Modified min-sum SCAN decoding algorithm for polar codes

The state-of-the-art soft-output decoder of polar codes is the soft cancellation(SCAN) decoding algorithm, which performs well at the cost of plentiful computations. Based on the SCAN decoding algorithm, a modified method with revised iterative formula is proposed, marked modified min-sum SCAN(MMS-SCAN). The proposed algorithm simplifies the update formula of nodes and reduces the complexity of iterative decoding process by the piecewise approximation function. Meanwhile, the bit error rate(BER) of the proposed method can approach the performance of original SCAN decoding method without performance loss. The simulation reveals that the MMS-SCAN decoding algorithm can achieve the effect that the BER curve almost coincides with the original SCAN decoding curve.

The utilization of a proton beam from the China Spallation Neutron Source(CSNS)for producing medical radioisotopes is appealing owing to its high current intensity and high *** medical isotope production based on the proton beam at the CSNS is significant for the development of future radiopharmaceuticals,particularly for theα-emitting *** production yield and activity of typical medical isotopes were estimated using the FLUKA *** results indicate that the 300-MeV proton beam with a power of 100 kW at CSNS-II is highly suitable for proof-of-principle studies of most medical *** particular,this proton beam offers tremendous advantages for the large-scale production of alpha radioisotopes,such as 225Ac,whose theoretical production yield can reach approximately 57 Ci/*** on these results,we provide perspectives on the use of CSNS proton beams to produce radioisotopes for medical applications.

With the rapid development of information technologies such as digital twin, extended reality, and blockchain,the hype around "metaverse" is increasing at astronomical speed. However, much attention has been paid to its entertainment and social functions. Considering the openness and interoperability of metaverses, the market of quality inspection promises explosive growth. In this paper, taking advantage of metaverses, we first propose the concept of Automated Quality Inspection(Auto QI), which performs integrated inspection covering the entire manufacturing process, including Quality of Materials, Quality of Manufacturing(Qo M), Quality of Products, Quality of Processes(Qo P), Quality of Systems, and Quality of Services(Qo S). Based on the scenarios engineering theory, we discuss how to perform interactions between metaverses and the physical world for virtual design instruction and physical validation feedback. Then we introduce a bottomup inspection device development workflow with productivity tools offered by metaverses, making development more effective and efficient than ever. As the core of quality inspection,we propose Quality Transformers to complete detection task,while federated learning is integrated to regulate data *** summary, we point out the development directions of quality inspection under metaverse tide.

The pyrotechnic control subsystem plays an important role in opening the solar array of a satellite. Assessing the reliability of the subsystem requires determining the level of a control factor that is needed to cause the desired response and energy output with high probability. A two-phase adaptive design to estimate the level of interest is proposed and studied. The convergence of the design is obtained. A simulation study shows that the estimate is very close to its population value and is robust to the initial guess of the design. As an application, the design is used to assess the reliability of a real pyrotechnic control subsystem.

Improving color rendering index of Mn-doped ZnO nanorods on silicon-based substrate

Porous silicon pillar array（PSPA） samples which are ideal substantial materials with dominant electronic and luminescence properties were prepared by surface etching method. ZnO nanorods with or without Mn doping grown uniformly and aligned onto PSPA regardless of lattice matching show various photoluminescence（PL）properties. The doped Mn ions in ZnO nanorods were directly observed by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy（XPS）,and ZnO structures were detected by X-ray diffraction（XRD）. As the doping concentration increases,XRD peaks of ZnO nanorods shift to low angle. The influences of doping Mn ions on luminescence properties of ZnO nanorods were investigated. Except for the ultraviolet（UV） PL band, the broad PL band is observed at visible region. The band could be divided into three separate bands（orange, green and red） by Lorentzian deconvolution. The intensity of orange PL band firstly increases then decreases, and then gets the maximum at the doping Mn-to-Zn molar ratio of 2.0：100.0 which is the most effective doping concentration. The green PL band is attributed to zinc vacancy of ZnO, the orange PL band to Mn ions recombination of itself, and the red PL band to oxygen vacancy of ZnO, respectively. As the Mn-doped ZnO nanorods could emit yellow green luminescence excited by UV radiation, and doped Mn ions could improve the color rendering index of the luminescence, the nanorods could be used as promising white-light emitters in the future.

Background： Most eukaryotic protein-coding genes exhibit alternative cleavage and polyadenylation （APA）, resulting in mRNA isoforms with different 3＇ untranslated regions （3＇ UTRs）. Studies have shown that brain cells tend to express long 3＇ UTR isoforms using distal cleavage and polyadenylation sites （PASs）. Methods： Using our recently developed, comprehensive PAS database PolyA_DB, we developed an efficient method to examine APA, named Significance Analysis of Alternative Polyadenylation using RNA-seq （SAAP-RS）. We applied this method to study APA in brain cells and neurogenesis. Results： We found that neurons globally express longer 3＇ UTRs than other cell types in brain, and microglia and endothelial cells express substantially shorter 3＇ UTRs. We show that the 3＇ UTR diversity across brain cells can be corroborated with single cell sequencing data. Further analysis of APA regulation of 3＇ UTRs during differentiation of embryonic stem cells into neurons indicates that a large fraction of the APA events regulated in neurogenesis are similarly modulated in myogenesis, but to a much greater extent. Conclusion： Together, our data delineate APA profiles in different brain cells and indicate that APA regulation in neurogenesis is largely an augmented process taking place in other types of cell differentiation.

In this paper, a new paradigm named parallel distance is presented to measure the data information in parallel driving system. As an example, the core variables in the parallel driving system are measured and evaluated in the parallel distance framework. First, the parallel driving 3.0 system included control and management platform, intelligent vehicle platform and remote-control platform is introduced. Then,Markov chain(MC) is utilized to model the transition probability matrix of control commands in these systems. Furthermore, to distinguish the control variables in artificial and physical driving conditions, different distance calculation methods are enumerated to specify the differences between the virtual and real signals. By doing this, the real system can be guided and the virtual system can be im-proved. Finally, simulation results exhibit the merits and multiple applications of the proposed parallel distance framework.
