Objective:To screen mutations in FERM domain-containing protein 7(FRMD7) gene in two Chinese families with X-linked idiopathic congenital nystagmus(XLICN).Methods:Common ophthalmic data and peripheral blood of two Chinese XLICN families(families A and B) were collected after informed *** DNA was prepared from the peripheral blood of members of the two families and from 100 normal *** in the FRMD7 gene were determined by directly sequencing polymerase chain reaction(PCR) ***:We identified a novel mutation c.980_983delATTA compound with c.986C>A mutation in the 11th exon of FRMD7 in family B,and a previously reported splicing mutation c.782G>C(p.R261G) in family *** mutations were detected in patients and female carriers,while they were absent in other relatives or in the 100 normal ***:Our results expand the spectrum of FRMD7 mutations in association with XLICN,and further confirm that the mutations of FRMD7 are the underlying molecular mechanism for XLICN.

Sinter is the main raw material in the blast furnace iron-making process,and basicity(CaO/SiO2)is an important quality index of *** gamma neutron activation analysis is a multi-elemental online detection technology that has been successfully applied in cement,coal,*** with cement as a raw material,sinter exhibits poor moderation ability and a large neutron absorption cross ***,cement detection devices are not suitable for sinter mixture *** this study,a prompt gamma neutron activation analysis equipment used for testing cement was re-optimized to render it suitable for measuring a sinter *** Monte Carlo simulation,the comprehensive detection efficiency of the detection device improved by 71.52%.Because of the gamma-ray self-shielding effect of the sinter mixture,the detection errors of CaO and SiO2 are *** applying the gamma-ray self-shielding correction algorithm,the detection accuracies improved,and their linear correlation coefficients R2 exceeded ***,by applying an improved analyzer to a sintering plant,the first-grade product rate of the factory increased by 4.64%.

A prompt gamma-neutron activation analysis(PGNAA) system was developed to detect the iron content of iron ore concentrate. Because of the self-absorption effect of gamma-rays and neutrons, and the interference of chlorine in the neutron field, the linear relationship between the iron analytical coefficient and total iron content was poor, increasing the error in the quantitative analysis. To solve this problem, gamma-ray self-absorption compensation and a neutron field correction algorithm were proposed, and the experimental results have been corrected using this algorithm. The results show that the linear relationship between the iron analytical coefficient and total iron content was considerably improved after the correction. The linear correlation coefficients reached 0.99 or more.

Bright blue polymer light-emitting diodes have been fabricated by using the poly(pphenylenevinylene)-based copolymers with 10 C long aliphatic chains as the electroluminescent layers,PBD in PMMA and Alq_(3) as the electron-transporting layers,and aluminum as the *** multilayer structure devices show 190cd/m^(2) light-emitting brightness at 460nm,15 V turn-on *** is found that the intensities of photoluminescence and electroluminescence(EL)increase with increasing aliphatic chain length,the EL intensity and operation stability of these polymer light-emitting diodes can be improved by reasonable design of the structure.

Transmission efficiency(TE) and focal ratio degradation(FRD) are two important parameters for evaluating the quality of an optical fiber system used for astronomy. Compared to TE, the focal ratio is more easily influenced by external factors, such as bending or stress. Optical cables are widely implemented for multi-object telescopes and integral field units(IFUs). The design and fabrication process of traditional optical cables seldom considers the requirements of astronomical applications. In this paper, we describe a fiber bundle structure as the basic unit for miniaturized high-density FASOT-IFU optical cables,instead of the micro-tube structure in stranded cables. Seven fibers with hexagonal arrangement were accurately positioned by ultraviolet(UV)-curing acrylate to form the bundle. The coating diameter of a fiber is0.125 mm, and the outer diameter of the bundle is 0.58 mm. Compared with the 0.8 mm micro-tube structure of a traditional stranded cable, the outer diameter of the fiber bundle was reduced by 27.5%. Fiber paste was filled into the bundle to reduce stress between the fibers. We tested the output focal ratio(OFR) in95% of the encircled energy(EE95) of the fibers in the bundle under different conditions. With the incident focal ratio F/8, the maximum difference of OFR is 0.6. In particular, when the incident focal ratio is F/5,the maximum difference of OFR is only 0.1. The jacket formed by the UV-curing acrylate can withstand a certain stress of less than 1.38 N mm-1. The fiber bundle can maintain uniform emitting characteristics with a bending radius of 7.5 cm and with tension less than 6 N. The test results show that the structure of the fiber bundle can be used as a basic unit for miniaturized high-density astronomical optical cables.

Background Endostatin is a potent inhibitor of tumor angiogenesis. In the preliminary studies, we developed a mutant endostatin containing Arg-Gly-Asp-Arg-Gly-Asp （RGDRGD） sequences. In this study, we compared the antitumor effects of mutant endostatin and Bcl-2 antisense oligonucleotides both in combination and individually. Methods The artificially synthesized Bcl-2 ASODN （antisense oligonucleotides） included a translation-initiation site and was transfected into the bladder cancer cells by Lipofectamine. Cell growth was investigated by the tumor cell growth chart, MTT assay, caspase-3 activity detection assay, AO/EB fluorescein stain, and the annexin V-FITC apoptosis detection assay. In the in vivo study, UM-UC-3 bladder cancer cells were subcutaneously implanted into nude mice and the growth of tumor was examined. The ultrastructure of the tumor tissues in the treated and control groups were observed. Results The cell growth chart showed that the cell population of the treated combination group decreased by 52.04% compared to the control group. The inhibition rate of the treated combination group was （79.66＋6.79）%, whereas those of the individual ASODN and ES groups were （53.39＋3.22）% and （50.22＋5.46）% respectively. In the caspase-3 activity detection using AO/EB fluorescein stain and annexin V-FITC apoptosis detection assay, the co-inhibitory effect was higher than the individual inhibitory effects （P〈0.05）. There were significant differences in the inhibition of the solid tumor growth in the in vivo study. Conclusions Our findings indicated that Bcl-2 antisense oligonucleotides enhance the antitumor effects of mutant endostatin both in vitro and in vivo. We noted the synergistic effects of Bcl-2 antisense oligonucleotides combined with mutant endostatin.
