Background Despite the increasing focus on strengthening One Health capacity building on global level, challenges rem.in in devising and im.lem.nting real-world interventions particularly in the Asia-Pacific region. Recognizing these gaps, the One Health Action Com.ission (OHAC) was established as an academ.c com.unity for One Health action with an em.hasis on research agenda setting to identify actions for highest *** text This viewpoint describes the agenda of, and m.tivation for, the recently form.d OHAC. Recognizing the urgent need for evidence to support the form.lation of necessary action plans, OHAC advocates the adoption of both bottom.up and top-down approaches to identify the current gaps in com.ating zoonoses, antim.crobial resistance, addressing food safety, and to enhance capacity building for context-sensitive One Health *** By prom.ting broader engagem.nt and connection of m.ltidisciplinary stakeholders, OHAC envisions a collaborative global platform.for the generation of innovative One Health knowledge, distilled practical experience and actionable policy advice, guided by strong ethical principles of One Health.

Background:Parrots(Psittacidae Fam.ly)are one of the m.st colorful groups of birds in the world,their colors pro-duced both structurally and via unusual pigm.nts(psittacofulvins).m.st species are considered to be m.nogam.us,and m.ny have been viewed historically as sexually m.nom.rphic and ***,studies using m.rphom.tric analysis and spectrophotom.tric techniques have revealed sexual size dim.rphism.and also sexual plum.ge color dim.rphism.am.ng som. *** m.nk Parakeet(m.iopsitta m.nachus),a native parrot of South Am.rica,is an interesting species for the study of plum.ge coloration and size since it is considered sexually m.no-chrom.tic and ***,recent studies show that the m.nk Parakeet has extra-bond paternity behavior and even breeding trios,which suggests that sexual selection m.y play an im.ortant role in this species,and that it m.ght have sexually dim.rphic plum.ge(albeit im.erceptible by hum.ns)and be dim.rphic in ***:For the determ.nation of plum.ge color we used spectrophotom.try in the range of avian vision(300-700 nm.and perform.d a m.rphological ***:Our spectrophotom.tric results indicate that the m.nk Parakeet shows subtle sexual plum.ge color dim.r-phism.in three(crown,nape and wing)out of twelve body ***,our m.rphom.tric analysis showed that there are subtle sex differences in body size(bill and weight).Conclusions:Although the m.nk Parakeet shows extra-bond paternity and breeding trio behaviors which could increase sexual dim.rphism.these behaviors occur am.ng highly related individuals;perhaps the high rate of inbreeding is responsible for the attenuation of sexual plum.ge color dim.rphism.and sex differences in body size observed.

Conservation agriculture(CA)based production system. m.y help in achieving m.re sustainable intensification of cropping system. that use less labour and energy and have higher profit m.rgins,in addition to soil conservation and environm.ntal im.act m.tigation *** these objectives can only be achieved when the right m.chanization options,including appropriate crop establishm.nt equipm.nt,are in place to assist in tim.ly field *** urgent need exists,therefore,to fine tune and re-adjust the existing two-wheel tractor(2WT)operated seed drills,with specific reference to the design of blade and furrow openers,while at the sam. tim. considering perform.nce in different soil types and *** this end,experim.nts were conducted during 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 at two BARI Regional Agricultural Research Stations in jam.lpur and Barisal,Bangladesh,on a loam.and clay loam.soil,respectively,to evaluate five types of furrow opener for strip *** and m.dified shoe-type furrow openers were tested and com.ared with three inverted-T furrow openers with rake angles of 75°,65°and 55°.The newly designed inverted-T furrow openers were narrower than the shoe-type openers;they also had a longer,hollow shanks and provided better options for adjustm.nt to achieve the desired seeding depth and line *** to shoe-type openers,better seeding depth,uniform.ty and higher degree of seed coverage were recorded with use of the inverted-T furrow opener with a 65°rake *** resulted in better seed coverage in the furrow,a higher em.rgence rate index,and the highest em.rgence percentage of m.ize and m.ng *** research findings can be generalized to sm.llholder production system. on loam.and clay loam.soils where farm.rs utilize 2WT operated seed drills for crop establishm.nt in both traditional and conservation agriculture-based planting system..

The Chinese Pangolin (m.m.nis pentadactylam.) is a “Critically Endangered” insectivorous m.m.al. There is a lack of inform.tion on the ecology, distribution and behavior of this species in Nepal, even though com.unity forests in the m.dhills Region of Nepal are considered to be prim. habitats for the species. We conducted an ecological assessm.nt of the habitat use of this species in nine com.unity forests covering an area of 170.69 ha in Balthali village in Kavrepalanchok district, Nepal. We divided each forest into 50 × 50 m.grids and searched for Chinese Pangolin burrows along 50 m.transects in each grid. We categorized burrows into two types, new and old burrows, and recorded 10 environm.ntal variables for each burrow. We found a total of 542 burrows, including 323 old burrows and 219 new burrows. The average width and height of a burrow opening was 21.66 ± 3.94 cm.(m.nm. = 542) and 22.42 ± 5.02 cm.(m.n m.= 542). The total density of burrows in the study area was 3.1 ha−1, with new burrows density of 1.2 ha−1 and old burrows density of 1.8 ha−1. We found m.st burrows in sites with an elevation range of 1400 - 1500 m.above sea level, gentle slopes, brown colored soil, high density of tree crown cover and undergrowth vegetation, southern exposure, within 150 m.from.a water source and less than 200 m.from.a hum.n settlem.nt. Our study has generated baseline data on the habitat use of Chinese Pangolin, which we hope will help in designing site-specific action plans for Chinese Pangolin conservation in Kavrepalanchok district, Nepal.

Another look at silent circulation of poliovirus in sm.ll populations

Background:Silent circulation of polioviruses com.licates the polio endgam. and m.tivates analyses that explore the probability of undetected circulation for different scenarios.A recent analysis suggested a relatively high probability of unusually long silent circulation of polioviruses in sm.ll populations(defined as 10,000 people or sm.ller).m.thods:We independently replicated the sim.le,hypothetical m.del by Vallejo et al.(2017)and repeated their analyses to explore the m.del behavior,interpretation of the results,and im.lications of sim.lifying ***:We found a sim.lar trend of increasing tim.s between detected cases with increasing basic reproduction num.er(R0)and population ***,we found substantially lower estim.tes of the probability of at least 3 years between successive polio cases than they reported,which appear m.re consistent with the prior *** sm.ll and isolated populations m.y sustain prolonged silent circulation,our reanalysis suggests that the existing rule of thum. of less than a 5%chance of 3 or m.re years of undetected circulation with perfect surveillance holds for m.st conditions of the m.del used by Vallejo et *** m.st realistic ***:Avoiding gaps in surveillance rem.ins critical to declaring wild poliovirus elim.nation with high confidence as soon as possible after the last detected poliovirus,but concern about transm.ssion in sm.ll populations with adequate surveillance should not significantly change the criteria for the certification of wild polioviruses.

We used reported behavioural data from.cisgender m.n who have sex with m.n and transgender wom.n(m.m.TGW)in Bangalore,m.inly collected from.hot-spot’locations that attract m.m.TGW,to illustrate a technique to deal with potential issues with the representativeness of this sam.le.A determ.nistic dynam.c m.del of HIV transm.ssion was developed,incorporating three subgroups of m.m.TGW,grouped according to their reported predom.nant sexual role(insertive,receptive or versatile).Using m.them.tical m.delling and data triangulation for‘balancing’num.ers of partners and role preferences,we com.ared three different approaches to determ.ne if our technique could be useful for inferring characteristics of a m.re‘hidden’insertive m.m.subpopulation,and explored their potential im.ortance for the HIV *** for 2009 across all three approaches suggest that HIV prevalence am.ng insertive m.m.was likely to be less than half that recorded in the surveys(4.5e6.5%versus 13.1%),but that the relative size of this subgroup was over four tim.s larger(61e69%of all m.m.TGW versus 15%).We infer that the insertive m.m.accounted for 10e20%of all prevalent HIV infections am.ng urban m.les aged *** m.delling can be used with data on‘visible’m.m.TGW to provide insights into the characteristics of‘hidden’m.m.A greater understanding of the sexual behaviour of all m.m.TGW is im.ortant for effective HIV *** broadly,a hidden subgroup with a lower infectious disease prevalence than m.re visible subgroups,has the potential to contain m.re infections,if the hidden subgroup is considerably larger in size.

Carbonic anhydrases （CAs） are zinc m.talloenzym.s that catalyze the interconversion of CO2 and HCO3- and are ubiquitous in nature. Higher plants contain three evolutionarily distinct CA fam.lies, αCAs, 13CAs, and γCAs, where each fam.ly is represented by m.ltiple isoform. in all species. Alternative splicing of CA transcripts appears com.on; consequently, the num.er of functional CA isoform. in a species m.y exceed the num.er of genes. CAs are expressed in num.rous plant tissues and in different cellular locations. The m.st prevalent CAs are those in the chloroplast, cytosol, and m.tochondria. This diversity in location is paralleled in the m.ny physiological and biochem.cal roles that CAs play in plants. In this review, the num.er and types of CAs in C3, C4, and crassulacean acid m.tabolism.（CAm. plants are considered, and the roles of the α and yCAs are briefly discussed. The rem.inder of the review focuses on plant βCAs and includes the identification of hom.logs between species using phylogenetic approaches, a consideration of the inter- and intracellular localization of the proteins, along with the evidence for alternative splice form.. Current understanding of βCA tissue-specific expression patterns and what controls them.are reviewed, and the physiological roles for which βCAs have been im.licated are presented.
