Tactile and proprioception feedback are essential to myoelectric hand prostheses control for regaining functionality of lost hands of amputees.Current studies focus on tactile feedback,while the lack of appropriate multisensory feedback,especially proprioception feedback,limits the grasping quality.Additionally,a typical non-invasive stimulation scheme for sensation feedback uses stimulation on the stationary site of the skin continuously,which can lead to fatigue and adaptation of sensation,further reduces the feedback consistency,and increases the cognitive burden for the subject.Considering the sensitivity and modality matching of sensation,this study presented a multimodal sensations feedback scheme based on hybrid static-dynamic sensation elicited by multisite Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation(TENS)to deliver grasping force and joint position feedback.In the proposed scheme,stimulation of single electrode produced only in-loco tactile sensation under the electrode,and the sensation intensity was adjusted according to grasping force;sequential activation of multi-electrodes produced an illusion dynamic sensation of a stimulus moving,and the velocity and direction of movement were adjusted according to finger joint position.Psychometric test results demonstrated the identifiability of stimulus in the proposed scheme.Further,prosthetic hand closed-loop grasping tasks evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed feedback scheme.The results showed that the proposed feedback scheme could substantially improve the grasping accuracy and efficiency.In addition,the study outcomes also demonstrated the benefit of artificial proprioception feedback in grasping rapidity and security.

The experimental and thermodynamic studies of the Co-Ti system are an important part of the project to build a thermodynamic database for multicomponent Co-Ti-based alloys.Several key alloys were prepared and then examined for microstructural,compositional and thermal analyses to determine the Ti-rich phase equilibria.According to the available experimental information,the Co-Ti system was thermodynamically re-optimized on the basis of CALPHAD method.Four disordered solutions,liquid,fcc-A1(α-Co),bcc-A2(β-Ti)and hcp-A3(ε-Co andα-Ti)were modeled as substitutional ones.CoTi_(2)with limited solubility was treated as a stoichiometric compound,whileγ-Co_(2)Ti andβ-Co_(2)Ti with certain solubility were described in the form of(Co,Ti)2(Co,Ti)1 using a two-sublattice model.A single Gibbs energy function was employed to model two order–disorder transformations from fcc-A1 to fcc-L12(Co3Ti)and from bcc-A2 to bcc-B2(CoTi).A group of self-consistent thermodynamic parameters of the Co-Ti system were obtained.With these thermodynamic parameters,the experimental data can be described more reasonably and satisfactorily.

Radio map is an advanced technology that mitigates the reliance of multiple-input multiple-output(MIMO)beamforming on channel state information(CSI).In this paper,we introduce the concept of deep learning-based radio map,which is designed to be generated directly from the raw CSI data.In accordance with the conventional CSI acquisition mechanism of MIMO,we first introduce two baseline schemes of radio map,i.e.,CSI prediction-based radio map and throughput predictionbased radio map.To fully leverage the powerful inference capability of deep neural networks,we further propose the end-to-end structure that outputs the beamforming vector directly from the location information.The rationale behind the proposed end-to-end structure is to design the neural network using a task-oriented approach,which is achieved by customizing the loss function that quantifies the communication quality.Numerical results show the superiority of the task-oriented design and confirm the potential of deep learning-based radio map in replacing CSI with location information.

Moths possess an extremely sensitive and diverse sex pheromone processing system,in which pheromone receptors(PRs)are essential to ensure communication between mating partners.Functional properties of some PRs are conserved among species,which is important for reproduction.However,functional differentiation has occurred in some homologous PR genes,which may drive species divergence.Here,using genome analysis,17 PR genes were identified from Spodoptera frugiperda,S.exigua,and S.litura,which belong to 6 homologous groups(odorant receptor[OR]6,11,13,16,56,and 62);of which 6 PR genes(OR6,OR11,OR13,OR16,OR56,and OR62)were identified in S.frugiperda and S.exigua,and 5 PR genes were identified in S.litura,excluding OR62.Using heterologous expression in Xenopus oocytes,we characterized the functions of PR orthologs including OR6,OR56,and OR62,which have not been clarified in previous studies.OR6 orthologs were specifically tuned to(Z,E)-9,12-tetradecadienyl acetate(Z9,E12-14:OAc),and OR62 orthologs were robustly tuned to Z7-12:OAc in S.frugiperda and S.exigua.The optimal ligand for OR56 was Z7-12:OAc in S.frugiperda,but responses were minimal in S.exigua and S.litura.In addition,SfruOR6 was male antennae-specific,whereas SfruOR56 and SfruOR62 were male antennae-biased.Our study further clarified the functional properties of PRs in 3 Spodoptera moth species,providing a comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms of intraspecific communication and interspecific isolation in Spodoptera.

A concise review of recent studies about the fracture assessments of elastic brittle solid materials containing V-notches is presented. In this preliminary and brief survey, elastic stress distributions in V-notched solids are discussed first. The concept of notch stress intensity factor is introduced. Combine the digital image correlation method with numerical computation techniques to analyze the stress distribution near the notches. Fracture criteria such as strain energy density, J-integral, theory of critical distance are used. However, various new materials are developed in different engineering fields, thus, the establishment of reliable and accurate material strength theory or failure criterion is imperative. Therefore, predicting fracture for various modem materials would require more experiments to infer material dependent parameters in the local fracture model.

High-capacity anode materials have stimulated much attention to developing high-performance lithium-ion batteries. However, high-capacity anode materials commonly suffer from the pulverization matter that greatly hinders their practical applications, especially in terms of the high proportion of active materials. In this work, a Ga2O3nanowire electrode is synthesized by thermal evaporation and immediately used as an anode without the aid of binders and conductive additives. The 3D interconnected architecture of the Ga2O3nanowire electrode shortens lithium diffusion lengths and expedites reaction kinetics. The Ga2O3nanowires exhibit high elasticity and a self-healing ability which is inherited from metallic Ga formed during the electrochemical transition process, thus circumventing the formidable pulverization issue to a certain extent. Benefiting from the unique structural, mechanical, and chemical attributes, the as-grown Ga2O3nanowire electrode gives a high initial lithiation capacity of 1462 m Ah g-1under a current density of 0.1 A g-1. It delivers good cyclic stability with a reversible capacity of 445 m Ah g-1after 200 cycles at 0.5 A g-1. Furthermore, the investigation of lithium storage behaviors indicates the high rate capability of Ga2O3nanowires. This paper contributes to understanding binderand conductive additive-free electrodes consisting of high-capacity active materials from various viewpoints.

Background Four-chambered stomach including the forestomachs(rumen,reticulum,and omasum)and abomasum allows ruminants convert plant fiber into high-quality animal products.The early development of this four-chambered stomach is crucial for the health and well-being of young ruminants,especially the immune development.However,the dynamics of immune development are poorly understood.Results We investigated the early gene expression patterns across the four-chambered stomach in Hu sheep,at 5,10,15,and 25 days of age.We found that forestomachs share similar gene expression patterns,all four stomachs underwent widespread activation of both innate and adaptive immune responses from d 5 to 25,whereas the metabolic function were significantly downregulated with age.We constructed a cell landscape of the four-chambered stomach using single-cell sequencing.Integrating transcriptomic and single-cell transcriptomic analyses revealed that the immune-associated module hub genes were highly expressed in T cells,monocytes and macrophages,as well as the defense-associated module hub genes were highly expressed in endothelial cells in the four-stomach tissues.Moreover,the non-immune cells such as epithelial cells play key roles in immune maturation.Cell communication analysis predicted that in addition to immune cells,non-immune cells recruit immune cells through macrophage migration inhibitory factor signaling in the forestomachs.Conclusions Our results demonstrate that the immune and defense responses of four stomachs are quickly developing with age in lamb's early life.We also identified the gene expression patterns and functional cells associated with immune development.Additionally,we identified some key receptors and signaling involved in immune regulation.These results help to understand the early life immune development at single-cell resolution,which has implications to develop nutritional manipulation and health management strategies based on specific targets including key receptors and signaling pathways.

As the basis of location-based services(LBS),positioning is one of the most essential parts in intelligent transportation systems(ITS).Although global positioning system(GPS)has been widely used in vehicle positioning,it can not achieve lane level positioning accuracy.Motivated by the mature ranging technologies such as radar and ultra-wideband(UWB),several cooperative positioning(CP)methods have been proposed to enhance the accuracy and robustness of GPS.In this paper,we proposed a twostage CP algorithm that combines multidimensional scaling(MDS)and Procrustes analysis for vehicles with GPS information.Specifically,the optimized MDS based on the scaling by majorizing a complicated function(SMACOF)algorithm is first proposed to get the relative coordinates of vehicles which can tackle measurements of different error distributions,then Procrustes analysis is carried out to transform the relative coordinates of vehicles to their absolute coordinates based on GPS information.All the computations are performed at the mobile edge computing node(MECN)for the request of ultra-reliable and low latency communications(URLLC).Simulation results validate that the proposed algorithm can greatly improve the positioning accuracy and robustness for vehicles.

An attention-based cascade R-CNN model for sternum fracture detection in X-ray images

Fracture is one of the most common and unexpected traumas.If not treated in time,it may cause serious consequences such as joint stiffness,traumatic arthritis,and nerve injury.Using computer vision technology to detect fractures can reduce the workload and misdiagnosis of fractures and also improve the fracture detection speed.However,there are still some problems in sternum fracture detection,such as the low detection rate of small and occult fractures.In this work,the authors have constructed a dataset with 1227 labelled X-ray images for sternum fracture detection.The authors designed a fully automatic fracture detection model based on a deep convolution neural network(CNN).The authors used cascade R-CNN,attention mechanism,and atrous convolution to optimise the detection of small fractures in a large X-ray image with big local variations.The authors compared the detection results of YOLOv5 model,cascade R-CNN and other state-of-the-art models.The authors found that the convolution neural network based on cascade and attention mechanism models has a better detection effect and arrives at an mAP of 0.71,which is much better than using the YOLOv5 model(mAP=0.44)and cascade R-CNN(mAP=0.55).
