. It is the key phase to ensure that the functional requirement of the design product can be appropriately complied with, and its result is also the rudiment of the subsequent detailed design work. If this important phase can be supported by an increasingly distributed resource environment, and be automated such that its completion requires less manual work, the efficiency of the design process would be largely improved and its ability to promote innovation would be enhanced. Therefore, this study involved a detailed analysis of the functional knowledge integration of the design process, as well as the proposal of a corresponding running model. Based on the model, a computational algorithm and an evaluating method were established to automate functional knowledge integration. A corresponding computer program was developed to prove the feasibility of this approach, and it was used to design a solarpowered wiper blade.

Robust bounded control for uncertain flight dynamics using disturbance observer

The robust bounded flight control scheme is developed for the uncertain longitudinal flight dynamics of the fighter with control input saturation invoking the backstepping technique. To enhance the disturbance rejection ability of the robust flight control for fighters, the sliding mode disturbance observer is designed to estimate the compounded disturbance including the unknown external disturbance and the effect of the control input saturation. Based on the backstepping technique and the compounded disturbance estimated output, the robust bounded flight control scheme is proposed for the fighter with the unknown external disturbance and the control input saturation. The closed-loop system stability under the developed robust bounded flight control scheme is rigorously proved using the Lyapunov method and the uniformly asymptotical convergences of all closed-loop signals are guaranteed. Finally, simulation results are presented to show the effectiveness of the proposed robust bounded flight control scheme for the uncertain longitudinal flight dynamics of the fighter.

Spectral-spatial classification for hyperspectral imagery: a novel combination method based on affinity scoring

Recently, a general framework for spectral-spatial classification has caught the attention of the hyperspectral imagery(HSI) society. It consists of three parts: classification, segmentation and combination of the former results to make a refined labeled map. Seeing the potentials of the last part, we derive a novel combination rule based on affinity scoring(CRAS). The core of the system is affinity score(AS), which is derived from fuzzy logic. Every AS measures the degree, i.e., the affinity, by which a pixel belongs to a class. The score is essentially decided by three factors: local spatial consistency, spectral similarity, and prior knowledge. The method is compatible with basic classification and segmentation tools, thus saving the trouble of designing complex techniques for the other parts in the framework. Experimental results show that CRAS excels several basic techniques as well as various state-of-the-art methods in the area of spectral-spatial classification.

First-Principles Study of Field Emission from Zigzag Graphene Nanoribbons Terminated with Ether Groups

Field emission properties of zigzag graphene nanoribbons terminated with C-O-C ether groups (including cyclic and alternative ether groups at edge, denoted as ZGNR-CE and ZGNR-AE) are studied by adopting a self-consistent method based on density functional theory calculation. The results show that the field emissions of these two nanoribbons are dominated by states around Brillouin zone center and close to Fermi level. Because of lower work function, the ZGNR-CE can produce much stronger emission current than reconstructed zigzag graphene nanoribbon. The ZGNR-AE has nearly completely spin-polarized emission current, although its emission current is not strong enough. It is also found that under the lower E-field, the uniaxial strain can effectively modulate their emission currents but the spin polarization of ZGNR-AE keeps unchanged with the varied strain. The underlying mechanisms are revealed by combining the analyses of their work functions and band structures with edge dipole model.

Effects of surface fluoride modification on TiO_(2)for the photocatalytic oxidation of toluene

In the present study,we investigated the influence of surface fluorine(F)on TiO_(2)for the photocatalytic oxidation(PCO)of ***_(2)modified with different F content was prepared and *** was found that with the increasing of F content,the toluene conversion rate first increased and then ***,CO_(2)mineralization efficiency showed the opposite *** on the characterizations,we revealed that F substitutes the surface hydroxyl of TiO_(2)to form the structure of≡*** presence of the appropriate amount of surface≡Ti-F on TiO_(2)greatly enhanced the separation of photogenerated carriers,which facilitated the generation of·OH and promoted the activity for the PCO of *** was further revealed that the increase of only·OH promoted the conversion of toluene to ring-containing intermediates,causing the accumulation of intermediates and then conversely inhibited the·OH generation,which led to the decrease of the CO_(2)mineralization *** above results could provide guidance for the rational design of photocatalysts for toluene oxidation.
