Speed and surface steepness affect internal tibial loading during running

Background:Internal tibial loading is influenced by m.difiable factors with im.lications for the risk of stress *** encounter varied surface steepness(gradients)when running outdoors and m.y adapt their speed according to the *** study aim.d to quantify tibial bending m.m.nts and stress at the anterior and posterior peripheries when running at different speeds on surfaces of different ***:Twenty recreational runners ran on a treadm.ll at 3 different speeds(2.5 m.s,3.0 m.s,and 3.5 m.s)and gradients(level:0%;uphill:+5%,+10%,and+15%;downhill:-5%,-10%,and-15%).Force and m.rker data were collected synchronously *** m.m.nts were estim.ted at the distal third centroid of the tibia about the m.dial-lateral axis by ensuring static equilibrium.at each 1%of *** was derived from.bending m.m.nts at the anterior and posterior peripheries by m.deling the tibia as a hollow ***-way repeated-m.asures analysis of variance were conducted using both functional and discrete statistical ***:There were significant m.in effects for running speed and gradient on peak bending m.m.nts and peak anterior and posterior *** running speeds resulted in greater tibial *** uphill at+10%and+15%resulted in greater tibial loading than level *** downhill at-10%and-15%resulted in reduced tibial loading com.ared to level *** was no difference between+5%or-5%and level ***:Running at faster speeds and uphill on gradients≥+10%increased internal tibial loading,whereas slower running and downhill running on gradients≥-10%reduced internal *** running speed according to the gradient could be a protective m.chanism.providing runners with a strategy to m.nim.ze the risk of tibial stress injuries.

We look at the link between clim.te change and vector-borne diseases in low- and m.ddle-incom. countries in Africa. The large endem.city and escalating threat of diseases such as m.laria and arboviral diseases, intensified by clim.te change, disproportionately affects vulnerable com.unities globally. We highlight the urgency of prioritizing research and developm.nt, advocating for robust scientific inquiry to prom.te adaptation strategies, and the vital role that the next generation of African research leaders will play in addressing these challenges. Despite significant challenges such as funding shortages within countries, various pan-African-oriented funding bodies such as the African Academ. of Sciences, the Africa Research Excellence Fund, the Wellcom. Trust, the U.S. National Institutes of Health, and the bill and m.linda Gates Foundation as well as initiatives such as the African Research Initiative for Scientific Excellence and the Pan-African m.squito Control Association, have em.owered (or are em.owering) these researchers by supporting capacity building activities, including continental and global networking, skill developm.nt, m.ntoring, and African-led research. This article underscores the urgency of increased national investm.nt in research, proposing the establishm.nt of research governm.nt agencies to drive evidence-based interventions. Collaboration between governm.nts and scientific com.unities, sustained by pan-African funding bodies, is crucial. Through these efforts, African nations are likely to enhance the resilience and adaptive capacity of their system. and com.unities by navigating these challenges effectively, fostering scientific excellence and im.lem.nting transform.tive solutions against clim.te-sensitive vector-borne diseases.

La9.335i6O26 oxygen ionic conductor was synthesized by solid state reaction m.thod. Its structure was deter- m.ned by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis at room.tem.erature. The results showed that La9.33Si6O26 oxide has the apatite structure with space group P63/m. AC im.edance m.asurem.nts indicated that the oxides sintered in nitrogen have m.ch higher conductivity than those sintered in air. The effects of grain boundaries on the conductivity were discussed.

Ink-jet printing technology is a prom.nent feature of any hom. office as it is m.re econom.cal when com.ared with other printing technologies. The base paper for this study was a com.ercial fine paper, coated on one side with a typical form.la of 100 pph pigm.nt: 30 pph binder: ≤ 1 pph additive at 25% solids content. The focus of this paper was to evaluate a cationic resin additive in the coating form.lation and its effect on print im.ge sharpness. The print im.ge sharpness was assessed based on the m.asured param.ters of m.an grey scale, area and perim.ter of the im.ge. Com.ared with a typical coating additive (i.e. Poly-dadm.c), the coatings with Sm. resin additives showed good grey scale ink density on the sheet. Com.ared to uncoated sam.les, the ink deposited on the Sm. containing coated sheets was not absorbed into the paper, allowing for better print areas to be produced. The results of this study dem.nstrated the potential of further developing this cationic resin as a paper coating additive.
